701.31b Monstrous is a designation that has no rules meaning other than to act as a marker that the monstrosity action and other spells and abilities can identify. Only permanents can be or become monstrous. Once a permanent becomes monstrous, it stays monstrous until it leaves the battlefield. Monstrous is neither an ability nor part of the permanent’s copiable values.

For future reference, you can only be in one dungeon at a time, so gaining the initiative progresses you through the dungeon you are already in by one room rather than also entering the undercity. Wouldn’t really have affected the outcome in this case, but worth knowing! Also Angel of Finality couldn’t have exiled Eilidh’s graveyard because she had protection from creatures, so she wasn’t a legal target. Now I feel like I have to say I love the show, it really feels just like going to my LGS to hang out and play with whoever is there!

Also with pathlighter out and hitting two players she ventures twice. Then the initiative triggers on her upkeep specifically after gaining the initiative.

Yes, it does also trigger on upkeep, but you venture when you take the initiative as well

@@deadhothead and she forgot the radiant solar trigger when pathlighter enter the battlefield. So basically it was cast of radiant solar, into the last room of the dungeon draw, sefris brings back pathlighter which has enter on ETB because of radiant solar. Attack for two triggers of pathlighter and and then gain the initiative to finish off the dungeon again on the same turn.

I play a Sefris deck, and my god it's so incredibly easy to miss venture triggers. The sequencing of triggers on the stack is honestly maddening, especially when you start completing multiple dungeons a turn while still having Venture into the Dungeon triggers on the stack. Becomes very Solitair-y.

A card that has been cast for its escape cost goes to its owners graveyard. You can repeatedly escape the same spell as long as you have the cards to exile, which is why underworld breech is such a strong card in cedh

So when u get the initiative you go to the undercity. But if u already on another dungeon. You just go to the next room on the current dungeon. Because u cant go to two separate dubgeon at the same time. Its also aplied if you were on the undercity, you just go to the next room whenever you "venture to the dungeon"

Love the channel and this episode. As a big Sefris fan, I was thrilled to see you play it, but I think you may have missed an early combo win at 53:50. Once you get radiant solar on the field, you would get extra venture triggers every time a creature hits the field (you missed a few). The combo win would need you to have a sac outlet, but I’m pretty sure you had access to one in your graveyard. If you had your clone come in as a copy of the radiant solar, used the “take the initiative” trigger to keep plugging through the same dungeon, pick up the venture triggers from your attack, and from your mulldrifter, I believe you’d have enough triggers to recur and sac karmic guide and any other creature to loop the dungeon and kill everyone with the life loss room.

Short note: when a Player has Protection from creatures je cann‘t be the Target of triggered abilities from creatures like Angel of Finality

Not true. Any player or permanent with protection from some identifier, i.e., "protection from creatures," means that _creatures_ may not target or deal damage to the player or permanent that has protection. Which means that as long as a player has protection from creatures, they cannot be dealt damage from creatures, even if the damage isn't targeted, since protection reduces the damage dealt to 0. Example: Klothys, God of Destiny. Situation: I have protection from creatures; you control Klothys. If Klothys is a creature, I take no damage from his ability. If Klothys is only an enchantment because you don't have devotion, then when Klothys would deal damage, my protection from creatures does not apply, despite the damage never being targeted (i.e., "deal 2 damage to each opponent.")

First of all, your channel is great. Love the videos, lots of laughs and silliness, really great guests. Also want to note how cool it is to see MTG youtubers who are parents (or parents-to-be.) I am a parent of two young kids and I definitely spend more time tinkering with decks and watching channels like yours than I do actually playing the game, and it's nice to see that other people doing this thing are making the most of it while in a similar stage of life. Keep the fun alive!

Great game! Love this channel so much. Also, escape spells don't exile themselves after casting, only the cards in the graveyard as part of the cost, which is why Uro and Underworld Breach are such broken cards. But also, Ashen Rider exiled the escape card I believe, so it was actually correct.

Great video as always ladies! I'm loving Olivia's slow descent into madness (or burgeoning rap career, you decide). As for theorizing the surprise guest, there's way too many options! Both Alias and Olivia are so prolific in the Magic community. My heart hopes for the Prof, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was Gavin Verhey or Josh Lee Kwai.

I noticed that Alias ventured into 2 different dungeons because she got the initiative but actually that's not possible. Venture into the dungeon actualy says "advance to the next room or start a new dungeon if you're not in a dungeon". The initiative almost has the same wording, only it let's you go into the under city if you are not in a dungeon. Therefor you cannot have 2 active dungeons. Probably it didn't matter, but just a heads up for future games 😉

Great game as usual! Cheers from Argentina. Btw, when you target Phantasmal Image with Victimize, while on the stack you have to sacrifice PI due to being the target of a spell. This causes that when Victimize resolves, there is no valid target for sacrificing and thus are not able to revive them 2 creatures;)

But the Sacrifice part of the card doesn't target. Only targeting is the cards in Graveyard so I believe we did it correctly.

If you already are in a dungeon when taking the initiative you just go to the next room.

I just built a full dungeon/initiative/party deck with sefris nd it is surprisingly fun to pilot! Last time I played I copied Radiant Solar with Sakashima the impostor and completed something like 10-15 dungeons of the mad mage in a single turn (went from 46 cards in the library to 9 before managing to stop lol)

Mind Flayer isn't bad. Roil Elemental is bad. I run it in my Aesi deck. Also, absolutely love the amount of mill in this game. It warms my cold blue mill heart.

Not going to lie, I actually pulled Roil Elemental from my Tatyova deck, it just didn't make sense to run it when I could just replace it with the wildly better Flooded Shorelines, which people find much harder to remove (and can go nigh-infinite, if not infinite if I have a cheap enough creature to play, who doesn't want a Simic deck that just combos off?), and if they remove Shorelines, they don't get their mana/resources back, their stuff is still bounced.

Whoever took the damage from N'ghathrod should have milled 10 cards because haunted one bumped it to 5 and mindcrank doubled the n'ghathrod mill trigger

Theros block was my intro to magic! Monstrous is a property of the card, it is not linked to the counters. Also it doesn't use the stack! :D

It wouldn't change anything to the game, but Muddstah couldn't target Alias with the Angel of Finality, she had protection from creature with Serra's gardian. I was so sure someone would forget that clause and try to target Muddstah but in the end he was the one forgetting the clause.
