Itachi used to be my most favorite "antagonist", but after the truth revealed he became my most favorite "character".

I think the moment of Sasuke crying in front of everyone is highly underrated. This ball of pride, who always act cool and hide his emotions, just forgot about everything and just crying. No bullshit, no trying to look strong. Just crying his eyes out.

Itachi G.O.A.T

Madara told Sasuke the truth because if Madara didn’t do so, Sasuke would become the hero of the hidden of leaf who killed Itachi and might be back to leaf, which would be just as what Itachi expected. And after Sasuke knew the truth, although he knew that this village was what Itachi wanted to protect, he still decided to destroy it because Itachi’s life is more important than the village to Sasuke now, just like Sasuke was the only one who was more important than the village to Itachi.

Still one of the best twists in anime imo. Years and years of build up to this from the original Naruto series. What a legend. And barely anyone knew about what he did for his village and for his brother.

My brother died from heroin overdose when I was 15 and he was 21. I remember once walking home from the first time I ever got drunk, and it started to rain nearly sideways. He took off his jacket and gave it to me, and then walked in front of me to block the rain the whole way home. I'll always remember that. He would undergo any kind of pain or suffering to protect me just a little bit.

Just to put some context in the situation so you don’t get confused on Sasuke’s character (because many people at this point did, and they started thinking that he was just an angry boi who didn’t knew what he wanted) imagine this: You spent your whole life reaching for one goal, you sacrifice your happiness, your friends, your home, and even your body to reach this one goal which is killing who you think is the worst person in the world, an egomaniacal douche who slaughtered your whole clan and family, then after killing him you feel empty because like your master once said: “Vengeance will only grant you void, nothing more” but still you’re good with that because you believe you did the world a favor. But it turns out that he was the hero of the story, most of all he was your hero, and the place you used to call home is the one who ordered him to ruin your existence, but your whole life you thought that place was full of pure, innocent and good people. Sasuke at this point is experimenting an existential crisis because everything he ever thought in his life was wrong, and now he wants to annihilate the ones who caused all his pain

U know u r a amazing writer when u can make an entire fan base hate 1 specific character and after just 3 episodes turn that character into the entire fan bases favorite character

He's definitely the saddest character in the whole show

This is probably the biggest plot twist I have ever experienced in a show. Crazy we all went from thinking Itachi was the worst to realizing he had the worst life possible and cared deeply for the world.

itachi is 100% the biggest talent in Naruto history , so much potential , so much power and inteligence , he is the best

I think one thing that kills me is that the leaf just left Sasuke to his own devices after his family was murdered (by their order) and he was mentally tortured as an 8 year old. He lived alone (like Naruto) and raised himself and then when he finally realizes that the Leaf was never going to do anything to avenge his clan (which we understand why now) he sets out on his own. On top of that, Kakashi, the only trusted adult-figure in his life, tells him to give up on revenge - like Sasuke was just going to let go of the ONLY thing that kept him going in life. Given this info, I think Sasuke's decision makes sense tbh. Itachi felt loyalty to the leaf; Sasuke feels none. The Leaf did nothing to inspire any positive feelings in Sasuke and they are the sole reason that his entire family was killed. Itachi felt that the genocide of his people was worth it to protect the village but I don't necessarily think he (and by proxy, Danzo) was correct and I don't think Sasuke feels like he has an obligation to fulfill his brother's wishes. I'm always a little afraid to see people's reaction to Sasuke's decision because it's generally very polarized but I was glad that you seemed to understand his motivations. I don't necessarily like what he wants to accomplish but I think his new goal makes sense when you consider where he is at mentally and the suffering that the Leaf has caused both Itachi and Sasuke.

Sasuke's life is even more precious than the village That hits me harddd

Just to clarify a few things. Uchiha clan used to live in the village before the nine tail attack occured. As the aftermath of the attack, many people lost their home including Uchiha families and the village went after reconstruction. It was then Danzo took the opportunity to put surveillance on Uchiha by placing the Uchiha clan to the outermost part of the village. Even though Uchiha clan wanted to oppose to this decision as they feel it was unfair, their leader Fukagu(Itachi & Sasuke's father) didn't. Instead, he reasoned out his clan members that other clans also accept their own assigned places without complain and if Uchiha were the only one to do so, people will see them in a bad light (even tho they already did seem them negatively). Plus, Itachi like the new place cause it's near to the training ground. Due to isolation of Uchiha clan ground from the village center, Itachi was able to kill all the Uchiha members without alerting other villagers. It was described in the book that the leadership of the leaf arranged two things for Itachi to massacre his clan easily. First, they intentionally chose the day where all Uchiha will be at their respective homes/police force. Secondly, it was their plan for Sasuke to come back late from academy so that they made him stay longer at the academy under the pretence of training.

Also keep in mind Itachi's age during all of this......dude was just 13 years old when he wiped out his clan When he died he was just 21 years old Sasuke was 15 or 16 during their fight.

Even before I watched Naruto or knew anything other than 5 peoples names (Naruto, Sasuke, Itachi, Kakashi and Gaara) Itachi was somehow my favorite. Finally came around to watching Naruto and it was good to know Itachi did not disappoint. 🐐

Best Plot twist ever! Even I couldnt believe it , but as soon as "Madara" started revealing Itachi's story all made sense, pieces started to click. Haven't seen this kind of turn of events in othere anime.

People often say "But Itachi wanted to PROTECT the village! Why would Sasuke destroy it then!" But they just IGNORE what Itachi did. Yes he protected the village, but he placed SASUKE above the village. If they hurt Sasuke, he was going to START the war he prevented by killing his clan. His little brother was MORE important than the safety of all the other people in the entire village. If the leaders screw with Sasuke, he was ignite a war that will cause the deaths of THOUSANDS. That's why it was SO important to Itachi to make Sasuke HATE him. He knew if Sasuke learned the truth, that it was the leaf village's incompetence and abuse to the Uchiha that caused them to rebel and Itachi to be ordered to kill them, then he KNEW all that hatred he wanted to be focused solely on him, would turn to the leaf, the cause of Itachi and Sasuke's pain, but MOSTLY Itachi. He cares about Itachi more than the village. That was Itachi's plan, blame himself for this tragedy, make sure Sasuke knows, then pretend he left Sasuke alive so he could get stronger, so Itachi could kill him and get ultimate power. Really he wanted Sasuke to kill HIM all along, not only making him stronger with his Sharingan, but also making Sasuke the leaf's hero. When Sasuke killed Orochimaru people were like "Damn, maybe Sasuke is alright." and then after killing Itachi, another MAJOR leaf traitor, they'd WELCOME HIM BACK for sure. As a damned HERO. Remember this, Sasuke HASN'T COMMITTED ANY OTHER CRIMES YET! He left the village, but HE did not hurt anyone in leaving, he was literally unconscious for most of it, (Naruto recovered and he spared his life even) so you can blame all that stuff on Orochimaru. When with Orochimaru we actually find out he doesn't even usually kill criminals, cause he ONLY wanted to kill Sasuke. He didn't kill Team 7 when they went after him, just fought with them a little bit, so he COULD be pardoned for leaving the village. But Tobi exposed the truth, so now all that hatred was AMPLIFIED and turned on the leaf.

If you pay attention to every itachi fight you never see him go even 30% of his power bcz he doesn't wanna kill leaf ninjas. He's the strongest uchiha to ever live yet had to go through life as a disgrace and holding back every fight and with a disease that was ruining his body. He is the best hokage that never was.

Just think about the shear amount of finesse itachi had to push sasuke hard enough to make it seem like a fight to the death whilst making sure he had enough strength to seal orochimaru and factor in his illness so that he could last long enough to die in sasukes presence

It does give a different perspective to the flashback scene of Itachi and the Uchiha police. Back then Itachi’s mockery of the clan and their ignorance sounded like he had gone power mad, insulting the Uchihas for wasting such power on pointless morality. Here it’s Itachi is the moral one. He mocks the clan for their ignorance in not seeing the bigger picture: they are at peace but the clan are willing to wreck it all because of their arrogance and pride.

Yeah, totally biggest plot twist on Naruto. Yet.

If u actualy want to know , Itachi blindness come with the fact he didn't kill his girlfriend he uses the mangekyo to create an illusion in which she believe she lived with him peacefully for an entire lifespent and she died old and happy with him , that created him the most damage to his eyes.

fact here: Itachi was like incredibly high when he fought Sasuke. He took some veeeery strong drugs to lenghten his life for Sasuke to be able to kil him at the end and that drug is enough to get a jonin off of their legs for days what he took on a daily basis.

Sasuke has massive rage against the Leaf for putting Itachi through so much pain, though he's ignoring that Itachi chose to do it. As for Madara's speech, all he said about Itachi was true. There was one lie he told though. Itachi did say one truth to Sasuke. Also whats interesting is Sasuke's dad while the Uchiha leader was in the same position as Madara before, just flipped. Madara was forced to join the Senju because his people wanted it, so he did. Madara warned his people of their future but was rejected. Later Sasuke's dad had to go through with the revolt as his people wanted it lol. In the end Madara was right.

At this point in the story, nothing's been said about the first great ninja war. In the early 200s of Shippuden, you'll see something from that war, but it's nothing combat related, and just a brief flashback. I don't think there's a problem with me saying that the first war started during a time when the Second Hokage was in power. Anyway, the second war was where the Legendary Sannin distinguished themselves. The third war was where Kakashi got his Sharingan.

Why Sasuke wants to destroy the village, you ask...? Because the village ordered his brother to genocide his own kind after decades of surveillance, discrimination and ghettoization. Just because Itachi is a fool blindly devoted to an evil village which hates his people, doesn't mean Sasuke is the same. If Itachi was a Jew in Hitler's Germany he would've slaughetered the other jews who tried to rebel.
