Ikanaide is the original song. Autumn Strong is only using the music and create lyrics in Chinese. The true story, briefly, is about a famous Chinese singer by the name of Li Heung Lan. Her father was actually Japanese with Chinese mother. After the war broke out between China and Japan, her true identity was revealed and she was arrested as a spy and was deported to Japan. This song is supposed to be from her best friend who was very sad to see her go. There was a happy ending as these two ladies met again many years later after the war ended.❤ Even the Japanese composer remarked that he couldn't believe this song could be sung so beautifully and exactly to the emotion he envisaged as he wrote the song. One of my favourite songs by Dimash ❤❤❤

Thank you. This is a masterclass vocal by Dimash. I really appreciate your sharing your knowledge and expertise about what Dimash is doing vocally. This is the 1st time Dimash sang in Japanese. This is the Japanese version of 'Autumn Strong', which is in Chinese. The songs have the same melody but different lyrics. They are telling the same story but from the perspective of each country. This is a true story, of a Chinese singer who live in Japan and everyone loved her and then they found out that she was Chinese and she then must leave and go back to China. Dimash sings Autumn strong often in concerts and he 1st sang it on the Chinese show 'I Am Singer'. Here is that performance (others are incredible also though). Nice reaction and analysis. Thank you. FYI -This is the original version. The Chinese version which Dimash sang on I Am A Singer is the variation. As you notice from the lyrics, the Japanese original is more melancholic. Mr Tamaki wrote the song as a homage to a Japanese woman who had been born in China before WW II. She became a hugely popular performer in China and was loved by millions. After WW II, it was reported that she was Japanese. The Chinese government expelled her from China, and she was never permitted to return to the land of her birth. The Chinese version is more of a love ballad. Also, I'm fluent in Japanese, and his nuance in his phrasing is perfectly Japanese. My friends in Japan were stunned when I introduced them to Dimash and this performance.

It's great to see you back giving a reaction to Dimash singing in Japanese. Of course it's yet another fantastic performance by the best all-around singer / performer ever. Another wonderful young singer you should definitely react to is 20 year old Lucy Thomas from the UK. Many reactors have said that she has the most beautiful voice on the planet. She has released 5 studio albums and has 70 + videos on utube. At the beginning of next year she is to star in a brand new musical written especially for her on London's West End stage called "Rosie." This was another very enjoyable reaction and vocal analysis. "Ikanaide" is one if not the favorite Dimash performance, and it invokes a very visceral response in me, just as "Ave Maria" does. I believe this actually was a live performance, in that Dimash sang "Ikanaide" live for the Tokyo Jazz Festival Live stream in January 2021 as it was being recorded. Someone else pointed out that this was performed from Dimash’s studio in Beijing, where he was going through a month of quarantine before taking part in the “Shine Super Brothers” TV show. According to several native Japanese speakers, Dimash's pronunciation of the lyrics is nearly flawless. One native speaker, who gave a detailed analysis, stated that he is "expressing Japanese more (better) than Japanese" and that he does not only perfectly pronounce Japanese but "expresses Japanese…with Japanese emotion." Goro Matsui, who wrote the lyrics to "Ikanaide," posted on his Twitter account that he had never heard a foreigner sing in Japanese in such a beautiful way. Tamaki Kōji composed the music and performed the song in 1989. "Ikanaide" became the title song for the Chinese-Japanese TV series "Farewell, Li Xianglan," filmed that year. It is the story of Yoshiko Yamaguchi, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress and singer during World War II who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends, she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched. She resettled in Japan, where she would continue to enjoy a successful acting career. In the 1950s, she moved her acting career to Hollywood and Broadway under the name Shirley Yamaguchi but returned to Japan in 1959, retiring from acting. She would go on to become a TV presenter and eventually a politician. She did not return to China for nearly 20 years. In 1990, "Ikanaide" was translated into Cantonese and sung by Jacky Cheung using the same melody. Later, the song was rewritten and translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin under the title "Late Autumn." In 2004 the Taiwanese singer Terry Lin adapted the song into a new version titled "In Deep Autumn," with lyrics written by Daryl Yao. Dimash chose the 2004 Taiwanese version arranged by Terry Lin with Mandarin lyrics for his performance at the 2017 "I Am A Singer" competition but gave it his own interpretation and titled it "Autumn Strong." This song went on to earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during the Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong.

Japanese "DE" means please or pleading so the video's Eng. subtitles are over all more accurate translations than you found. IKANAIDE is Autumn Strong 's( Chinese virsion) original song. This song is based on Yoshiko Yamaguchi's life in China during WW2 and after that time. She was a beautiful famous actress in China. She was Japanese but was born in China. She hid her true identity during WW2 but after the war , she was deported to Japan and wanted to go back to China for a long time. In 1989, Koji Tamaki sang IKANAIDE in front of Yoshiko in Japan and she cried listening to it. In Autumn Strong( The Singer 2017)with Eng. subtitle version, the video showed a crying old lady at the end that was Yoshiko's image from Japan in 1989.
