This is the bike I so much want to ride. Struggling to find a dealer with one. I was just a little underwhelmed with the 2017 Street Triple RS as good as it is, I want more grunt and the 1050 engine so the Speed Triple R might be the one. I already have a Sprint ST 1050. The Daytona I would love to try but it is no NLA unless I try second hand. Anyway enjoy your new ride and for making such an enjoyable honest review of your bike selling and buying reasons. Nice one. Shall look forward to your first proper review and walk around.

Congrats Dude on the beautiful bike, I see your getting a low awesome choice serious weight saving and spits flames! I test ride the RS a few weeks ago and found it twitchy and unstable at high speed but I am used to the heavier Speed. Can I ask why you didn't consider S1000r, SuperDuke, Tuono, Mt10 etc?

@Coldfin9er7 жыл бұрын
Dubble D 2nd gear output is broke + head gasket is gone, means engine out and split the casings. Bit of a shitter but shouldn't cost the earth in parts. It's an old '08 bike with ~25k on it. I still have my 1290R to use in the mean time so all is not lost! I need to get it fixed before the shit weather comes so have a few months yet to sort.
@DaytonaDays7 жыл бұрын
Coldfin9er ouch - you doing it yourself?
@Coldfin9er7 жыл бұрын
Dubble D Yeah, shouldn't be too bad. 1050 engines go for silly money used so too risky buying one unknown. Safer to to a mild rebuild / refurb.

Hi mate. Enjoyed your other video on why you like the Speed Triple as I could relate to most of it. I bought a 2016 Speed Triple S in 2018 and love it still. I was at Silverstone for the MotoGP that wasn't last year and had a good look at the new model but I wouldn't change. If Triumph are there again this weekend I'll have another look but I would be hard pushed to change. Only the TFT screen and keyless ignition interest me on the new model. Wouldn't want to lose my upgrades including low slung exhaust. we'll see.
@DaytonaDays4 жыл бұрын

what's with these underseat exhausts , Iam intimidated by them. 1st! Congrats on the purchase! As a new 765 RS owner, I think you made the right move since the new 765 RS has a peaky power band while the Speedy gets useable torque all-day long. The Speedy it's just a tad bit too heavy for me, but would be a great upgrade for you from a 2012, please share more thoughts!!!
@DaytonaDays7 жыл бұрын

@DaytonaDays7 жыл бұрын
P Banks I've heard about this - especially where it's placed on a Speed as well! Any experience of this yourself?
@abnx96707 жыл бұрын
Not on a Speedy, but in Duc SF the OEM battery weighed 11.3 lbs and it was high up under the pillion seat cover! Horrible place to carry extra weight. So I put in a 12 cell Anti-gravity that weighed well under 3 lbs and did make the bike feel lighter. It worked flawlessly too.

About the reliability of the 675 engine. I have a Street Triple R from 2009 and it has about 52 000 km ( aprox 32 000 miles) on the meter right now. No serious failures appart from the rectifier recall, only regular services and a changed cam chain "stretcher" (don't know the correct term in English) Take care of them and they run forever.
@DaytonaDays7 жыл бұрын
FenrisUlfven oh definitely, my engine never skipped a beat on my Daytona and she had a tough 25,000 miles when I let her go. Oil changes and good to go 👌🏼
@xt4tic7 жыл бұрын
I was watching your last RS vs the Speed.. So last week i tested the RS and i was a bit disappointed.. i'm currently riding a mt07, and i was expecting something so much better, but for some reason, it was like riding mine, so "easy"? to put the bike where you want, of course with much more power, much more breaking, great suspension, but i still needed something more.. also, the clutch looked a bit fucked up and i was having lots of problems to use the quickshifter in fast conditions.. I spoke to the dealer about my experience, and he just told me to try the speed, that will be completely different. I will end up testing the speed and the superduke, and i guess we will have a winner :D
@DaytonaDays7 жыл бұрын
xt4tic they are roads apart, so many people keep saying "they'll stop making the Speed because of the new Street is faster, better, etc..." they couldn't be more wrong
@xt4tic7 жыл бұрын
Oh and i forgot one thing, i was riding with a pillion, and she instahated the RS, when she stopped she told me that it was so insecure that almost start crying rofl One more point on the wide and more comfy speed. As you say, it looks more muscular, the swingarm it's just beautiful, and you might help me here, the speed is a 16' model, so is it euro3 or euro4? I mean, this new regulations are shit, and all i want is to put a sexy exhaust and enjoy the noise. Enjoy the beast and share your thoughts on this new one!
@DaytonaDays7 жыл бұрын
xt4tic I don't know whether it's a Euro3 or 4 actually? Probably neither by the time I whip the exhausts off 😂
@capz32177 жыл бұрын
It's still sold in 2017 so it's already EU4 compliant. Lot's of other bikes have been updated for 2017 or received successors like the Street Triple to meet EU4 regulations. And some, sadly, have been discontinued.

Enjoyed a couple of your vids now - most [bike] vloggers are terrible! I'm very fortunate to have a couple of bikes now; like you, obtained by working hard (and making a couple of smart purchases which I've been able to make money from). How did you make the decision to part with a bike you loved so much? I have a Ducati 999S which cripples me - but I love its soul!! However, I'm wanting a Speed Triple R. I could get one, but don't know if I can part with the Duc. And I can't sell my other bike either. 1st world problems eh?! Enjoy the bike - good choice!

I don't know. I fell in love with the RS. Here in the U.S. though they want $12,500 for one... which to many people could be an fz10 or s1000 r. That said I know that RS would spank a lot of my friends older 750's and definitely keep up to my buddies hyper 1100. I'm 30 now already fuck that was fast. So I can't stand the R6 because it is like trying to sit on a pike it's just that uncomfortable. The other bike I cannot stand is the 2006-2008 triumph daytona. That model is just killer on your wrists. Besides that my big dilemma is A) after I get my new job a Daytona R or an RS. It's a very hard choice..... I can say if they threw on the electronics and dash of the RS it would be a Daytona instantly. Yet my girl loves to go on rides and I need a more comfortable bike for her as well. My Ninja just well 400 mile ride in one day.. my girlfriend hated me for the next 3 days LOL. My back also hated me because that thing blows with 2 people on it. Nice bike though the speed is great. I am bit of a Triumph fanboy. But like you I also can't like shit. So no matter how much I like something if i know it is shit I am just like cool well I would never buy it but cool to see it. Everyone I know doubts me on the Triumphs yet here in the states. Everyone buys jap and it gets old just seeing them everywhere... Well jap or A REAL BIKE (harley). Especially living right by Milwaukee..... My dad has two old Triumph's and a Harley. I grew up on and around them so I have a soft spot. Yet I grin at how fucking good these new inline 3's and even the bonnevilles are. I actually want a bonnie to take my girl on rides and a daytona for me lol. (In a perfect world where money rains down) hell I would also get an rsv4.

I know mate. I was doing some days out riding in the swiss alps. Last place on earth where i would have think to have a bike stolen. The Speed R is a damn good bike, i think i'm going with a 1290R now but the speedie remains an awesome package for street riding.

District Six meh, was a year technically, she’s a lot different now anyways - I’d be interested to see if an RS could pull on her 🤔
