Kind-of sad but knowing everything was just handed to her, i can't say that I feel super bad for her. Now she will have to do what the rest of her type has to do, marry.

Truck series has many breaks mid season so ofc she will be posting things on social media. Plus NASCAR is becoming a very expensive place to race. If you guys don't ever watch post race interviews drivers are always thanking their sponsors. Deegan just has a platform to promote hers differently than anyone else. NASCAR "Fans" need to look at the bigger picture and just not based off of stats. She has ran well in top 10 but if you actually watch 11th and below its hell and no one can have a clean race. Its all about the people around her so before you mad e big statements think about what its like to race the trucks and what racing those drivers are like. I think she has talent but is stuck in a drought in trucks and needs more time in Xfinity to really see the skill behind the wheel.

Aside from Gilliland, the only West Series champion since 2000 to have any success in the upper divisions is Brendan Gaughan. Meanwhile, the East Series has had champions like Logano, Larson, Rhodes, Byron, Haley, Burton, Mayer, and from the looks of it, Sammy Smith. Maybe that's why the West Series is always struggling with entries compared to the East Series. East drivers are just more likely to succeed.

The equipment she has at her disposal and the people she has around her at ThorSport she should certainly be performing better. The one thing I have noticed with Hailie is when Ford have sent her to run the GT4 Mustang in the Michelin Pilot Challenge at Daytona the last 2 years she has actually performed pretty well there. It could be in Ford's interest to consider moving her over towards that IMSA side of things on more of a full time basis.

I stand by the idea that she should give at least one season in the Xfinity series a try. She’s on the hot seat right now as a nascar driver. I won’t deny that. However, I only declare someone a nascar bust if they’ve tried everything there is to try in the sport, from trucks to cup, and they come up short in all of it. She has struggled in trucks, but if you look at the truck series over the past few years, only three or four good drivers have come from that series to have stable careers like Smith, Hocevar, Rhodes, and Creed. Not to mention, nowadays, with drivers having no knowledge of the terms “respect” and “sportsmanship”, the drivers who aren’t the five or six that are actually competitive like Smith, Hocevar, Rhodes, Crafton or Caruth treat the race like it’s a local fairgrounds demolition derby. It’s like they don’t care what happens to others around them at all. That’s not a good environment to produce talented, knowledgeable drivers out of. Hornaday and Skinner said very much the same thing recently. I know that’s a very cynical way to look at things, but still… something has to be done to improve driver attitude in the trucks, maybe even in all of NASCAR, because eventually, this kind of disrespect will get someone hurt. Sum it up, I say get Deegan out of trucks, and into Xfinity equipment, and see how that goes for at least one season. If all else fails, at least she has her off road racing roots to return to. She won a championship there if I’m not mistaken. I’m not saying that she should just be given a ride just like that, but at the very least, she deserves one last chance to prove herself, before it’s time to cut losses and move on. And lastly, NASCAR needs to get these young, overeager drivers in line, so the honor and dignity of our sport can be saved.

Hailie Deegan... Welp, for me, I saw her as a hit or miss. In ARCA, I saw her as doing quite good enough. 3rd in K&N West in 2019, 3rd in ARCA, not bad. When I saw that she was heading to Truck Series, I felt like she wasn't gonna set the world on fire by running very much out in front on the regular, but now looking at 2021 and 2022. I wonder if her transfer to ThorSport was a good thing or not, and it seems it wasn't. Driving for a Championship Contender team and barely cracking a top 10 in like after the first half the season... Just underwhelming. But seeing her finishing 13th in 2022 at Las Vegas just makes me wonder. What on earth is going on with her? I mean, I'm feeling that the Danica Patrick effect is still kicking, but, idk. 1) she has seemingly put far more focus on being a KZfaq/Social Media influencer than she has racecar driver over the last couple of years. 2) I’m not gonna talk up a 13th place finish when there are only around 15ish cars capable of running up front any given week (the 4 JRM cars, 3 JGR cars, 2 RCR cars, 3 Kaulig cars, and 2 SHR cars. Maybe a few others like the 48, 27, and 25 depending on the race and cars like the 77, 07, and 28 if they have the larger team support due to the driver). Deegan tan 13th in the exact car that Cole Custer had won at Autoclub in earlier in the year. Sure, put her in a few more Xfinity races, but I don’t think it’ll make a difference. Hocevar has run really well in his chances in the Spire (JRM) 77. 3) we all know the only reason she has the seat she has and it has nothing to do with her talent. Her ARCA stats are anything to get excited over. She’s in the truck because she bring funding from Monster and she’s a girl which is great publicity. Why else is someone with an average finish of 17-20 winning most popular driver? It would be like Corey Lajoie or Michael McDowell winning most popular driver.

I think, Darian, that the reason for Hailie's state performance is that, while she's proven that she can drive a racer, especially in competitive equipment, she doesn't have a solid crew chief that would provide the essential ingredient of champagne chemistry in what separates good drivers from the greats. For example, if one followed Hailie Deegan as she vlogged her experience(s) competing in the Camping World SRX Series, the chemistry she had with 'Hollywood' Jeff Hammond felt reminiscent of, say, Jeff Gordon working with Ray Evernham or Jimmie Johnson working with Chad Knaus. It's why that dynamic served as the focal point in the 1990 film 'Days of Thunder,' and why the recent dynasties of Formula One are backed-up by the winning combination of driver(s) and Team Principal. If one had competitive Xfinity Series equipment, and came up with a game plan to elevate Hailie to NCS competition within three years, orchestrate a packaged deal between Deegan and Hammond in a formula for success. Similar to how Rick Hendrick signed Jeff Gordon and Ray Evernham 31 years ago. It's why Danica Patrick may be looked back upon as the Raul Boesel of NASCAR. A wonderful driver who never won a race. Danica proved she belonged in competitive equipment, yet she did not have that champagne chemistry that would have propelled her to further greatness.

Haley's issues is she lacks hunger. If she had spent a number of seasons learning and earning her ride and advancement down in a short track series she would be a much different driver. Had Haley spent a few seasons in a short track series where banging fenders is a matter of course and drivers need to learn the aggression that Haley doesn't have. In Haley's defense, many of the new young drivers have a similar issue that Haley has; quick progress at a young age through the the "lower" ranks and ending up struggling in the trucks and Xfinity series. Then these young, talented, but very inexperienced drivers get into a situation where now they are in a make or break situation with their career. When divers are 21 and looking at their racing career ending while in the truck series there is an issue. The on track things drivers need to understand and be willing to do should be learned at a place like Greenville Pickens or North Myrtle Beach, or Eldora, not at Daytona or Charlotte. If I was a team owner with a driver like Haley, especially Haley, I would pull her out of the full time truck ride and send her on the road to the late dirt series with some paved ovals mixed in. Tell them "win your way back to full time trucks". Haley Degan is a pretty face with allot of money behind her. She will not improve because she has no motivation to improve. She is marketed by her sponsors and as long as she is able to rep their brands, sell their products, and be a spokesperson that gives sponsors a return on investment, she will fail to impress in any series she drives in.

What's now ARCA West was more shallow back in 2019 than anyone who wasn't paying attention to advanced stats realized. Her 1.76 PEER in that series was ranked second, but she posted an equivalent rating in her part-time ARCA East schedule that year and ranked midpack. ARCA National was also incredibly shallow in 2020 - she was one of four drivers who ran the full schedule for a competitive organization, and posted no wins. There were warning flags that she wasn't ready, but I'm also not sure where she could have gotten ready in a better fashion. It's also worth noting that before turning to NASCAR, she tried to follow in her father's footsteps in short course trophy truck racing, specifically the now-defunct Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, but stalled in the Pro Lite division - basically equivalent to the Xfinity Series within that sanction.

In my opinion, Hailie Deegan will go down as a NASCAR Truck Series Bust. However, that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have any talent. As many have said, she finished 13th in her Xfinity debut. While impressive, I am currently not sure if she will be a consistent contender for wins. She has also shown a lot of talent in SRX and in the Michelin Pilot Challenge. If things don’t go well for her in NASCAR, I think she’ll do well in other forms of motorsport. If there’s a place where she could possibly turn her season around, it will be at Mid Ohio next weekend because she ran well there last year and has been okay on road courses.

@@illlllsmoke lol SHR hiring talent over sponsorships? That's a riot. They're literally keeping Almirola from retiring at the moment because they need his Smithfield sponsor. Just like they kept Danica Patrick aboard longer than she deserved because of her sponsors. Same reason they hold onto Riley Herbst and his Monster sponsorship even though he flat out stinks. SHR is no beacon of good hiring decisions. Their driver lineup next year is going to be Josh Berry, Aric Almirola, Chase Briscoe, and Ryan Preece. It's a joke. Harvick is the only reason SHR is even relevant right now. They missed the opportunity to get Larson when he was available. They missed the opportunity to get Kyle Busch because they decided to rehire Almirola (again because of sponsors) and they were stuck in contract with Preece which is quite possibly the worst hiring SHR has done yet. What anybody sees in Preece, I don't know. They're stuck with Custer because he's Gene Haas' nephew or whatever but at least he does well in Xfinity to warrant staying there. Kurt Busch left SHR and did better, Suarez left SHR and is now doing much better as well. It wouldn't be a shocker at all if Deegan ends up in Xfinity for SHR as that's about her only destination if she insists on staying with Ford. Unless Penske comes out of the woodwork and enters back into Xfinity then there's no other options with Ford besides SHR or an SHR aligned satellite team. JR Motorsports is not an option because it's not a Ford team and she's not leaving Ford again.

@@trainofthough0242 That's a good google review. Thanks. Kurt Busch didn't leave SHR bc of performance. Suarez is doing better but it's bc Track house is very fast. Some drivers need very good equipment to look decent. Your assessment isn't terrible but it's about what an average fan would say. Their line up next year a joke? Very far off. Btw. Every single team that actually competes in nascar has to have sponsorships. Look at Mtj. Before this year everyone said he's lost it, there keeping him for his bass pro shop sponsorships. No one is saying that now. SHR's line up next year, facts, in the last 2 years everyone of them have won races. But to an average fan I understand your take. How many races has Haley deagon won in the last 3 years? 0. Berry, Almirola, Briscoe, Preece all have won races in that time. And Shr won at Chicago too. But your right. They have no talent and just want them for their sponsorships. Wow. So out of touch

I ended it by saying "Ryan Vargas, Chandler Smith, & especially Hailie Deegan, you've... been... warned." Darian called me a "nutcase" as a result, but it turns out the actual nutcases were in fact the Deegan defenders, & especially those who are *simps,* which over 90% of Deegan's "fan base" is. I see that Darian has learned his lesson. Darian may have been the one to introduce the racing community to Natalie Decker, but we all knew of Hailie Deegan before she came into to NASCAR. In double the time & opportunity Deegan got compared to Decker & in equal or better equipment, Deegan hasn't been able to get a Top 5 like Decker has _(But Dragon, that was at Daytona, anyone can get a Top 5 there;_ Then take away one of Deegan's Top 10's because Talladega). Yeah she's gotten a few Top 10's, but everyone thought she'd be an absolute goat by now for some reason. Now here she is in *ThorSport equipment,* & while everyone & their grandmother insisted that Johnny Sauter is "wAsHeD", Princess Hailie is doing about the same or more often that not *worse* than Sauter *when he was being guinea pigged by ThorSport,* & in Sauter's truck! Face it. Y'all overhyped the heck out of Deegan. And now she's a certified NASCAR Bust. At least with Decker you have DGR (Now Tricon) not giving a damn, health ailments, & lack of sponsorship as to what's been holding her back & why she's been racing part-time & trying that Twitch streaming endeavor thing of hers since the end of 2020... Only one of those reasons applied to Deegan, & she's not with DGR/Tricon anymore. Honestly I really hope she's gone from NASCAR after this year. This *can't* continue for her. For Deegan's sake, she needs to go back to the off road trucks. She's actually good there & she'll be happier there. She doesn't have to worry about the simps as most of them will just go away, & she doesn't have to worry about being guinea pigged or being apart of manufacture's stupidity.

There is a couple of things to take into consideration. When she first started in late models/K&N it was her primary focus. When she moved into ARCA the brand deals were coming her way and also she decided to also build up her own channel. When she entered trucks she started dating Chase and started doing merch and other things. To me her focus is not NASCAR. She can say it all she wants but you can see it in her videos. She cares more about her social media than she does about making it in NASCAR. I don't know if it is because of just how bad she started out in Trucks demoralizing her or if the want to do well faded and now she is stuck because of her contract with Ford. But I genuinely don't think her heart is in NASCAR anymore. Now if she did get a ride in Xfinity and just started doing well I will take it back but right now I honestly think she should have stayed in ARCA for a couple of years not immediately jumping into Trucks. I think she was too fresh in Trucks and she really didn't have the practice outside of short tracks. She needed more time with Speedways and super speedways before moving into trucks. And honestly most of what she is learning in trucks will not transfer over to xfinity and cup. She probably could have skipped trucks altogether and probably been just fine. Edit: Also just because someone has a championship crewcheif doesn't really mean anything. It is more of the relationship you have with your crew. I have seen the way he will look at her when she is explaining her car to him. Everytime it seems like someone looking at someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. I am not saying one way or the other on what she knows. But you need a crew chief that will listen. Because in the end of the day it doesn't matter what the crew chief thinks what matters is how the driver feels. There has been a few times I could tell Hallie has asked for something in the car and based off her race vlogs it doesn't always seem like she is getting the adjustments she is asking for. You can be in the best car in the race but if it doesn't feel right you are not going to race well.

To be honest I feel like the trucks isn’t really a place to show the full potential of a driver I would love to see if Deegan could try again and Xfinity but I’m not sure if that would happen judging by the past couple seasons

I say give her a 1 year deal in Xfinity and that deal determines if she continues to race or not. She brings funding, so why wouldn't a smaller team take a chance and see if she's cut out to be a future star.

She has a humongous fan base and is only 21 yrs old, development time is needed. She is a goldmine for NASCAR and is good enough to still perfect her craft.

I’ve said this a lot and I’m going to keep saying it. GET HER OUT OF THE TRUCK SERIES! I think the truck series has just become absolutely terrible recently and you can make the arguments about their current big 3 of sorts. Well I’m still not quite sold on hocevar but anyway, 13th in her xfinity debut. Clearly that’s where she needs to be instead of with people who other than a few exceptions can’t drive to save their lives.

This makes no sense. If she’s 18th in a series of people who “can’t drive” how can she be expected to perform better in a series with better drivers Surely she’d get better results against worse drivers than better ones?

So... Why does she suck as well in Xfinity? Excuses excuses. She's DEAD LAST in the Xfinity standings. You Deegan simps are a disgrace to real racing fans.

I'm going to wait and see how she does in some Xfinity starts. The racing seems cleaner and more her style. Trucks can be pretty...uneven. You get taken out by other people WAY too much in trucks. Maybe she's a bust, but I'd like to see her run several Xfinity races before passing judgement. Now I do wish she'd worry a little less about being an "influencer" and getting, um, accessorized in the off-season, and a little more about her driving. But otherwise I like her attitude.

I had high hope for Deegan when I saw how she was preforming in the lower series. I'm however disappointed in her Truck series stats. Honestly if I was a Xfinity series owner I'd be hesitant to put her in a car full time as of now. She doesn't even need to win in my opinion just be more consistent. Time will tell.

I was excited to see what she could do when she first started, but I don't even look for her in the standings anymore...I know it's probably 20th or worse. If she wasn't tied to Ford so closely I could see JRM giving her a shot in a couple of races, but not a full season initially.

There’s definitely some time for her to turn it around. But let’s hope she doesn’t end up like Danica. Maybe an Xfinity series ride would be better. But I think she would have to get at least a top 15 right off the bat.

I've been off the bandwagon for over a year. Also out of the 3 top series, the xfinity series is definitely the one were the car is biggest determining factor in your performance. Just look at all the randoms that just hop in for a race in top equipment and compete for the win. Or drivers that compete for championships but do nothing when they move up to cup.
