As expat living in the US, I say no thank you. We get preseason exhibition matches here and they gouge the fans for meaningless matches with half the first team missing. God knows what they'd charge for a real match. I'd rather spend the extra on a flight to Europe, have a real atmosphere in a proper football ground rather than an NFL stadium.

But mate that's because you're not American and so are not insane. It is literally the American way of life to spend insane amounts of money on the commercialisation of big "finals" like matches. Without doubt if there were any knockout UCL games in the US they could charge triple the ticket price and generate twice as much ad revenue than normal. I personally would hate to see it happen considering its a European comp, but from a purely financial perspective, it will inevitably happen.

It’s a UEFA issue, ultimately it’ll be Middle East, China, Japan next. From a European fans POV, it’s not what we want, but it is inevitable as there is a market there. They need to protect the players/integrity of the sport. If teams are flying all over the world, they must have sufficient recovery time (less games).

@@markb2223 There's no integrity left, because there's no sport left. VAR is rampantly fixed, players are conning refs morning, noon and night; gamblers are fixing matches wholesale; the media companies make up lies morning noon and night; and the fans spend £125 to go to Newcastle to watch multimillionaires too beholden to organised criminals to even make a pretence of playing a football match.

@Emz7 it's not about views. It's about revenue. The CL may get more viewers than the NBA, but the NBA makes far greater revenue than UEFA. UEFA averages around 2 billion in revenue, but the NBA averages around 8 billion. It's not the fault of UEFA though. Ads are what bring in most of the revenue. The only room for ads in soccer is during pre-match, half-time and post-match. However, NBA has ad-breaks throughout the game. Simply put, soccer pales in revenue when compared to the NFL, NBA and MLB because of the nature of the sport. It sucks, but it's true. 🤷🏾‍♂️

This is just a big F U to the fans. I said the same thing when Barcelona played Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia a few months back. A lot of fans struggle to afford to go to European countries for champions league matches, but they want them to travel even further for them. The reason I say it's a big F U to the fans is because the games will get played in a country where a majority of the fans don't care about the teams playing, yet the real fans who probably could have afforded to go to the game in Europe, now can't and have to watch it on TV. Let them sell the final to the highest bidder, it's in a neutral location anyway and the money could be donated to a worthy cause and fans get the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world.

This is an absolute cash grab and I don’t like it. I’m American and fans will pay up the ass for a game here. I had a friend who saw the Barca/Real Madrid preseason game in Vegas and he paid over 400 dollars for tickets. It’s insane. I paid that much to watch Real Madrid and PSG in the round of 16 in Paris. If a game is ever paid in the US tickets will go for ungodly amounts and that’s what’s driving UEFA. And in the US ticket companies like Ticketmaster will be licking their chops because scalpers are going to buy and resell at even crazier amounts. If this ever comes to fruition I hope fans protest this like Spanish fans protested La Liga playing games in the US and how everyone protested the Super League.

Football is slowly killing itself. Not the numbers of people watching or playing, but the soul of the game is being destroyed by these businessmen in suits. First was the stupid away goals rule which took far too long to get rid of. Then its the preseason tournaments to cash in on the 'fans' on the far side of the world. Now its playing matches or even finals in foreign continents. Thank God I support a team that will probably never play Champions League football. No one cares about the Club World Cup. No one cares about the Europa Conference League. Stop being greedy FFS! Stop trying to turn Football into American Football. We don't need to grow the sport like they do. Football needs protecting not innovating!

The only good thing about playing some games, playing some gamos of big football clubs like Milan, Juve, PSG, etc in America is the extra promotion that those clubs will have worldwide. A Bayern Vs Juve match in America and with celebrities attending it like DiCaprio, The Kardashians, etc will be extra world wide publicity for those clubs. Giving of course that those clubs are looking for or wanting that extra publicity.

Exactly. It’s been a big reason man city has grown in the last 3-5 years. It’s a huge reason man United grew to where it is now. Same can be said about all the top clubs. American tv money and sponsor money is a big deal. The nfl alone makes 13 billion a year if Uefa can add some to that nfl audience the money will be massive for them. Even a small sport like baseball made $10 billion in 2022 in America.
