When people say Chiellini and Bonucci are 36 and 34, I wonder if all you see is age. These guys are older defenders yes; but they literally have played so many games together; literally at club and country, week in week out. That type of experience and chemistry cannot be taught, honestly.

Chiellini and Bonucci were monsters today. England should file a missing persons report for Harry Kane, because Chiellini and Bonucci made him disappear. He didn't get anywhere near the goal.

Chiesa was phenomenal. Those chances he created and his presence on the pitch was hands down the biggest attacking threat of the tournament. Joy to watch him take people on. If he hadn't went off I reckon it wouldn't have went to penalties. Italy have a real talent with him.

Don't know what he's been watching. Italy and Spain are clearly miles ahead of England. The differences are the same as Premiership vs Championship, particularly in regards to their speed and intensity when passing the ball. I honestly thought Italy were just going to come out and score three goals within the first fifteen minutes, and then things would calm down a bit. Yet England scored straight away, and you could see by the Italians body language how much it shocked them, they were playing very nervously after that, and you could see them calm down drastically after they got the equalizer. The trouble with England is the media massively overhypes our players, the cold fact is, is that most of them are not very good at all, and are carried by other players in their clubs, and considering the lack of talent, they all done extremely well, far, far better than I ever thought they would, to get to the final and not get embarrassed by Italy was so far beyond what anyone should of expected them to achieve.

As an Italian, performance of players like Chiesa, Spinazzola and Italy's approach on the field brought me great joy. But you’re right, the Italian team you could tell just loved to be there, smiling and laughing even during the shootouts with us and Spain. England on the other hand couldn’t handle the pressure because the fear of disappointment is too much. Southgate needs to be bolder and braver with his decisions. Watching from a neutral's perspective Italy deserved to win. They were the better team the entire tournament. As most people have commented this was England's best chance as they were 1. Easy side of the draw 2. All but one game played at home 3. Carried by the uefa referees to reach where they did. If any one of you watched the Arg vs Bra Copa America final, and how "rough" matches can be players that are tough, the English players like Kane and Sterling are jokers. A slight touch and they fall or dive with no touch, and then shamelessly looking at the ref to give a foul. They did that throughout the tournament and got away with it. There is not 1 "world class" player in the English side. As for Qatar, the best they could achieve would be the quarterfinals. Stop hyping up your players, and biased reporting by English media which brainwashes your players into arrogance. The refereeing was on point in the final, and the deserving team won. Lessons to be learned and to self reflect.

Chiellini must be very proud of his performance!
@tomwilmot17652 жыл бұрын
I think that's very unfair on the English players, to be honest. To say that our players were diving given how other national teams have acted over the years is extremely hypocritical. The Spanish team that won back to back euros and a world cup were no strangers to going down easily, nor were the Italians in this tournament mind you. Having watched Kane most weeks over the past few years I would say that he IS world-class, though that's just my opinion. I agree with the sentiment that this was our best chance and I don't believe that we'll go far in Qatar if we don't change our style of play. But a biased media? Come on. Are you telling me the Italian media weren't rooting for their national team? What about previous broadcasting teams in nations whose teams have reached major finals? Were they not openly supporting their team? People are allowed to be excited about their team doing well, it's part of what makes football so passionate.
@edoardo37172 жыл бұрын
@@tomwilmot1765 Yes, most biased media on earth. There's a difference between rooting for your nation and disrespecting other teams. English media has done this. Italy redeemed themselves after missing out on the last World Cup and England looked better than ever reaching the finals of Euro for the first time. Gareth Southgate has nothing to be ashamed of, he's turned England into a true powerhouse since taking over. England went further than expected in the previous World Cup & now they reached the final where they came very close. Despite this heartbreaking setback, England's future still looks bright under Southgate. Love, Respect & a big round of applause to both 🇬🇧England🇬🇧 & 🇮🇹Italy🇮🇹 from 🇺🇸The USA🇺🇸
In my lifetime I have never seen any team so focussed on mentally breaking the opponent like the italians. It seems like Italians can make the opposition play their game in which italians are the script writers, and repeat this again and again. I have almost never seen England play well as a unit since late 90s on a consistent basis. The better team won today Secondly, a lot of italian national players play in Serie A in a similar tactical defensive style. A lot of them in the same team. So Italians dont have to modify their style at the nationals level. They may not have star players but every team member gives a 100%. Last , italians have swag. It matters 🙂 Third, italy produces the best tacticians and managers. Period.

Ferdinand: What a Wally. Arrogant, like the rest of them. Disrespectful to the other teams to say "It's coming home" when you've never won the Trophy in the first place. Win it a few times, like Germany or Spain, then you can boast. Even they have humility.

@@leebailey287 I know the lyrics, but I don't think the fans that sing "It's coming home" during a semifinal or final of such a tournament intend to be ironic. The literal meaning makes much more sense in that context, and would also explain why they all shut up once they lost

A world class manager knows how and when to make substitutes. Southgate and Solksjaer are very inexperienced managers and it shows in their lack of substitute strategy. He took Declan Rice who was the best player on the field to bring in Saka?? Mason Mount was invisible all game and he keeps him on when you got Grealish on the bench. Rashford and Sancho brought on 2 minutes before 120 min, didnt even touched the ball and you expect them to take a penalty on the biggest stage of their career. I'm furious against Southgate he really demonstrated that he has no clue how to manage a match.

Italy played great for the entire tournament. Their strength was playing as a tight knit unit and overcoming the few moments of pressure by keeping cool and just playing football, I’m Italian and have been watching the nazionale for a long time I had never seen the team play this well. Hats off to Mancini. England have done a fantastic job as well I think a little bit of fear and pressure got to the players after the first 30 minutes and they didn’t seem to be able to control the game in the later stages. Good bunch of young players they will do well at the World Cup.

Rio hasn't a clue. England were "comfortable and composed" in the first half. They had 35% possession in th first half. All this talk about being brave and not afraid to pass the ball.... Maguire was lamping balls straight out of play sh*tting himself. Southgate was too negative all tournament anyway. Retreated into his shell any sign of danger.

From about 10.30 on they start to talk about the potential red card and chiellini and bonucci and the dark arts etc. I swear to god I heard linekar suggest that chiellini and bonucci being 34 and 36 years old and so good is "almost too unbelievable" and imply that there might be something more sinister at play. Desperate from lineker 😂😂

A joy to watch and I love how everyone tries to make excuses. We had to go through Belgium and Spain, two world class talents. FORZA AZZURRI!!!!

Italy's goalkeeper is so calm and humble. London's was so cocky during the game, was rude to an Italian player who touched him after he saved a goal and was so baby-like after missing a save. What a difference.

Honestly lost for words. I am so so so disappointed that we lost. When Shaw scored, that was the only time in the whole tournament when I was completely frozen because I just knew it my heart we were going to sit on that goal and defend because the Italians were going to come at us like crazy (which they did). In the end, we didn’t deserve to win which is so painful yet true to say. We set up to defend because we are too afraid to lose and try anything creative. Game Aside, the hooliganism ruined everything. It’s such a shame that a minority can paint a majority in such negative light.
