Somehow I don't feel "Ur fired" inspired by Alan Sugar! His simplistic,"state the obvious" explanations aren't very informative at all.. When he took over at Spurs,he made all of these promises to "Clean House" after Terry Venables was Coach and Spurs had lost a load of cash, bit it didn't take long before he was spouting a litany of excuses why he couldn't this or that! so I don't know about you,but this interview didn't change my mind at all about him and how he views Football and his condescending view towards ur typical fan! Many fans and certainly the "Season ticket" holders have good Jobs, work in all manner of fields and are not the clueless idiots preoccupied with leaking "roofs"he seems to think!.But the likes of him couldn't give a f##k about the people who purchase the Tickets& merchandise!

What is good honest football fans? Football fans are diverse from the pope to the genocidal maniac they all have teams they support, from the racist to the activist. The notion that fans are vehemently the good guys or know what is right is pure fallacy, it's just feeding in too the mobs.

@@Akinwalesegun The average fan is honourable in that they want their club to be run well and don't want to bleed it for cash. Yes, some fans are hooligans. Not really central to my point at all. Just read "football fans" if you prefer.

Unless you have the riches needed to be on the board the only voice you deserve is on the terrace. Why do fans think they run football clubs ? @Deli Dan I'd rather my club Arsenal have the 50 plus rule than have Kroenke own the club. Fans don't scream for owners to spend money or sack managers every day. They may say we are lacking a striker or defender or the manager can't take us any further. You will never see Fans outside owners office saying it's about time you spent 100 million to get into the Champions League. Fans only want the club to run successful on and off the pitch! Fans are for life! Owners are for profit! 50 plus now!

They can be repesentative from a established fanbase community you have like 1-3 on a board who looks own the board handling the club, future plans, direction, dealings, finances of the club which gives more openness and transparency on the handling of the club by the owner and boardroom members.

Football clubs have always been run by owners whose number 1 priority was the amount of money the club can make them, going back to the 1800s. There are very rare examples of a genuine rich fan buying a football club, like Jack Walker at Blackburn, but professional football has always been about the money. A paragraph from the acclaimed book 'The Football man' by Arthur Hopcraft. - 'The running of the majority of professional football clubs remains firmly in the hands of amateurs: of directors who are often obsessed football fans but who have never known the game from where it really counts, on the field in the toughest competition. They look at football differently from the way the professionals see it. They are superfans, anxious for success because it makes them feel better, because it makes them socially enviable, because it nourishes their own ego and that of the community in which they are luminaries.

The fans are the reason owners do what they do. The fans want better players which created a huge demand for better players and pushed the prices up on all players. I Actually like Antonio Conte's idea that owners should come out once or twice a month to the media and have to answer questions on the running, vision and form of the club. It takes pressure off of the managers and the managers don't have to be the bad guy or try to explain decisions that they don't agree with or didn't make.

West Ham owners have a feeling for the fans? Lord Sugar is taking the piss - the owners lied to the fans when selling off ground & moving us to Stratford soulless bowl. His mate Lady Brady called it best ever move to world class stadium - total balls & caused near riots. Giving supporters seat on board a smart move as you can head off problems before they happen & get feel of how reaction might go / take on board suggestions e.g. Cardiff with owner wanting to change kit colours or Hull with name as an example - you don't need to be business man for this, but you do need to be a fan of a club to get it.

Hello talkSPORT, a quick question for you: Is there any chance you can stream Woodsys and Mccoists show on KZfaq please? They are both very professional and come across as good people with little to no argumentative situations, my life is filled with enough of them already that i find it nice hearing sports radio hosted in a non argumentative manner. Thanks guys and girls 🤝

@@TheKh65 Historically, German teams were not-for-profit organisations run by members’ associations, and until 1998 private ownership of any kind was prohibited. The 50+1 rule, which was introduced that year, helps explain why debts and wages are under control and why ticket prices remain so low compared to other major leagues in Europe. And Barca have a very differant structure where fans vote for the chairman . We a suggesting starting from a situation where privately owned or publicly listed companies worth billions of pounds are given or sold to fans.

Sugar is calling it straight here,no bs. Fans need a reality check, the clubs do not belong to the fans, they have there place but it’s most certainly not in a boardroom. Sure all the big 6 stadiums plus maybe Goodison are purely tourist destinations, old trafford could have 90% tourist on match days the others likewise,Fans flying in & out, local supporters couldn’t get a ticket if they tried!!!

If a club'is run well you cannot argue with what's being said. In that fan's shouldn't be near the board, unfortunately though, some club's are only run into the ground by owner's. They don't see the mistakes they make because they're only business men.

Sugar has nothing to add to the discussion. His view is “fans just have to hope they get a benevolent owner”. That wishful thinking has led us precisely to where we are today. Of course there needs to be fan representation on boards. The only question is whether or on what issues they get a veto on board decisions. That’s the tricky part of this discussion.
