And you need to look for a Type 2 AC charging station. It doesn't look like the scooter supports DC Fast charging.

@@INFO_MOTO My EV mates say the type you went to are the most common for requiring your own cable haha. Do you know if this Scooter has the fast charge option? Have a look at plugshare for locations and details of charging types supported.

@TechRidr I’m a new CE 04 owner (and new to EV in general) and still confused by public charging / quick charging the bike. I also live in the U.S. My CE 04 has the “quick charge” option. It came only with a home (mode 1?) cable for a 110 outlet. I stopped at a charging station and saw both CCS and chademo. CCS seems to have extra pins on the bottom so I presume doesn’t fit the round only connector on the bike? Chademo looked way different. Can you explain what stations really can charge and fast charge the CE 04 and what to look for and any other tips? Thank you!

@@xahrfbkhdad You mention CCS and Chademo, these are DC rapid charging systems which are used by most cars and some bikes. Unfortunately the BMW CE04 is not capable of using DC rapid chargers. Some charge points here in Europe have three cables attached. A CCS, Chademo and also an AC cable. The AC cable can be plugged directly into the BMW CE04 (provided it is long enough to reach) and will charge at a max of 7KW provided your bike has the optional fast charger installed. Stand alone AC chargers normally do not have a cable, in this case you have to provide your own. You might notice, for example in an App, that a particular charger is rated at 22Kw or in some cases, even higher. For owners of the CE04 this doesn't really matter as has already been mentioned, the optional fast charger installed on the bike is limited to a max of 7Kw and is simply not able to utilise the full 22Kw capacity available. This just means that the bike will charge a bit slower than it otherwise might but as the battery is quite small, you should be able to charge from 20% to 80% in around 40 minutes which is enough time to grad a coffee or do some shopping. Apologies for the long winded reply but I hope it helps.

@@leegreen67 that makes sense! After owning the CE 04 a bit now, the charging situation is a little clearer to me now. I’ve found AC stations and have successfully charged at Mode (type?) 2, fast at one. One question I do have is the app I use to find stations list “Tesla Destination” stations as AC and with a J1772 connection. Would that work for the bike? Tesla stations?

@@xahrfbkhdad A destination charger should work if it has been unlocked by the installer. My home charger is locked to my car and will not connect work with another car, not even another Tesla. This feature can be removed to allow any vehicle to be charged. If that is the case with the destination charger you wish to use then I see no reason why it wouldn't work. In the US Tesla uses a bespoke connector. BMW's, both for their cars and scooters use Type 2 connectors which are physically incompatible with those found Tesla destination chargers so you may also need a Tesla to type 2 adaptor. Steep learning curve I know...Good luck

@@xahrfbkhdad As explained by others, CCS and Chademo are DC fast charging. You need a standard J1772 plug which is AC charging. Download the Plugshare app and set the filters to only show Level 2 J1772 plugs and they will then show on a map. Take a little time to learn the Plugshare app. There are also settings to filter out free vs. pay charging even though pay chargers are cheap for our bikes. You can filter out less reliable stations since people rate them 0-10. I will usually want a 5 or greater. What is important to also do is, when you are at a public station, you need to change your amp setting to 30 amps to get max charging. When you insert the plug, it will immediately prompt you to set it. When you get back to a 120 v home plug, it's best to use the 10 amp setting or 8 amp if you know it will be parked a long time. Ignore the 6 amp suggestion (sticker) on the bike. Using 6 amp is not stable. Also, don't use extension cords unless they are heavy duty. Sorry, I'm late to reply.
