Mitch, in regards to carrying stones (and other oddities) you bring an interesting and unique perspective because you’ve come to the sport from a general athletic/sporting background and have chosen it (from what you’ve said) mostly because you are good at it and it dovetails with your personal and professional ambitions. A lot of fans and organizers, and some athletes, come to it more from the side of “physical culture” or “strength culture”. And the place Strongman occupies in that subculture is as much about spectacle as it is sport. Recreating traditional and/or legendary feats of strength is a part of the game not because they are objectively good tests for determining the best strongman but because they connect us the the pre-sporting history of strength feats (and look cool of course).

Martins' consistency is amazing to watch. He can top 2-3 in any event. Even if he wins none of them, he might still win a show depending on what errors other people make.

Best of luck for Rogue. A win would be great but even the podium will be a nice way to finish to off the meteoric rise. The off season should be a great time to take a step back from all this frequent competition and focus on just lifting.

The 18 inch deadlift for reps is gunna be really interesting between Wide Pavlo, Martins, Moose, Novikov, AND Rob Kearney. Also as event 1 as well. Should be an interesting battle to start everything out and see how that affects the rest of the contest

Rogue should be close, hard to call. Swithering between Martins and Mitch With a bit of time to WSM and the improvements coming thick and fast, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if Mitch takes the next WSM. I didn't think it was possible in this age for someone to come out of nowhere and do so well.

Having an easy group that you don't have to go all out in is a huge advantage in the final, though. That's part of why Tom looked so fresh this year when it came to the final.
