spoilers dont really bother me i actually like them, but what i dont get is why people are mad about spoilers like cmon it just makes you more hyped, but honestly in my opinion i think people raging over spoilers is a waste of time and energy wouldnt you guys agree?

The nerf to droughts could be that you get thirsty faster.

From what I heard from year or 2 ago droughts are planned but flooding would be a lot tougher to do

droughts mean people have to come to a more condensed spot, that would buff the deino as now they have less water to cover where you can drink from

I don't, being on the ground for a herrera should be very dangerous and only done when needing to drink or maybe even drag a body up a tree. It's the only time when herrera is vulnerable, so it should be average speed and not fairly fast imo.

@@ellidominusser1138 Maybe. Herra was my main in Legacy and often the only thing that kept it in one piece was speed and the ability to jump. Being snack sized, it did not survive most first bites from other dinos. I hope I don't have to live in just the trees 😀

That's about realistic, too. The largest Elephants on this planet either die of old age, or they make a stupid mistake that weakens them and then they get eaten. Having the larger apexes be damn near invincible except when they make a mistake (falling off a ledge, aggroing a herd of stegos, etc.) would be both realistic and fun.

This is actually the best idea I have heard in this comment. Just imagine getting chased as a mid size Dino by an apex then said apex makes a stupid decision (eg. Jumping off a ledge that you can but they can't) and now you can make a choice: 1. Keep running. Letting them heal but you will still have all your strength to fight another day or 2. Fight the now vulnerable apex that still poses a danger against you but now you have a fighting chance of kicking them out of your territory or getting prized meat This will also keep apexes on their toes instead of the usual "my stat is better than you now die" making apex more respectable. When you see a full grown apex, You (hopefully) will no longer see "wow he *sits* in a bush for more than 2 days straight" instead you will see "oh shit, I'm not messing with a guy who *survived* more than 2 days" Well unless it's a server where you can buy growth then this entire thing falls apart

And divebombing will have to have a kind of skill to it, because if you miss your target your target will know you're there and they are in the perfect position to counterattack and you're not in a tree anymore so you can't escape as easily.

agreed. They're slow but this game has so much potential and every introduction of a unique mechanic or dino changes the game, so i'd rather they put time and love for detail into it. In 10 years or so this will be such a cool game if they continue with the slow but steady pace and quality updates

It's fun but the server issues like ping and fps drops on isle evrima are seeing a drastic loss of Player base. People have less issues with unofficials servers

@@The4j1123 To be fair, it's probably because I play official and there's rarely any eggs, herbs and smaller dinos, pretty much everyone plays carnivores in the centre, and anyone not fully grown is sitting afk in a bush somewhere. Ptera feels kind of pointless unless you enjoy hunting ai, which I don't.

@@cagxplays9602 What makes Ptera fun for me is on the chill nights, when you don’t have enough time to invest in a full Dino or you’re too tired to put in the work after a long day. You play like a scavenger, looking for openings to snag food from the fresh kill when the packs not looking. You watch battles ensue, you follow a pack from above and spectate their adventure- it’s a chill-based experience for sure, definitely not one as engaging as the rest, but it has its place!

NETS. THAT'S WHAT THE ANIMATION WAS. Humans might be able to net the rex, and pin it for an easier kill. I thought it looked kind of funky, the way the legs were splayed out like there was even pressure across its whole body instead of at a specific point.

@@MrFr5nk honestly, i don’t think that we gonna see gateaway before mid 2024. its true that the new dinos are almost complete, but „almost“ in the isle means months

That whole spiel about pinning the rex was most likely BS hype nonsense. The baby and juvie would have needed the animation so it's there. The idea they have so many big dinos in the works when they aren't even putting rex on official is laughable.

The only Carnivore not a hyper that's big enough to pin a rex in the roster is spino and deino and a mosa. Everything else is easily 2-3 tons lighter in its size range.

the thing is any large apex herb/carnivore drastically shifts the balance of the roster economy. the fact its going to only be ai on officials means more things will play mids, which are diverse and can have pros and cons without risk of being op against everything. most large herbivores from whet im seeing in comments are also going to be ai only, stego apparently on officials will only be ai too it seems, which is completely fair because then they are an unbiased threat against everything and everyone, kind of like a boss battle. the limited ai for fights will make them actually a fun challenge too, something people might team up to kill for the reward of food and maybe there would be achievements attached too. diablo is playable because it's basically a mid tier, maybe upper mid but given how easy it is to kill most anything in the game with their fragile builds it will be a top only because it will be more tanky than most everything else. that said it will have certain weaknesses, like its large surface area will make it prone to grabs, so troodon venom will be very strong against it. anything that latches will have an upper hand, and anything that bleeds it will also have a decent chance. some things MIGHT be able to survive a hit from it's horns too, something rexes wouldnt allow. any rex/apex will one shot most things so it's really better for players to be able to have that fear factor from them existing as ai to keep the thrill there, but not let them BE the fear factor, because a swarm of rexes in the fields killing each other and everything would ruin the horror aspect, immersion, and general vibe of encountering a lone one when you're traveling the forests alone and hear heavy steps of a lone creature behind you.

@@slimeskelly1027 I agree with this to a point. But balance can still be achieved via certain milestones needed. For example, much longer growth periods. Vulnerable growth stages, slow movement and preferred food being apex herbivores or their own kind. Plenty of people would still play mids, as these handicaps (which were presented in the original isle to a smaller degree via speed and growth time) are not desirable for all players. Slow movement, and high risk long grows, that are at risk of a quick death in apex combat are not as problematic as it seems if balanced right. Player rexes were also great fun to hunt in dedicated mid packs (like the utah and Dilo.) Removing the player aspect of the apex predators like the rex to be replaced by AI. Sounds like a boring downgrade to me sadly.

Well to be fair it’s not exactly balanced when it has to take 5 deinos just to kill 1 stego so this was kinda inevitable.

@@steakinbacon8593 there’s always a top dog, nature isn’t balanced. Furthermore there are carnivores not yet added that absolutely could take a stego. They should add and not subtract from the game. From purely a gameplay standpoint there needs to be at least one “noob tube” a safe gateway Dino that gets people into the game. The isle can be pretty daunting.

​@@TroaBartonwell, it shouldnt be the stego, theyre comparable in mass, so in theory 1 or 2 deinos should have a realistic chance of taking them down, with much better odds if theyre at waters edge or in it. They shouldnt be looked at like hippos and modern crocs.
