This was the second lens that I got for my Sony A7R v and love it with the Sony 70-200mm 2.8 ii and the only other lens that I have is the Viltrox 16mm 1.8 and also have the 1.4and the 2x converters and for doing landscape and wildlife photography here in Alaska I find it a great set up and also I have the same backpack but in black and love it for all my gear plus’s two drones

Great review and very much along the lines of my thoughts. It is the bargain of the century and I use it, together with a Sony 600mm f4 also. There's actually not too much in it, at least initially. However, shooting the 600mm at f4 and being sharp and responsive is a privilege, as is the ability to add a 1.4x t/c and note no real difference in IQ or focus speed. Both great lenses but the 200-600mm is something special for the money, it should be double the price. Of interest, my 200-600mm is sharper at 400mm than my G Master 100-400mm at 400mm.

I got this lens and the F4. The F4 is a dream but too big to take everywhere. But this lens does go everwhere and I love it too. I recommend a Leofoto SF-01 replacement foot. For a battery grip, Vello's BG-S7 is bargain-priced and has served me well.

Hey...I'm currently using a Nikon D7500 with a Sigma 150-600mm contemporary lens...although I'm thinking of getting a Sony A7 iv with the 200-600mm. Do you think that combo would be better?

Really dig your vids. I also have this lens and really do like it. I agree re: the price point and pairing brand to brand. Which makes me ask the question relating to your battery grip. I started with the Meike and got frustrated with the resetting of settings when powering off sequence and the feel of it. I’m kinda of surprised you haven’t went with the Sony grip? I do get there is a cost difference…which made me pick one up from MPB.

This is a fantastic video! I only once got to try the 100-400 and am wondering: how often do you find yourself at 600mm versus any other focal lengths when going out for birding and similar?
