Probably the best or second best operating system ever wanted. The bliss wallpaper, the icons, the user interface. Was too perfect. I’m sure everybody here used and loved XP.😊

I've only met windows XP at my childhood, the rest of them (Windows 98, 2000) have been met by my parents since they were from born on the 70's and enjoyed the 90's. I was born in 2002 in my case. PD: When I turned 10 on 2012 my gift was Windows vista (yeah a freaking notebook)

i remember when is was 15 years old upgrading from xp to windows vista to download the iso i was left the modem for 48 hours in my country dsl was available in 2004 but my neighborhood was not having dsl lines so we having dial-up and the internet bill was 600 euros for that month because of many downloads i was doing (games,music,etc) and you can guess the moment that bill came was the most happy moment for all the family

@@ddylan4catsnope. By 2002 people had minimum of 128MB and some had 256MB. If you had asked for 512MB, still you could get it but you could be called crazy for that.😂😂😂 64 MB was the time when people used windows 98. Most of my relatives had this configuration but still their motherboard didnt support xp. They had 815 chipset with P3.

@@diablow1411I got a free copy from my senior at college. Later I downloaded an original copy of Windows xp SP2 from MSDN source in 2004 and SP3 one in 2008. All originals and product key also original sourced from google. I still have that in my collection.

It's a very faded memory, but I feel like when I was a baby, in the early 2000s I was in my moms arms, and I'm pretty sure I saw my dad putting Windows XP on the computer from windows 95. I don't know, but I feel like I remember Windows 95 in a way, but we got XP kinda late. I still grew up with XP, though.

@@Deerhunter360 yeah, i know i just wonder why its only for that one part also cuz i have a dell dimension 4600 and it has lines going down the screen and only boots in safe mode, i attempted to reinstall windows XP multiple times with different images but all of them failed, after about 10-20 min it would completly freeze and only show lines going down the screen till u restart the computer

No need to uninstall. Just wipe out the drive and install windows xp with SP3 for best experience. But hardware shouldnt be later than 3rd gen i3.

Only 64MB ram? That is too little. 1GB ram and a 64GB ssd (be sure to disable defragmentation stuff) is what can make xp fast. You had 98 SE on this, you do have the option to use windows 2000 on this particular machine or in this case VM. Other options include: ecomstation (those upgrades to that os/2), a linux distro for those specs, or any other hidden os that can be researched online.

"You're upgrading your highly powered Windows 98 professional computer with 64MB of RAM". This isn't even remotely true, 64MB of RAM was average at best, even in 1999. As someone who ran a Compaq Presario with a Celeron 400 & 128MB of RAM upgraded from the stock 64MB back in those days, XP ran like shit on that thing, let alone a Pentium 200 w/ 64MB. You really needed at least a 600 MHz Pentium III or an Athlon with a minimum of 256MB to run it properly. I can guarantee you that install too at least 90 mins or maybe even longer, or it would have on real hardware.

XP was really meant to run on P4 systems with 256 MB RAM. You can run it on lower configurations too but with too much frustration. It was blazing fast on Pentium D and core2duo though because of 512MB RAM.

only the first release of xp can just barely run on 64MB RAM. That time new pc came with atleast 128MB RAM and mostly 256MB RAM. The last version SP3 needed atleast 256 mb to barely run.
