He's already there! Way ahead. Freddie and MJ and others were definitely musical and performance role models. But then music is an endless weaving, reweaving of covered grounds - very little new under the sun. Yet Dimash manages to produce something unique, inimitable, ineffable❤with his voice and his persona.

The problem is that the world is used to artists that never or rarely move out of one genre so people are not prepared when an artist comes along who loves music, just music, regardless of what genre it is and is determined that he's going to test himself with everything. Even mixing the genres within one song. You can't put Dimash in a box, you don't ever know what he's going to do next. In one month he released to his channel a full on operatic duet with Placido Domingo and a full orchestra and then followed that up with a blues/rock combo with the most awesome guitar solo and incredible music video. His stage presence just keeps getting more and more impressive as he gets older, when he did his solo Almaty concert I could only think that it was like watching Freddie Mercury, Prince and Mick Jagger all rolled into one person but he's so quiet and unassuming offstage (rather like Prince was) that it's startling when his stage persona kicks into top gear.

I really like your comment, Debbie. And that's what's intriguing about him. Especially for me as a fan of music. Not just metal, rock etc. I don't have to be a superfan to appreciate and admire his talent. I can just sit back, smile, and enjoy the experience.

👉 Here is playing the best Kobys player in the world, Dimash’s friend Olzhas Qurmanbeck. This bowl-neck lute played with a bow is is an old Turkic stringed instrument and called Kobys, Qobyz or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak. The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the mother (prototype) of all European string instruments. (Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages. Difference between Turkic and Turkish - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hteom9dzysm6lZs.html ) A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music. The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz.

Funny you mentioned Freddie Mercury. When Dimash was first really introduced to the world, it was on a Chinese singing competition show, "Singer 2017." He was only 22 and on episode 2, he sang "The Show Must Go On." His English wasn't the best because he never spoke English and had to learn this song in only one week. He killed it. There was a comment that Brian May said that Freddie would have been proud. Perhaps if I knew just what your "cup of tea" is, I could make a few suggestions of Dimash's songs you could really appreciate.

I do the same thing with my partner. I make reaction videos and I say to her "OMG - you have to hear this song or band I just made a video for!!!". I sit her down and she is like "Meh - it's good - but it's just not my thing". Ultimately, I don't want to limit myself to only listening to music because I HAVE to be a superfan to enjoy it. Sometimes that happens, other times, it doesn't. It's okay. In the same way I'd like Dimash fans to open their minds and watch some of my videos - not just Dimash reactions - and broaden their music mindset.

Welcome to the world of Dimash! Dimash is the greatest vocalist known to mankind! He is proudly from Kazakhstan! He has an 8 octive range, has been known to sing in 13 different languages. He speaks 3 languages and plays 5 different instruments. He was a child prodigy that proclaimed to his parents (which are also singers) he was going to be a singer at the age of 4. He has been training since the age of 5. He has his Associates, Masters, Bachelors, and now his Doctorin in contemporary and Opera music. He is a MASTER in his craft. He has a very loyal following of his fans around the world! He calls his fans his "Dears". I feel so honored to live in the same time as Dimash. All of his performances are astounding!! @@melvinthinks I'm 78 and grew up in the '50s and '60s. I consider those days musically as the doo-wop era but what really made that time so special to me was the phenomenal amount of different genres of music that was popular at the same time. You'd turn the radio on and the top 100 songs would include doo-wop, pop, rock'n'roll, country crossovers, R&B, instrumentals, folk, jazz, TV show theme songs, Broadway and even an occasional foreign hit from Europe or Asia. Those days from the '50s into the low '60s will probably, regretfully, never be seen again. I wish all who missed it could somehow experience it. I suppose it's possible someone might one day start a radio station and duplicate the era. The music still exists and I bet it could become quite popular. That idea is based on many comments I've seen here on KZfaq from people who have heard a song or two from back then and prefer it to modern music. It would be so much fun.
@melvinthinks

Honest to god, if I could go back in time and relive an era, it would be the 60's. Just everything about that period musically - Hendrix, Zeppelin, Cream, Beatles, Stones, The Kinks, Elvis, Chuck Berry... I could go on. What a time to be alive and witness (even to this day) the legends of rock n roll music. And even in the 50s before then - Little Richard, Buddy Holly etc. All of the great blues player too. It's funny you mention this era because I really want to one day make some reaction videos to some of the classic doo-wop bands. I love the girl groups from that era - The Ronettes, for example. I even did a cover of their song "Be My Baby" for a college project when I was studying music production and audio engineering. It's not too late - why don't you start your own KZfaq channel and share your love of this genre and era of music? It'd be awesome. Especially from someone that lived it.

Next time you can react to his signature and somehow “compulsory” songs. * Dimash - Greshnaya strast (Sinful passion) by A'Studio kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jZ92n6d-qNWcfIk.html * Dimash - Love is like a dream (Alla Pugacheva) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rrJ1hN2X1rXDnGQ.html Yes. At the beginning sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobys. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound. Think he´s singing to migrants in general: "New ground far as I can see, new ground underneath my feet, Stranger in a stranger land, new chance to see who I am if I have the strength to begin again" Reminds me also to the Old Testament; Exodus 2:22 Moses, “And she bore him a son, and he called his name Gershom [that is, A stranger there]; for he said, “I have been a stranger in a strange land.”

Judging by his reaction to these two songs I really don't think he's going to enjoy the two you have recommended. He's more likely to enjoy When I've Got You and possibly even Smoke. When it comes to recommending songs to reactors we need to put our own personal preferences aside and actually focus on the kind of music the reactor actually enjoys otherwise we do Dimash no favours. I actually think that he would probably find Love Is Like a Dream with it's very slow build quite boring. This is not a vocal coach who will hear and see the nuances of the song, just your average UK music listener.

@@ricardosanfernando7378 yes which is good when it's a vocal coach or musician with some musical understanding of the difficulty of some of those techniques but when the reactor is obviously just a "casual listener" it's far better to recommend songs that they can actually vibe with.
