The song "Ikanaide" (Please, don't go) was composed in 1989 by Japanese singer-songwriter Koji Tamaki, with lyrics written by Goro Matsui. It tells the true story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, who was born in China in 1920 to Japanese parents and became a celebrated singer and actress under the Chinese name Li Xianglan. When after WWII her Japanese origin became known, she was accused of espionage and was deported to Japan, never to return to China again. The song speaks of the anguish, heartbreak, and final acceptance of this parting as the ones who loved her have no choice but to let her go.
