I miss chopping corn that was the highlight of the year as a kid working for my neighbor driving a old 1972 ford cabover 5 ton hauling and fallowing the chopper. My neighbor had a 3row pull behind. Then years later another neighbor got a 4 row self propelled john deere that was a monster at the time but now a 10 to 16 is big. Thanks for the video i can even smell all the smells

Another amazing video from BTP !! In America you grow yellow corn, back here in Kenya (East Africa) yellow corn doesn't yield so well hence we opt for white corn which takes approximately 5-6 months to mature for food. In a good yield one stalk of corn would have 2-3 corn cobs on it.
@bigtractorpower
@bigtractorpower 4 жыл бұрын
5-6 months is interesting. Most of the corn here is 90-120 day varieties. Do you raise corn on 48 inch rows? Silage corn from what I see is all yellow corn. White and yellow corn is harvested here in Kentucky for grain. There is also some blue corn raised that is used for tortillas chips and whiskey. Typically I see yellow corn yield 200-230 bu and white corn 190-200 bu.
@Timothy_Kim
@Timothy_Kim 4 жыл бұрын
@@bigtractorpower yes Sir, 48 inch of rows. here we plant the corn in late March and April then it matures by August but harvested when dry from late September to early November. You know back here we don't experience extreme weather like snow..it is generally Hot & wet in areas where corn, beans & wheat is grown and Cool & wet in areas where tea leaves, coffee, peas & potatoes are grown .. Dairy farms here opt for Oat grass. For Corn yield, we count in terms of bags per Acre of farm. so an Acre of land here would give you between 30-40 bags of 90 kilograms each of corn.

This is the first model Krone BigX. The new ones are flying compared to this. Heck of a lot friendlier on the wallet as well talking fuel consumption. Our new Terra trac Claas Jaguar runs with a 12 row header chopping a healthier sturdier crop and by the looks of it easily drives 150% faster than this BigX. Not bragging here simply stating the improvements of harvesters over the years. Ofc I have no idea what the climate is like in this vid because when we're chopping in the Netherlands it's rarely hot out still and the harvester is running in ideal conditions. Add 15 degrees to the mix and were looking at a completely different picture. The old BigX was known for overheating as well but the Germans seem to have tackled that problem. The BigX is seen as the superior harvester over here, we simply value the Terra-trac that much that we went with the Claas in the end.
@ShainAndrews
@ShainAndrews 4 жыл бұрын
@@xSCHEF Good information. As for climate while this was taking place. Figure peak heat & humidity. 35-37c. I don't think the US processes nearly as much silage as other countries. I'm assuming for a machine to operate 150% faster than this they are also equipped with some sort of auto-steer? Pretty quick pace to stay on the row.
@4gauge10
@4gauge10 4 жыл бұрын
@@xSCHEF It's very pointless to go much faster then this machine in this video,it takes time to unload these two trucks in this video,I mentioned that about 6 more trucks with 53'ft.trailers would be needed just to keep up with this 10 rower,the 12 rower would be a real waste of money,unless you have a fleet of trucks to keep this machine cutting NON STOP. If your having to shut down the operator of this machine 15-20 minutes at a time before they can SAFELY unload their silage,your better off to buy a less powerful silage cutter then the one in this video.

Corn stalks do a number on all tires. They take chunks out of tractor tires pretty quick.

Fuel is around 110 to 130 liters per hour. If the corn is about 55 tons/Ha hes propably chopping around 150-160 tons per hour. But that's just estimations based on our stats here in germany

@@kiwidiesel Im on a Jaguar myself and running Dutch fields with that beast, boss screaming down my neck asking to speed it up and 35 days of chopping corn in a row I can tell you trailer-seeking assist sounds like a fricking dream. Fields are in the most impossible shapes over here, this software allowing me to focus on the ideal path to tackle the field would take away 50% of the daily stress.
