I also prefer longer videos but if you need to do short ones as well, that is still wonderful to watch. Yeah those witchy videos are the most controversial and stir up a lot of feedback but hey, that is also pretty good for the algorithm and your channel growth, just work on not giving a shoot and answer with diplomacy and reaffirming your stance.

I love your witchy& whimsigoth videos (I saw the comments so I get why you stopped), but also your how to live cosy. Maybe videos on how you're trying to get inspired, I've been creatively blocked for a while myself. I think you did a shopping vlog once which was fun. I'd watch whatever because I definitely put on playlists to hangout even if I don't care about the topic.

My husband passed away 3 weeks ago after 6 yr battle with cancer. I was his sole caregiver. So now I need to embrace the changes and move on. I'm all for switching things up and learning tips for moving forward. I also had cancer and my oncologist always asked "Have you joyed yourself today?" And isn't that just the whole ball in a nutshell?!" LOL 😀 BTW love your channel whatever the format.

Oh honey. Be gentle to yourself. Do what you want and need to do for you, the heck with everyone else. I promise you there will come a time when you’ll see or hear something, and think of your husband with joy. For me, about a month after my mom passed, I was watching Black Adder, and heard her laughing right with me (not literally heard her, but knew she’d enjoy what I was watching).

Steffi, here’s the thing, I found your channel a month or so ago. In that time, my sister has decided to move on from her giant house and move into a senior apartment. To say she is downsizing isn’t even half the story. I showed her your channel to empower her and calm her anxieties about moving to a small rental. Invaluable to us! I found your channel bc of the aesthetics but have stayed bc of Steffi (and Hilo of course)! It’s so nice to see you growing & finding what serves YOU. Letting go of that desire for perfection/ people pleasing shows that you are growing & letting go of that natural insecurity/ trauma response. A lot of us, especially women, have been bullied or shamed into wanting to be “smaller” in order to be accepted- that we should take up less space to be more likable. We all want to be accepted & liked, but the truth is that there will always be jerks out there, especially toward people brave/ creative enough to put their intimate lives online like you do. so might as well put yourself first + be your lovely self as you want to be :) I’m excited for your changes! I would love to see some thrifting/ vintage shopping videos from you if you’re up for it, the PNW is so gorgeous & full of amazing unique places that would be fun to see while getting decor inspo/ tips in the process. maybe some style/ fashion inspo bc you have such great style too!

In fact, I plan to incorporate your styling tips as inspiration for my apartment when I get one. Probably looking at another year or so before I feel like I'm financially stable enough for that. I would honestly say if you aren’t having fun, we won’t either, right? People are here because they like you, or your style or both. So things like places you enjoy going in Seattle (or beyond), shopping hauls (because I for one like a lot of your style. Clothing. Jewelry. Decor. Etc). Things you do. Places you visit maybe. Some of my favorite KZfaqrs are vlog channels where you get a little bit of everything. I am sure there will be people who come only for styling and that’s where playlists can come in handy, but I like all sorts of things so I look forward to you branching out! 😊

I think this is a great idea. I completely get the whole life turning upside down thing. My Mom passed away in December and I had been taking care of her for the last 3 years by myself. Now that she’s gone, I’m slowly getting back to being me, someone new and different from before. Bringing back some of the things I lost over the last three years and creating some new things. Everything is so different now but I’m up to the challenge.

First off props for putting yourself out there. As a creative you need to constantly evolve. Algorithms inform, but don't necessarily dictate what you should creative. Great video and I'm here for all the changes because I like hanging out with you. I love that video magazine idea. That makes so much sense! Definitely looking forward to that. My favorite videos to watch are cozy vlogs, some silent ones, others softly narrated. I'd love to do those myself but I always fear I'm not 'aesthetic' enough. So maybe someday I'll stop caring what other people think and share my cozy writer cat lady life with people.

Hi Steffi! I'm actually so excited for this evolution. You're so right, some of my favorite videos are the ones with lots of time stamps, where I can listen to it while I do dishes. Maybe I haven't been around decor-tube enough, but you and Caroline Winkler are my favorite decor youtubers because your styles are so unique and don't fall under a specific genre like "midcentury" or beige girlie. I love that you're cozy but in different color palettes than just plants and neutrals. I love plants and neutrals, but I'm trying to be witchy, geeky and cozy, and it's such a hard mix to find inspo for lol. And then to somehow also be compatible with my partner's style preference for vivid bold colors, which I like in doses. Veda is the only other youtuber I can think of who specifically shows off her dark decor. I've started to watch home organizer youtube just to see more eclectic styles. Just in case it helps, I am one vote FOR witchy aesthetic and more talking head moments. It really sucks how some haters get under our skin, even when you know how out-of-line they're being. some criticisms really are just someone's preference, and not about anything being broken. I like thinking of the counterexample, "what if someone LOVES this kind of stuff? What are they like? what are the kind of people who HATE this?" It's like asmr. some people find it so grating, but others seek it out on-repeat. people gotta just find what they like elsewhere, instead of trying to squeeze it out of you. I finally have more time so I'm going to catch up on some of your past stuff. :3

Something quick and easy that you like making for yourself. Like you, i now live alone and struggle cooking for myself. What are your favorite easy go to recipes? I love watching your videos and I'm sure your new format will be great! I began watching you when my husband and I decided to downsize. We had planned to sell our home and move to a condo. Initially, I was led to your witchy content and proceeded to decorate my new living room in the Dark Academia style. Everyone who enters our home seems to love it. After we moved, I found that I appreciated your videos so much that I continued to follow your channel. Although we are of different generations, you and I have much in common. We have many of the same interests. I do think that sensitivity is a part of the nature of creative people, and it allows us to be empathetic towards others. The rare and unnecessary negative comment is usually meant to draw you into someone's drama. Leaving it alone will encourage them to simply move on. Instead, reread all the positive and uplifting comments! I'm thrilled that you have set goals for yourself to speak about the topics that YOU'D like to mention. That's how friends exchange thoughts. We share with each other what is on our minds in turn. One of my favorite quotes is "Friendship is the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words"--George Eliot. It has always been true for TV personalities and celebrities, and now also for KZfaqrs, that the viewers tend to form a virtual "bond" with the presenter or characters. We watch you from the comfort of our homes, we share your ups and downs, and the vast majority of us care about your feelings and the effort you put into each online "meeting". Please don't hesitate to just be Steffi. We are more than fine with the witchy content. We like you as you are! I am truly looking forward to the new longer format.

I am certainly down with you talking about whenever, and just hanging out with you. Would love to do that. I love that you recommended ALT - J. I just went out to iTunes to check them out. I am sorry someone was so rude to you. Hurting people hurt people is a great concept (and I am a counselor) but it is hard to handle when you cannot imagine ever treating another person like that. Go be miserable somewhere else please lol. I have told you several times that I have watched all your videos. I think bc you are so authentically you is why it feels off when you try to fit a mold. Do whatever you want to do with YOUR channel and people can leave or stay. I hope you do feel more comfortable with sharing more personal stuff. We will be here for you.

Love that black table behind you!!! 😍🖤 You're so well spoken on the difficult experiences you've had and I like to get to know the creators of channels I like. I can't wait to see the videos you create while enjoying creating them! The work that creatives make while enjoying the process is the best. I'd love to see the content you want to create outside of home decor. I'd totally hang out with you on KZfaq any day of the week, decor or not! 😊 As a creative, I can confidently say that we go through evolutions in our work. It can feel really weird or risky to embrace but it IS a good thing. Creating shouldn't be a chore. It sometimes becomes that and needs to shift. People grow and change, so does our work. And as an online creator, being the face of your work is a good thing. People like to know the creator! That commenter is a 💩 The strong impact of the negative comments is valid even if it's infrequent. I have some advice for that- keep a document on your computer where you copy paste your most positive viewer comments. Put all the ones you can find, give yourself a long read of actual words people have said about your work. When a negative comment gets to you, go read it. I also really enjoy long form videos. I'd love to see home decor trend videos. This will be a horrendous, terrible description of what I mean- but I would like to see something like how to include a trend without spending a ton of money and also how to achieve a look/trend with items from a certain store like "how to get ___ style for under $___ at _(store_)." If that makes any flipping sense at all...

How about? Chat about whatever moves you, but in each video, recommend one song, or one band, recommend one food item - doesn’t have to be a full recipe or anything, could be a coffee/coffee concoction, recommend one item like a simple candle, whatever, or any of it just occasionally

First of all, there are horrible people that apparently live to just make other people feel shitty and write awful stuff about someone they don't even know. Alexandra Gater got a comment once that said something like, "You wouldn't know design if you ate a design sandwich". You will not please everyone and it's easy to fixate on the few comments that are hurtful in a sea of hundreds that are not. That said, there are a whole lot of us that love your videos and think you are anything but boring and feel that you have a lot of valuable expertise to impart. Know that we are the ones that really matter because we keep coming back. Hopefully those other shallow hurtful idiots will choose to stay away. And I don't think we have a problem seeing your face. I doubt we'd want a video where we don't see the person we've tuned in for. I've gotten a lot of great information and tips from you over the past 3 of 4 years that I've been watching you. I hope the tips don't go away completely. I also really liked the witch aesthetic stuff - sorry people might have read super negative stuff into it. Anyway, as one of your biggest fans, I've loved your videos and have never once felt they were what you're afraid they were becoming. And while I really hope that you keep some of the "old" Steffi, I am looking forward to seeing what what the new vids will be like.

Jesus fuck, who the heck is that rude person. I like not having a lot of visuals to look at because most of what I listen to is while I'm driving, so I almost exclusively watch videos where it's just a person on camera talking. You're only human, so it's natural to internalize the 0.001% of negative feedback. But your videos are an expression of yourself, and no one is for everyone.

The difference between different styles and different techniques. And the outcome would be about the same. Let's say you have your house Bohemian country. Does that mean you're fashion statement is Bohemian country? Where is your house just full of mismatched items and really nothing matches and and you don't know what your style is?
