Y’all it’s November 30th and I just tried it! It worked. I put the alcohol on a swab and I’d clean the black part, then press my towel on it and blow hot air for several seconds and then swab it again and then blow hot air again, do it at least 3 times! Woohoo!

After watching your video and following your tips, it actually works 😃 I can hear from my left earphones and I used warm water with a flash light to help see the wax in the mesh. I have blue skull candy earphones so it was completely see through. Thanks man!!! 💯 😃👍

Have tried cleaning several pairs to address this issue, but I’ve had mixed success. I think this is because they earwax can get lodged underneath the speak mesh, making it difficult to remove. For me this always impacts the left bud (likely due to listening on this side more often in bed or due to more earwax in my left ear). I tried this method (albeit without a hot towel), which didn’t restore volume to earbud and clear the stubbornly impacted earwax under the mesh (I was still seeing debris obstructing the speaker through the mesh). I had to use a very small amount of alcohol, poured directly into the mesh at an angle (not completely immersed which can damage the speaker permanently), then immediately pointing the speaker facing down to the ground, waiting 5 seconds, finally gently blowing compressed air into the speaker to dry out the alcohol. This caused a small amount of earwax to be blown out of the small speaker on the flat face of the earbud, and sound was restored in full to the left bud. A safer way to address impacted earwax would be to use a needle to remove the speaker mesh, enabling the mesh and speaker to be more thoroughly cleaned. As mentioned in the video and from my personal experience earbuds (wouldn’t do this for AirPods) will survive a wash/dry cycle so that could be another last resort cleaning method if nothing else works to address impacted wax and you don’t want to fork over dollars to Apple for another pair. I think that Apple designed its earbuds to always appear to fail after several months of heavy use due to how its design makes it easy for wax to accumulate between the mesh and the speaker and become challenging to clean through superficial methods. Many people try their best at cleaning them out but just give up and buy another pair. It sometimes can be done with a little effort and skill.

I washed my earbuds in the washing machine and it got all the wax out of them, but it also shorted my lightning USB adapter and also, theres not much sound coming out of the right ear bud. Theres a bigger problem with my earbuds
