BLUE EYED SOUL. My high school sweetheart, Sharon, and I saw them in San Diego in 1965 at the Community Concourse. They came out in tuxedos & an orchestra....TOTAL CLASS. There were more than a few Black folks in the crowd. I think some thought Bill & Bobby were Black because they hadn't been on TV very much. They were amazing. One of the best nights of my life with Sharon who is still the love of my life..& I am White, 76, and going strong. That's a fact.

I just graduated high school that year. They were amazing. Their songs were constantly in the top 10. In my area they were royalty.

I was in high school when this album was released. Radio stations wouldn't play this song. It was the heart of the 60s and they were well received by all audiences during a time of social upheaval. They bridged a social gap among people of all color.

I was 17 in 1964. In 1963, I helped integrate a lunch counter in my home town. The Righteous Bros' " You ' Lost that Loving Feeling " was the most played song on THE RADIO OF THE 20TH CENTURY. 8 MILLION PLAYS.

I was 13 in 1964 and the Latinos loved them! Later in my life I gave my girlfriend, now my wife of 50 years, the" Unchained Melody " album and their talents still amaze us today!!

Back in the early to mid-sixty's , divorce was frowned on and without 'no fault', it could ruin your reputation. Making love was many things, not necessarily sex. Miss it!: hot cocoa by the fireplace, wonderful back rubs and foot rubs, quiet intimate conversations. . . . ah a girl felt soooooo special! Many things were going on at that time. Watts (LA) and many cities around the states erupted in race riots, the "Love" children were just coming in. Flower power wasn't' really in until the late 60s. Interesting time. The Righteous Bros were so unique they just fit in with so many people. Someone below mentioned that Bobby H died of cocaine overdose, but I believe it was caused by a bad heart that stopped with the coke. Bill Medley is still preforming with a stand-in. I believe he has a full 2022 tour! What a team. I loved their music.

I was 10 years old in 1965. They were played all over the radio. I remember seeing that Andy Williams show that you reacted too. I have always loved them.

Oh, yes!!I was raised in California. From the time Little Latin Lupe Lu was released , we loved them. Even my parents loved them especially my dad, who had been a]professional singer, a Baritone "Crooner" on radio and Opera. All of my friends loved them too, and I never heard any censorship concerning them. Yes, lot of stations wouldn't play what you just did, but we all loved it! Kinda puts you in the "mood" if you get my drift......

I lived back then, I got married in 1964. You could only hear them on the radio and occasionally see them on TV shows such as The Andy Williams show, Ed Sullivan Show, Shingdig. This song wasn’t played on either of the TV shows or on the radio. This song you would only hear if you could afford to buy their albums. It was too suggestive for the times. I really don’t remember when it was originally out. Couldn’t afford to buy the albums. I love these reactions video’s they reminded me of how much I loved them. I have now bought 3 CDs and play them all the time. Still looking for a few songs. At least I can find them on my iPad and save them. Thank all who have played their songs. I really appreciate it.

Annie- you’ve got to get Bill Medley’s cd Your Heart to Mine- all blues, and great! 2007 album. I saw Bill in concert last month and he still has IT! He sang the song he wrote for this CD, This Will be the Last Time ( I Have the Blues) and we gave him a standing ovation!

My mom played this and 'you've lost that loving feelin' quite a lot. Also the Bee Gees, Beach Boys, Roy Orbison, the Beatles (of course), Del Shannon, Marvin Gaye, to name a few.

I remember the Righteous Brothers being ALL OVER the radio back then. That said, THIS song would never have made it onto the air anywhere, I don’t think. The lyrics were simply too hot for the stations to handle. I mean, think about it and ask the Rolling Stones and the Doors about having to change lyrics in order to appear on television. And that was just for “Let’s Spend the Night Together!” This?? WHEW! No way. It’s probably why we don’t have any video of them performing it.

Elvis had a song called One Night of Sin that they had to sanitize to One Night With You because apparently, no joke, it was too raunchy for white, southern, Christian audiences. Given what I know about that group, I'm not entirely surprised.

I'm 75. You got to remember what was going on when this recording came out. Civil rights demonstrations. Anti-busing rallies. Viet-nam. Political assassinations. Race riots. The Righteous Brothers joined the anti-conventional mood of the day by adopting the black soulful sound in their music. This recording was the Righteous Brothers tongue in cheek effort to be "blacker than black". They took this song from blues singer Etta James. The song was then done by Muddy Waters and his guitar. When this recording came out I remember rolling around on the floor laughing as I listened to these two white guys singing Etta's lyrics to Muddy's guitar. I guess it was the Righteous Brothers way of making a social comment on the times.

I'm old enough. I remember The Righteous Brothers playing on the radio in the front seat and me playing on Rebecca in the back seat of my '55 Chevy Bel Air that was the same age as me.

I lived back then and I guarantee that no radio station would play this. I would imagine that certain young people were for bidden buying it by their parents.

You missed out brother. The love of my life Sharon & I saw them at the Community Concourse in San Diego in 1965. Never forget that night. Incredible. Black people came because they thought they were Black...no one left. They were greatly received. The community course had about 30% black people there. They aren't blood brothers. Bill Medley the tall one & Bobby Hatfield is the blond. Bill is still performing. Bobby died of a coke over dose. My all time greatest singers...without a doubt. Play Unchained Melody, You've Lost that Loving Feeling and a lot of others Soul & Inspiration,

Bobby died of 95pct. arterial blockage. There was so little so called coke that it wasn't even certain. Bill said that had he thought Bobby was on drugs, he would have done something. So don't just jump to conclusions about anyone.

There is a fine distinction between "coke overdose" and death caused by arterial blockage accelerated by a small dose of what was presumed to be cocaine. By the way, his favorite drink, gin & tonic can falsely test positive for cocaine. Bobby's hotel room was searched by a forensics team but no trace of cocaine was found. Neither his family nor friends and band members saw any evidence that he was using. And he certainly wasn't acting like a coke fiend.
