I've always wondered if you get tickets for these coin pushers like in the US, and if not, what do you get for playing? Just the experience?

You get medals. Let me break it down for you. Whatever goes over the edge in these games (Medals are Tokens/Coins) will be returned to the player and those can be re-inserted into the machine to fuel more play! Unlike the shitty american games, what goes over isn't yours. So when you win jackpots on these games, it sends alot of medals in and you win alot as alot go over the edge! That's why jackpots are so cool here. You win basically what's considered arcade credits in the US.
