I visited Clyde FC to watch them play v Stranraer in Scottish League 2. Clyde Football Club were once one of the biggest teams in Scotland, finishing third behind only Celtic & Rangers in 1967. They currently sit bottom of league 2 and without a stadium to call home.

Great video Sam. The fall of Clyde must be one of the saddest stories in Scottish football honestly. Certainly one of Scotland's top teams in the first 70 years or so of the 20th century. Nice to see them getting a much needed point. Here's a wee interesting fact about Clyde. Bill Struth, Rangers greatest ever manager, was the trainer at Clyde before joining Rangers as assistant manager in 1914.

It’s absolutely tragic what’s happened to Clyde over the years. My grandad used to take me to Clyde games in the 70s. They used to have a great support. I would absolutely love to see Clyde come back home to Glasgow and crown point is my old backyard. Please make it happen as I will be going to see them again and the neighbouring area of Dennistoun has loads of folks desperate to support a team that’s not Celtic or Rangers! Thanks for another great video Sam👏

Great Video of the club ive supported my entire life, 1967 was my first season with my dad and grandfather in fact. Just a small correction you were told in the video by a "Clyde fan" we have never owned our own stadium that however is untrue we owned 2 stadiums firstly Barrowfield Park in 1877 but it was deemed too small, before moving to our new purpose built Shawfield Stadium in 1898 eventually we ran into debt and decided to sell Shawfield with a never ending lease agreed in 1933, only 6 years before our 1st Scottish Cup victory.......... Love all your videos so keep up the good work and hopefully see you in better times.

I grew up next to Shawfield in the 70s and the average attendance back then was about 7000/game! Not exactly a wee club and a lot of Celtic/Rangers/Queens Park fans would turn up if their teams were playing away that week! The Clyde v Partick Thistle derby was an experiance (all the middle-class in Glasgow followed one or tother) and that was lost when they stupidly moved to Cumbernauld!

I'd rather the folk in Hamilton supported Hamilton, Sam. Huge match this week and for a town of 54,000 we'll be lucky to have 1,200 fans. On Clyde, used to enjoy going to Shawfield in the 80s. Think I went four times and only saw us win once. We actually won the First Division title there with a defeat, think it was Clyde's penultimate game there too. Weird saying them in red shirts, used to always be a classic strip of White shirts, black shorts and red socks. Some Accies fans used to go and support them when they shared Douglas Park in the early 90s. Went once myself, mainly to see one of my favourite ever Accies players play for them, Stevie Clarke.

Ironically Clyde didn't qualify for European football despite finishing third in 1967. The Fairs Cities Cup (forerunner of the UEFA cup) had a rule that only one team from each city could play in the competition and, as Rangers finished second in the league, it ruled Clyde out.
@herbertvonzinderneuf8547

@frankboyle2643 This was ironic given Shawfield, where the club were based, is not actually in Glasgow but in South Lanarkshire. Clyde attempted to use this argument with UEFA, but it was pointed out that Clyde participate in the Glasgow Cup. So that was that.

TBF, he was the start of the decline, whatever we think of him, the Clyde name was tarnished, but Clyde managed to keep it low keyed, then when Raith tried to sign him it drew bad attention, the whole thing was blown wide open and gag caused the fall out with the council who owned the stadium

Aw yea, football can be a sad business at times & it's legacy is full of once famous clubs hitting the bad times. I am from way down south so have never had the privilege of attending a Scottish League match. Nearest would have been when I did National Service on Benbecula in the early 1960s. but that was pretty hopeless in that era. I used to be familiar with the home stadia of clubs, English & Scottish & obviously recall Shawfield. Strangely, a few years after that I have mentioned, I married & we found a home in a place called Ash, just down the road from us was a Shawfield Road & it always reminds me of Clyde F.C. even though I have never had any association with the club. As Greavsie often opined. It's a funny old game Saint.

As a jags fan I’m flattered that Clyde dedicate some time out of their day to hate the thistle as we don’t give them a second thought tbh

Get real;.! .... we had been told our lease would not be extended by NLC who then started picking our team for us by not allowing David Goodwillie into the building a player they had ironically sponsored for 3 years. We had no choice but to leave.
