I do not know how Tucker has been labeled by some "far" or "alt" right. Yes, not being able to devalue their currencies might be a factor, but the Italian Lira was worthless before 2002 anyway The southern countries, especially the likes of Italy, Greece and Spain, borrowed billions of Euro and thought they could fix their economies and social systems that way. The problem is, they didn't get their respective economies going and are in huge amounts of debt now thanks to corruption and excessive spending. Oh, and Italy's case...never underestimate the power and influence of the Mafia, which thrives on corruption, drugs and crime...

The southern countries were given millions of euros to "modernize" their agriculture and fishing industries yet those loans/subsidies weren't audited...the generality of farmers and fisherman took the money but didn't invest it properly. I know dozens of cases of farmers that put up stakes to build greenhouses, but kept it at that. Once the stakes were up, the government would give the full amount promised...same with fishermen, their old boats were destroyed, yet the money was not used to modernize their fleets, it was spent in building mansions and buying high end European cars. Subsidized diesel for tractors was used for almost a decade in diesel vehicles, until they picked up the scam and added and additive to stop the situation. Those southern European countries needed to modernize their industry and in their majority they didn't . The basic agriculture and fishing industry was what the generality of the population knew how to do. Those countries needed more investment in education, and then industry. Now they have a reasonably educated younger population, that ends up emigrating to northern Europe or abroad, because only a select few are able to find decently paying jobs. I was one of them. In theory the idea was good, in practice, terrible at least for the southern European countries. Ireland was probably the country that benefitted the most out of the EU idea, and still, plenty emigrated to North America into the early 2010's...

Dude… IN the book she specifically said that her area of expertise is right-wing authoritarianism. She did not deny, whatsoever, that there aren’t/have never been communist or socialist dictators. She literally added that qualifier in the beginning of the book. More people should stick to their areas of expertise, imo.
