Tried making patties during spring with some sugar syrup and bee complete supplement. Patties fermented over time ended up throwing away. The things we try

Yeah. I’ve currently got a tub of sugar syrup that is fermenting due to the natural yeasts in the seaweed supplement I added.

The banana supplement is very interesting and I might look into it if my girls don't sort out the little bit of chalk brood they have. But how do you know how many frames of capped honey to leave for the bees during winter.

I’ll make sure that have full single boxes with either brood or honey to overwinter.

What do you do with any half capped frames over winter?

I have two nucs that will be into full size boxes next week so I’ll be putting them in there, spreading them over hives or extracting them.

Cool vid, cheers. I have experimented a bit by placing a whole banana sliced in half length ways on top of the brood box. The theory was that the scent of the banana puts the bees into a bit of a cleaning frenzy. I think there is something too it, i had actually forgotten about it.

Thanks. Yeah I’ve done that as well and I think it works well. I watched a Bob Binnie talk yesterday where he said just feeding the bees makes them clean. So much unknown
