Aup, i regularly camp in the Peak District, Castleton (Mamtor) is busy and noisey. I'd recomment Wyming brook not far from Hathersage, or A road called, the Dale at Stanage edge. Both are good park ups.

Hi thanks for the vlogs!! I live just outside Buxton and work in Buxton....in answer to some of your questions....Buxton has very mixed areas... some more affluent and some really not!! You parked outside the Crescent Spa Hotel which has only, in fairly recent times, been renovated into a hotel. It has previously had a varied history including hotels, part of a hospital and then offices etc for the council. History waffling over 😂😂

You should have neen really brave and camped next to that morgue and had a good look around at night. That would have been very amusing although clean pants may have been needed. That steak looked spot on, even if it wasnt well done. 😂. Keep the videos coming pal.

I live a couple of miles from st edwards,the church is currently for sale. My husband worked in the hospital til it closed. The water tower is a listed building i believe so it coukdnt be knocked down when thwy started to build the housing on the site. No one wants the morguenso its just been left,also a listed building i think (not sure). Theres also a school and church in leek that are called st edwards. We looked at buying a house on the hospital site but it was just too eery for us and we settled in a nearby village. Many people also wild/stealth camp up the roaches and a few yrs ago there was a huge wild fire from idiots lighting campfires. Theres people who do night checks now,not sure how often. Not a place id like to camp though,i cant cope with the wind at the top lol. Luds church is fantastic in summer,but very sludgy and wet and murky during winter and bad weather. Great video,from a local of the area,i enjoyed it thankyou. Happy travelling.

Gradbach and the Roaches are our 2nd home. We hiked 10.6 miles there last monday and again on Wednesday. It's awfully muddy right now, though, due to us having so much rain. Love luds church too, and those bunch of rocks you walked up are known as the castle.

What I do with cheap steak is give a good pounding cut into strips and make up a nice Korean sauce mix cut peppers into strips too some mushrooms etc fry it all up get a good char on it before adding the sauce absolutely delicious.

It's the same up here where I am also our old mental Whittingham Hospital was built in 1873, closed in 1995 and demolised in 2016, A lot of urban explorers used to venture into it, has a dark history behind it and a documentary was made for ITV if I remember correctly.

I parked/slept at that spot right behind you in November. A lot of van lifers, and it's generally laid back but very busy at times, so expect cars popping up and down that dead end. I had an ok sleep though when I was there. The peaks are way too busy since 2020, I remember it was a lot quieter before then...

The local former lunatic asylum where I live has also been converted to flats/houses. It’s located in Barming near Maidstone and it’s thought it’s where the word Barmy meaning crazy/foolish originated.

Welcome to my part of the world. Sounds like your going visiting the plane wreck above my home town Glossop in next weeks video. . Lauds church was used by a group of worshippers in the 1400s who were against the Catholic Church they were called Lollards. Many were executed for heresy. The crescent in Buxton is a spa hotel and jointly owned by the county council and by Rough council and a holding company. They have recently renovated it. You should have tried the Buxton pudding it’s a very old recipe and the hairy bikers made it when they visited the area. Be interesting to see where Steve takes you next week, but if he didn’t take you to padley gorge then you missed a lovely walk. If your up this way again go for a walk along the torrs riverside park in new mills over the millennium bridge and pop into shaws bakery for a vanilla slice they are the best thing ever. Or the cod and cake chippy in Whaley bridge for not just the best chippy but the homemade cakes are to die for.
