I have a female greyhound 13 years old she’s gray. I can’t imagine her being any more clingy or loving. I guess it just depends on the IG

I’m so glad you have mentioned that male italian greyhounds almost always pee on their chests. Because I have one and I wasn’t sure, if it is normal or if my italian greyhound is just „special”. So thank you for sharing this information.

I lived with a male IG for years. He was fun to play with and was SUPER sweet and cuddly. He was also just funny all the time. Loved him. Only sweeter dog I’ve known is the the current male Pomeranian I have. I think he is unusual though.

I’ve had two female iggies who lived till they were 15. Both of them got along with me so well, and I am female. They always sought me for comfort 😊 I’ve never had males though.

Yesterday I had to put my dog ​​(Italian Greyhound) down of 14 years, 3 months old and I am grieving, it is being very difficult time for me. I'm not ready to have another dog yet and I don't know if I want one but if I do I'm considering getting one again when the time is right. It is a wonderful breed.

I’ve had male and females and I prefer males. It had been 23 years since my last Iggy and my husband wanted to “surprise” me with one for my 40th birthday (pets should never be a surprise so we discussed it first but it was his gift idea) I knew without a doubt I wanted a male. My crazy boy doesn’t pee on his chest but he always pees on his front legs and sometimes if he’s looking down he pees on his face too 😂 and doesn’t seem to care either!

I agree with you on the differences. I had a female and my aunt had her bio brothers and the boys were definitely more cuddly but my Gracie was soooo sweet as well.

As a female I prefer female dogs in general however I got a boy dog right now and he is just as lovely. My first dog was a female and I loved her so so much! She was my little princess. I always think about her but I will continue what I have learned from her towards my new boy dog. He’s my little prince lol.

My female iggy clings to me 24/7 and I don't have to worry about her peeing on her chest or all over the place. She goes only in one spot, whether that's outside or on a pee pad inside.

We had both male & female Ita Grey, at the same time. Some of your observations match ours & others not. The male was the most affectionate absolutely! The female liked to do things on her own, but she slowly became more cuddly in older age. Oddly its our female who humps! Shes terrible for doing it to people, not other dogs. The male never did this in public, but he did hump a certain cushion & run away embarrassed when you caught him - LOL. He didn't pee his chest though, that's an odd one!. But he was a bad aim & would often get his foot. Id add that both ours were excellent at learning tricks, high five, roll over, bang bang, dance, stand, shake a paw. They seemed to learn very quickly, the female watched the male & did several of them with no training! She doesn't even need a treat, she loves doing tricks for fun. She is highly intelligent, she can watch TV & even play games on iPad. Both were really well behaved, generally, but the male did get defensive of being made to move from a comfy spot, which was his only bad habit. It sounds crazy, but I truly believe our male, Kubo (who sadly is no longer with us) understood everything we were saying. Its the closest bond I've ever had with an animal, we did everything together & we sensed everything about each other. I had whippets also in the past & they are very similar in that they love being your best friend.

Hi! I’m from Mexico and I just came across your channel a couple of weeks ago. I loved all your videos. Everything is absolutely try. My iggy is 2 and a half years old. I own a 4 year old whippet as well. Iggies are not common in Mexico and Latte (my iggy) gets a lot of attention on the street. Many people have reached out to me to ask where they can get an Italian greyhound and my first reaction is to tell them to really think about it because they require a lot of attention and it’s not like other breeds at all. Your video really reflects that. If you are ever in Mexico we would love to meet you and Nello for a play date!

I have had both and much prefer the males. The female was definitely more independent and dominant.

I had two males, one very clingy and affectionate the other one not so much. Both super sweet. One peed like a girl the other lifted his leg. Both were Indoor potty trained on wee wee pads, never an issue with peeing on chest. One liked to wear clothes the other didn't.

Male or female, they are both wonderful. Iggy's are just so beautiful.

I guess one key point to consider is the size. Male tends to be significantly bigger within the small dog category. I have a 6 month "beast" of 40 cm and 5kg. I am always surprise to see how some females can be much smaller and thinner.

I have two female Iggies and one male. My Iggy Boi, Leo, is a thousand times more clingy and cuddly He is velcro’d to me.

We have had 3 Italian greyhounds over the years, all male. Only one pee’d on his chest and still does at 17 months old. I’ll only have male dogs, more affectionate, I find easier going. All 3 have been velcro to us.

I have a male greyhound (not iggy) & have often thought of getting an iggy. My greyhound is fine with my parents’ papillons, but he does growl a little if dogs get over excited “in his face”. He also destroys his toys.

My iggy is male and 1 year old now. I must be extra lucky because I haven’t experienced him peeing on his chest. Since he a was a puppy, I’ve trained him to use a pad indoors because I live in a hi rise plus a cold climate during the winter. He’s quite good about using the pad… 95% of the time he uses it and I love him for it. He pees standing or semi squat. Sometimes he will get pee on the front leg, and if that’s the case I can just use a wet wipe on him. But I also noticed he will try to clean himself too. He’s such a clean pup! Of course I also take him out as much as I can. He prefers to go outside and that’s when he lifts his leg, usually on a tree. The weird thing is that he very rarely poops outside. He prefers to go on his puppy pad which is in a more private place inside the house. Does anyone else have an iggy like this?

I looked after a boy Italian greyhound he was lovely ❤❤❤very cuddly and sociable. Loved looking after him so lovable. For small breed i found intelligent i tell him once and he would get it. I would love to get a boy Iggy.

My boy just passed. I'm having a great deal sadness, after 11 years he's been my constant companion. Yes he was notably attached I used to say, lol. He had extream seperation anxiety. He was as affectionate as he could be having 4 yrs of a bad life before I got him. He was pee pad trained. His biggest problem is he wasn't just a jumper he never stopped. It was difficult around other dogs. Poor little guy, I'm positive it was a dominance thing. Well, that's it. I hope to adopt another male. 👍

Have had (through no plans of our own) female Iggy's. They can be frustrating as all hells to keep (I had a former Puppy mill dog as a foster the that became an adoption), but also rewarding as all those same hells to have in your life! I miss my bedbugs! I don't miss their drama though. And they WERE capable of generating that. All told, in my experience, I WOULD have Iggy's again!

im i had an italian greyhound who was male ,he was copletly bonded to me so im not sure where you got the in fo they prefer an owner of the opposite sex ??? i had my boy for 17 years he was such a joy ,after he passed i thought i would never get another dog but eight years later i have another fellow this time i got a silken wind hound he had some big shoes to fill but again i was blessed he to is such a joy ,in general sight hounds are simple the best lol

The males being more "cuddly" than females thing is true of all dogs--not just Italian greyhounds. I have had many different kinds of dogs in my life and this has been true probably 80% of the time and I have heard the same thing from other dog owners. But, yes, this is a generality only. There are always exceptions. Nothing is 100% when it comes to dog personalities.

I've only had female Italian Greyhounds, a pair at a time since 1990, and all six have been the sweetest, cuddliest girls ever. I had a male Dachshund before that and will never get a male dog again. They are too messy and embarrassing.

I have no idea where this "males are more clingly or cuddly" thing comes from. I think it's just a thing that's been repeated. I choose not to have males b/c of the marking issue (if you own an IG, you want a late spay or neuter for bone density purposes - the hormones are good for their bones, and IGs are so prone to breaks - so males will go through puberty and mark everywhere). If my female IG got any more clingy or cuddly, I'd have to sew her on as a fifth appendage lol. I go to pee and she sits outside the door, whining forlornly, until I come out. She has to be ON TOP OF ME at all times. Velcro dog isn't even the term; she's a gorilla glue dog lol.

I'm a trans-man! I adopted a female lurcher at the beggining of my transition and we got along just fine, we were both very anxious and that brought us closer together. Then after a year I decided that she needed a company for running and I got a whippet mix, he's boy. And we got along fine too! I'm not really sure how gender would play a role in your relationship with your dog, but I now have 2 grown sighthounds of opposite genders and we're 3 bestest of friends, we really got each others back and we always run and play together. But! I can say that my boy is more cuddly, that is the only thing I think I can relate to in your story. Anyway, thank you for making content for us. Nello is adorable
