Hanging out with a bunch of friendly cyclists would be the best thing to combine with an eclipse. Would have loved a few more photos of that 360 sunset - that was ace! I was at work in 2000 here in the UK when we had a total and I remember it was cloudy and the usual dull UK weather to we hardly noticed it going dark! 😅 Have fun!

Superb video! I made it a road trip with a good friend and his 2 kids - 1625 miles round trip and well worth it. Great view from Mt. Carmel Illinois and thank goodness the weather cooperated. I took a chance and did a timelapse of the eclipse with my iphone - some high cirrus clouds diffused the sun enough that it did't scorch the sensor - posted it as a short on my channel. I was lucky enough to live in the path of totality back in 2017 and there was no way I was going to miss this one - an awesome event!
@TimFitzwater

Thanks! Thats is rad. I definitely see why people make the effort when they know what it is all about. I was watching a tech podcast from NY today and they had come to Ohio - they said all their friends who stayed in NY just didn't get it They were like, "not to be those guys but, a total eclipse is a billion times better than a 99% eclipse." So true - in 2017 I wouldn't have even known it happened without some filters.

Of course, nothing compares to being there in person, but you gave us the next best thing. Appreciate the great capture! And eclipse or not, I love that bike ride to the lake and back. Friends, bikes, and total eclipse is a recipe for an epic day. A picture will never relay the full awesomeness of an eclipse but it may capture a small piece. My advice to anyone who has never seen totality is do what you can to see it! I drove 10 hours to stand in a Walmart parking lot in Missouri for 3 and a half minutes of totality and I would do it again tomorrow.

Wish I could've traveled to see this one - or even the one in 2017. I was fortunate to see the total eclipse in 1991 when I was in Chiapas, Mexico. I live in Avon Lake and there was so much hype from the city and I think everyone was a little disappointed. I rode my bike around town in the morning and I did see people milling around but nothing compared to what they were expecting. But I couldn't help noticing the chem trails starting around 13:46 because it was happening over us too and a lot of that stuff looked like it was falling dangerously low. CT , as you probably know , got 93%. My day was a bit bizarre. Rode to Rocky Hill (awesome 8.9 mile route and weather!) to take my practice session driving test, which was scheduled during totality. (I'm 61, and stupidly, let my license fees lapse, so they make you do it all over if you lapse beyond 2 years, doh. The real test is April 23. ) So I saw it at about 1/3 through my driving instructor's welding helmet that he smartly brought along. It just got shady dark. I did OK, he said. We had a somewhat reasonable middle aged conversation. I did not drive perfectly, oh well. He noted that there weren't a lot of people on the road as we headed back to the office. Rocky Hill is a pretty nice town, clean, respectful, nice businesses. People waving. Nice work. I'm sort of 50/50- meh on it, but some of the photos I saw , (Rangley Maine) I will admit were pretty damn kewl. Yes, memories. One more for the slide show.

I was going to watch it from the trail somewhere and the closest to me was the Simon Kenton trail in Bellefontaine. So glad I went! Your in such awe it almost feels spiritual. It's no wonder the Mayans and other cultures revered it like they did. I wanted to ride 15 miles to The Great Serpent Mound to see it but it's too much road riding for me. Glad that you got to see it too. If anyone ever gets the chance and it's within a reasonable distance they should see it.

Yes. If we were in a place where we were worried about something being stolen it would be our bikes....so we would be keeping an eye on them. We had a line of sight here.

@@TimFitzwater I bike a lot. Watch a lot of videos on biking when I am bored. Crazy you cannot see what is going on right above you. Really made an ugly sky. I guess a lot of people can only see what they are told to see.

@@paulvanreesch2493 You are sooooo smart! I wish I was as smart as you! I am soooo stupid. Gosh what a stupid person I am! Thanks so much for educating me. Contrails quickly disappear, these create a disgusting haze over the whole sky.
