@@PorkHunt0 I spent years frequenting the official RenaultSport forum. The engine was always unremarkable and the poor reliability was universally accepted. That’s why nobody liked owning them out of warranty. As soon as the 3 year finance deal was over RS fans would buy a new one!

@@LCOF the engines are actually phenomenal and pretty bullet proof. the cars are brilliantly set up from factory, only really weak point is the gearbox syncros wear out quickly

I just bought a German moded Colt 5door with Brabus swap (177 HP standard), looking for a second one, a Colt Ralliart Version R is what I want now. With some mods they make easily over 200 hp, would not be in 4th position at the finish then. Really love these little cars...

Also bought a CZC Turbo for nice weather, but same story still in the Netherlands, not able to collect it... Maybe I'll post some videos and start my own little channel...

TJ VR-X Magna is beast too but made in australia with limited exports known as ‘diamante’ or older gen ‘sigma’. My 2001 3.5L magna still drives like new cant get enough of it. Too bad the styling of mitsubishis 2003 - 2008 were horrible and FRENCH

the 500 Abarth that show in this video is NOT the esseesse version, is an ERROR! It's the old stock version with only 135hp, the real esseesse version have 160hp!!!

Go the 200 if you can. It's the best of the lot and I've driven them all. Currenty own a 200 now.

Might be slower on the bumps

Renault is really good at making hot hatches. The fastest FF in touge battle was once Renault Megane RS where it was tested against Civic Type R with 50 more hp.

it didnt have much competition in this video tho. the civic was only the worse euro type r. the fd2 type r wouldve been a different story id say. even the older ep3 type r would have been a harder nut to crack then the euro civic.

@@99Lezard99 nah, the civic needs to be a hatchback and from the same generation as the competitors. This euro type R is the correct competitor to the clio.

The Renault might also have a slight advantage in term of aerodynamic. It has deflectors on its rear undercarriage that create a better venturi effect.

Yes the ep3 would have comfortably won. They done away with the double wishbone suspension on the fn2.

+FrightfulAccountant What are you talking about, the EP3 is a hatchback. I think you're replying to the wrong person. Also, the FN2's handing is not as great due to the loss of the rear double wishbone suspension like @MElekiaz has said and it's also much heavier. I would take a 2006-2011 US Civic SI compared to the FN2 which is pretty sad because the type r should always be better than the SI.

Would still be outclassed. I am a huge Abarth fan, but the cars are mostly for show and fun on the street, not for performance. ;-)

@@TheBb6prelude The clio's F4R, though not as bulletproof as the Type R engine, is still really reliable and need to be serviced every 20K km/2 years. I own a Clio RS182 with that same engine and it's solid.

skycrap if it's a Clio 3 RS 200 like in this video (i think it's a rs 200) they have either just over or just under 200bhp stock and weight pretty much the same as the Abarth :) I've got a Clio 3 RS 200 with a stage one tune and its making 230 bhp, absolutely brilliant cars but also have had ago in my friends Essess and they are definitely a quick little car :)

Auto già finita nel dimenticatoio, la Clio invecchia dopo 2 mesi che l'hai comprata. Cmq prova fasulla, qui erano tutte di potenza inferiore alla Clio, la povera 500 addirittura era una 135cv, erroneamente fatta passare per una ss. Della serie "ti piace vincere facile".

The worst thing is in italy they sell a lot of 500 abarth, who buy them don't know anything about cars and decide to buy because they make good sound ( that i hate because is only produce by exhaust pipe, not engine) this car is made on the chassy of fiat panda that is a city car and cost 10k €. They sell the abarth at 30k€ and more also the fiat don't produce new model of car the 500 is Born in 2007 and they sell today with only different headlight

HAHA learn math Renault is 0,1-0,2tenth faster Per lap sooo NO.. Also the mini cooper has loads of slip stream towards the race whilst clio hasnt in lap 2.. if You watch other tests its 0,5-0,6sec quicker.. the cooper is the real deal NO doubt but clio is better in every way..

I know its an old comment, but that Colt was just underpowered compared to the other opononents. However, fun fact is that with only a remap Colt with 1.5T can make 200HP (stock=150HP) and with that it could smoked the competition

@@p1nky02 I've driven a ralliart colt and owned a clio sport. The clio still has the colt in the cornerrs. The colt feels sharp and darty to a point but then goes into a safe understeer characteristic when pushed too hard whilst the Clio really likes being pushed at its limits and will move around shifting it's weight around to pivot around a corner. also even with 200hp remap, there still going to be much narrower power band and it's also only a 5 speed too. Possibly would of been there with the clio and tyre R maybe even pipped them for the win but definitely not smoked on track.

they probably raced the Civic alongside these cars because it has a naturally aspirated engine, and it is or was known at the time that naturally aspirated engines were slower than turbos of the same category. Just imagine that the Civic barely manages to keep up with the Clio
