Electric vehicle companies are shutting down all over the country, but what nobodys talking about is how this may be a byproduct of their forced adoption in places like new york.

Toyota's electronics are legendary, I've used the radar tech for 7 years in my 2017 Corolla, I never had an issue. I like Toyota 's approach the semi driverless semi electric cars are being missed. I upgraded to a Lexus, Toyota should go ahead and design one to look like a mobile suit already, that little UX hugs my body and it feels like an extension of me it's so responsive.

That's why only leasing can make sense for EVs. People who buy EVs are either rich, unconscious or both. I heard of quotes up to 50k to replace a battery. And so, clearly they don't want you to own them. In fact, they don't want you to own anything.

Whoever said a clean, quiet and fast EV was incompatible with society? Imagine if EVs had won over gas cars in the early 1900s, and then in 2012 someone says ":you know what, I've got a great idea... we've got these new vehicles that are slower, smellier, and expensive, and they emit this toxic gas that will kill millions each year. And that's not all - we will drill this oil out of the Earth from the far side of the world, then we'll load it up into huge shipping vessels that sometimes spill it all into the oceans, but when it does arrive into our country, then we'll spend insane amounts of energy refining it, and then we'll ship it all across the country in trucks or pipelines, then we bury it back into the ground, and then we charge crazy prices for it. And it's explosive, so sometimes cars will catch on fire and/or explode. The vehicles will also have thousands of moving parts, versus the dozen or so for an EV, so you'll have to get it fixed a lot by people who understand it and like getting their hands all greasy. Oh, and we'll probably have to fight a few wars over this black goo that we use to power these cars." Yeah, see how ridiculous that looks in hindsight?
@pastasoo
@pastasoo 15 күн бұрын
This should hurt as much as it should enrage you because as Europe, Asia and even Australia is moving onto EVs, the US is unable to. It just means the US is falling behind technologically and instead of pushing and fighting for improvement, you're complacent to your situation of not moving at all. Once those EV plants start showing up in South America and they develop EV infrastructure, it would literally only be the US that's going to be using gas powered cars. That's the future you're cheering for.

@teole6364, to be fair, there are apparently MILLIONS of "people" who "think" that it's "good" to "end the lives of innocent unborn children for ANY REASON!!" And that's just absolutely demonic. There may be situations where it is _warranted_ to "end the life of the unborn child" at some stage but "ANY" is the disqualifier because it goes BEYOND "life/death medical emergency, 'my 9 yr old daughter was [redacted] by her daddy'." Those were not the issues in question, those which were are "I don't want no stretch marks, kill it!", "My folks cain't have no mixed-race baby, kill it!", "I don't want no kid right now, kill it!" etc. This is effectively utilizing "abortion as a means of birth control" rather than people exercising SELF-CONTROL. But clearly a godless society moves further and further away from "accountability/personal responsibility/morality" etc., because at that point "all forms of moral law" are left to be "determined by the entity which will benefit or suffer as a result of implementing those moral laws" rather than looking to a "moral-law Giver" such as God....

Retired teacher here. A few decades ago, my district decided to use a math curriculum that had no textbooks. YAY! Massive savings! Let's adopt it for all the grade levels! The problem was that since there were no student textbooks, the teacher had to Xerox each day's worth of material for every single student. So the money they saved by not having textbooks was instead spent on copy paper, toner and clicks. Not to mention all the additional wear and tear on the copiers. As the school year progressed, it became very painfully obvious that the district had made a horrible decision that ended up costing far more then what they saved. That program only lasted a year before it was scrapped. I see the same mind set with EV. And I see the same outcome heading our way. Personally, I think the government already knows this EV thing is heading south fast and right before those mandates kick in, there will be legislation passed very quickly and quietly to push it back a few years. Then, when we still can't meet the timelines, the whole thing will be scrapped. Anyone else remember the great metric conversion attempts?

I agree with you. There are several ways you can go with electric. Luckily they are all plotted out: micro-hybrid, 48v hybrid, hybrid and PHEV/E-REV. For a consumer, the priorities is LOWER GAS COST. Engine start/stop is great, 48V hybrid is great, it should be standard. Everything else adds wayy too much cost to make it worth it, upfront and repair costs. Unless it's a delivery vehicle or taxi, those are great hybrids.

Except that globally, EVs are continuing to gain market share, despite years of people cherry picking months of declining sales and proclaiming the EV revolution is over. While the growth isn't accelerating as fast as it used to, every year sees more and more more EVs sales. Also, costs are going to start coming down significantly over the next couple years. This year alone batteries are expected to drop 50% in price, while also increasing energy density, charging time, cold weather performance, and lifespan. Every year, EVs are getting better and cheaper.

P2 _2023 hottest year next year even hotter_ In China, where one village hit a record 126 degrees in July, leaders warned that extreme heat could threaten the country’s food security. In India, extreme heat closed some schools for more than a week. In Greece, extreme heat was followed by hundreds of wildfires. It wasn’t hot everywhere-in San Francisco, I had to turn on the heat in July. But California was an anomaly, and the average global temperature this year was hotter than ever in recorded history. It’s likely that it hasn’t been this hot for more than 100,000 years. Between January and November, global average temperatures were 1.46 degrees Celsius higher than the average in the late 1800s, according to the European Union’s Copernicus Climate Change Service. September was 1.75 degrees hotter, a fact that one climate scientist called “absolutely gobsmacking bananas.”

Average us citizen drives 40 miles per day and an average EV consumes 300 watt/h per mile. So that’s 12kwh per day. Your HVAC can consume everywhere from 50-100kwh per day. But you preferably would want to charge only when the battery is low and then charge the battery to 80-90%. So then you would have 7-11kw load for number of hours every now and then. Having dynamic pricing would steer drivers to charge when the HVAC load is lower.

EV's are expensive to buy & insure. Takes a long time to charge, & have been known to burn down the house they're parked in. And even after a couple of years of ownership, their trade in value has plummeted. While my Toyota Prius V was cheap to buy used, cheap to insure, cheap to drive. And is so fast to fill I don't even bother climbing back into the car as it fills in about 2 minutes. And after 6 years of ownership, the cars value has remained about the same thanks to Bidenomics!

Insurance is also up to 5x more expensive and tire replacement is about 4x more expensive (plus the tires only last 1/2 as long because of the vehicles heavy weight). When the battery wears out, you have to dispose of the EV as toxic waste because Lithium is toxic to humans, animals, and plants. Plus Lithium will ignite on contact with water, including the water vapor in the air (this is why it was stored under oil in chemistry class when you were a kid and you can find youtube videos of people throwing it in lakes and rivers to cause little explosions).

As someone with a degree in Environmental Science and in Environmental Policy, I can easily say that EVs are not environmentally friendly for a multitude of reasons. Their name should be changed from electric vehicles to coal fired vehicles. Since I got some push back, I decided to expand on the initial comment. You obviously didn't pay attention to the limitations he brought up in this video. The US is a sprawling country based around the car. There are people that live an hour from there work in which the car is the only form of transportation as mass transit isn't viable. Here are a few other reasons it won't work here: 1. In general EV creation is very environmentally unfriendly due to toxic nature of batteries, their mining, use of slave labor for extraction. 2. Limited amount of resources to make batteries over a long time scale, once raw material is gone, which it will go quick if outfitting the entire planet, they're done. 3. Rebuilding an entire nations infrastructure and converting from fuel based transportation to electric. Making every single gas station in the country convert to electric on their own dime (as most stations are franchises and would have to be paid for by the owner). 4. The environmental cost of converting the US to electric with digging up all the old fuel tanks, disposing of properly, land taken over by new charging stations and power plants. 5. Increased pricing. The average person in the US makes less than the cost of the average EV, which if you know anything about finance, you never buy a car that costs more than you make a year as it's not an economically viable decision. Not to mention the cost of installing a charger in the home, or higher insurance rates for the vehicle. This means for lower income people it will take them longer to get into the market. 6. As mentioned in the video, lower reliability of EV cars. They just aren't up to snuff, and people in the US can't afford to have their cars not holding up. Once the battery is POSSIBLY damaged the car has to totaled, leaving the owner carless, out anything they put into the vehicle. 7. Transitioning the US to EVs would be costly in time to due the length of time it takes to recharge a vehicle. There goes long distance travel for work and vacations. Unless the charging is dramatically sped up, there goes multi state travel and family vacations due to people not wanting to spend so much of their time off charging their car. 8. The financial and environmental cost of changing an aging electrical grid across the entire country of the US. The trillions of dollars it would take in the creation of energy creation, storage, distribution. 9. The batteries wear down over time, meaning without extremely costly replacements, an eV will not last as long as an ICE car. People will end up spending more on vehicles long term and it will be harder to get into the second-hand market as people will know their money won't go as far and they'll having that battery replacement hanging over their heads. There aren't going to be any decent used, cheap EVs like it is possible to be a $1500 ICE vehicle, meaning many will have no means of transportation. 10. Then there's the huge problem of adoption. If a decent infrastructure isn't in place to support EVs, like now, usage falls off, meaning less reason to expand infrastructure, meaning less EV purchased and made. It's a cycle that most likely can't be broken giving the issues noted above. I know the argument will be but wait, they'll get better over time to counter the arguments I've made, but with mandated adoption, time is not on our side. 11. There are 283.4 million vehicles registered in the US to 330 million people. 283 MILLION CARS. Good luck telling all the those people with all those cars they've got to scrap them all and buy new ones in the next 10-15 years, along with telling every mechanic they need retrained, every car dealer they need refitted, and so on. The only thing I think viable at the moment is hydrogen based ICEs that can use most of the current infrastructure and would be an easier swap. It amazes me the cult like behavior of the EV crowd who tie their identity so much to an inanimate object, that by criticizing it, they act like they caught you fucking their wife. It's just a car people.

We live in a major city in Canada, we have a small EV for husband to commute to and from work. We only use it for travel in the city. It's not bad so long as you have an adequate range for the commute you need to do. We plug it in at home every evening and it's fully charged for the next day. No issues so far and we're happy with it.

It's because hybrids have some advantages but at the same time combine the worst of both worlds. You still need petrol, do all the maintenance of the engine, build the battery and mine for minerals, need an electric motor and when you really want to be efficient you need a plug-in hybrid, meaning filling the tank AND charging. Such a hassle.

Availability of chargers is only a small part of the EV problem. The dirty little secret they don't want you to know is that the long term pollution of EV batteries far outstrips the footprint of modern gas vehicles. Not to mention, all the critical components to make these batteries come from countries that are hostile to the US, like China. Lastly, a large amount of the mining for lithium battery components is done in terrible, nearly slave-like work conditions in non-first world countries! But hey....at least we THINK we're doing something good, right?

In Vietnam we can buy an EV for 20k$ with a nation-wide charging station network. If you go for a mini-EV it only cost you 10k$. And the price when you charge on a station is only 20-30% higher than when you charge at home. The problems is not about the enviroment, it’s about how much it cost to own and run an EV. The chinese EV brands are the leader on EV race and US gov. doesn’t want them to get in US market. So you got average EV with premium prices, that’s why people don’t want it anymore.

As an EV owner myself I would NEVER recommend one to anyone that's unable to park and charge at home. They're fine for trips actually, but expect to wait 20 minutes every few hours to charge... works for me as even in an ICE car I like to stop every few hours to stretch, use the RR etc, but that's not everyone. But the deal breaker is 100% having to stop and charge when using it for daily driving. Waking up to a full tank every day is amazing... having to think about charging every few days when driving it for daily and having to wait 20 to 30 minutes at a charger? No thanks.
