He got me in the first half😭. I will support you in anything. If you sell plants I’ll buy some, if you sell moss poles I’ll buy them, if you make more plant experiments I’ll watch them. Love this channel so much. You got me into my plant journey with the lemon trees from seed video. Now I have 2 gorgeous large lemon trees and a full on greenhouse of houseplants. Can’t wait for what this channel becomes💚💚

Product idea: You've grown a bunch of large aroids like that immense Jade pothos. Many of us want a really well designed modular planking system that we can extend to say 8 ft. Giving your experience, could you design such a thing? I'm sure there would be buyers. Experiment idea: I'd love to see a comparison of wicking systems with semihydro versus submerged systems. I'm specifically thinking of Pon and Leca. Do plants prefer a system that has wicks or do they prefer something where the inner pot is submerged inside an outer pot? Sounds like a fun experiment. Also, if you're going to sell, I'm sure many of us would buy from you!

@@TechplantChannel such a product is long overdue in the market. There are some great folks like Treleaf who are producing some interesting products but modular planking systems are in their infancy right now. It would be so fun to order the items and then build it with you doing a video. LOVE all that you do. I don’t have a printer, but always wish I knew someone who did, so I could order special items. Also I don’t think having multiple subjects (like branching out into terrariums and fish tanks) would hurt the channel- if anything it’d pull in people from other similar hobbies. My fav content is the experimentation because it debunks myths and helps me manage my plants better, and throwing terrariums and tanks in adds more subjects to make experiments about. You are my only reliable source for plant guidance on an internet full of SEO copy/pasting, AI, and misinformation. Your 3 aloe videos started out as my go-to guide for my own plants and to send others, and in current year and now the only guide I have to send people! I love your review on plant gifts, not for gift ideas, but for your reviews, like that all growlights are approximately the same as long as you have the right temperature and brightness! I don't think you'll ever out beat the content farms telling people to like plant roses inside rotting potatoes, nor out shine the fucking flood of low quality self-taught house gardeners who have imo terrible advice and poor understanding of soil media, but it's the reason I make sure I watch all of your videos and search your channel for advice whenever anyone I know has a plant question. Please do the holiday schlumbergeras. Even aside from STOP TREATING THEM LIKE TROPICAL CACTUSES! THEY'RE EPIPHYTES! angle, there is a lot of misinformation floating around about them just because their immortality and holiday marketing makes them so accessible; but while it's very hard to kill them, it's also very hard to make them thrive! People inherit these massive christmas-tree shaped meter tall cactuses that have been in the family for 4 generations and do not know how to maintain them. people don't know how to make them that tall! there are no good guides for them online other than a few odd reddit posts that only talk about soil and barely mention fertilizer.

What i struggle with a lot is knowing how much fertilizer is too much or not enough, especially with liquid fertilizer like dynagro foliage pro. So one experiment you could do is see the result way underfertilizing vs the recommended vs way overfertilizing over a couple months. You would have to pick an inert media like cococoir plus perlite to make sure the plants are not getting any nutrients besides what you give them.

I'd love to buy more established plants as opposed to all shops selling only cuttings as I'm not very good at keeping them alive and maybe you could organize your shop way better than most do in terms of plants by separating them into categories such as: climbing plants, small/large terrarium plants, and other niche categories. it could be really helpful if any of this makes any sense

I’d love more clear options that nest for easy storage and come in different dimensions beyond traditional height/width options readily available. That falls outside what you’re asking for when it comes to ideas but that’s what I’ll be looking for this year. I’d also like very large clear options for potting plants that are water tight and light.

@@TechplantChannelJosh’s Frogs sells this black insulation foam that you can fill in the cracks with. The frogs will get into crevices and get stuck. They are climbers so they will be all over the background. You can use that foam to custom build little “holes” to plant the wall with bromeliads and other air plants etc. me personally I like to be able to remove the background or maybe you could use plexi glass or wood to create the background on. In the past I’ve made the background onto the tank and I didn’t like that I couldn’t take it out to clean or change up of if I wanted to. Also, you can use coconut husk or fibers and lightly dust the foam while it’s still wet to give a more realistic look.

I only found your channel around the end of 2022, so I’m SO GLAD you’re not quitting too because it’s one of my favorites!! 1. If you sell your printed moss poles, I would absolutely buy some. They’re the coolest ones I’ve seen anywhere and I don’t have a printer myself. 2. I’m super interested in terrariums and aquariums, even though I don’t have any myself. I watch a couple of channels that do videos like “100 days from this to this” where they go from an empty jar to a desert ecosystem or a rainforest ecosystem, etc. They’re very fun to watch and it’s another long-term experiment type of video that those other channels seem to enjoy making. 3. Dude, get your money and include any sponsors you like!! I will not be judging because I have to make money myself too! 4. I LOVE the long-term experiments but I also understand they take more time and effort than other types of content. I’ll be here for whatever you do. 5. One experiment that I would like to see personally is testing the optimal/minimum amount of time it takes to root a plant cutting in water and then transfer it to semi hydro (Leca, Pon, etc) I'm really impatient so I transfer my plants to Pon too quickly and some of them can handle it and others don't so it would be neat to get some data for that. Similarly, transferring a plant from soil to water to semi-hydro would also be a good experiment idea. I find that most of the soil roots die off when I do this so I wonder if it make sense to cut them off from the beginning and grow new roots or try to transfer the old roots, and finding a sweet spot in terms of timing for the best results. I'm personally really interested in semi-hydro I think its the biggest innovation in plant growing so anything relating to that is something I'd love to see. I hope 2024 is a good year!

I have found your channel informative and entertaining since I found it last year. I am excited to see it progress into aquascaping. I do have access to a 3D printer but would also be interested in ordering stuff. Having houseplants and fish tanks and terrariums at home makes me happy, so yeah.. do it. Thank you!

Nice! I love that you are doubling down because I absolutely love your videos and am always looking for new ones to drop. I’ve only been watching your channel for about a year now but I always come back and watch your older videos because I can’t wait for more. ok here’s an idea possibly for an experiment or a question, or just maybe you can make up an experiment out of it. 20 years ago I got the idea of rooting out spider plants in food coloring water, I thought it would be cool to see different colored leaves, concept came from broccoli experiment in food coloring as a kid, anyways they didn’t take up the color of the water into their leaves, so it’s like the roots filtered it out or something. Anyways maybe you can make something up out of that. Glad you’re not stopping posting, me and my family love watching your channel.

I have an experiment idea: I believe plants can recover from minor root rot themselves. But everything online says I have to deal with it asap or my whole plant will die. I feel like my plants that have very minor rot do better when I just let them be and fix whatever I did to cause it in the first place. It actually does more damage to completely uproot, mess with the roots, repot, etc, but I could definitely be wrong
@TechplantChannel
@TechplantChannel 6 ай бұрын
i agree with what you are saying, ive had plants that are mid rot on some roots and i change my care and they recover as well as when ive repotted ive found old rotted roots that have dried up and new roots comming out right above where it stopped

Your experiments are really invaluable, i cant wait to see your backlog. Going from one to two kids is a major adjustment, i implore you to learn from my experience and prioritize things that are self sufficient and don't suck your time. Having two toddlers is so incredibly exhausting and time consuming as well as rewarding. Prioritizing them, yourselves and your relationship is the way to go. Time becomes the most valuable thing in the world, hands down. I would love aquarium content, im wanting to start using one for my kindergartener to have a fish to take care if, but also for water props. I haven't started yet because i don't know which plants are safe to cut and put in with fish.

Well, it might be good to do videos you'd want to watch yourself but can't find? Though it could be a double edged sword since there likely also isn't that as much interest in those topics? An example of some I've been looking for are people using Seramis as a sole growing medium (it's clay granules that work great for my Hoyas and some succulents, though I have no clue if it's available in the US), finding moss alternatives for climbers (coco husk, also seramis, rockwool) and finding out how, if it's at all possible to get pot sized exotic trees to fruit inside a greenhouse where we have cold winters. Ooh, since you're doing aquariums, how about a salt water one? And a series on bioluminescence / UV fluorescence in plants! 🤩 Glad to see you're continuing with the channel, let me know if you need an illustrator/graphic designer since I can't help in other ways :)

Terrarium content would be huge for your channel in my opinion, they are super fun to make and can definitely make an easy video out of. And also if you wanted any poison dart frogs for your terrariums I have a surplus! I’d be happy to give you some and can give you some fruit flies as well. Also for aquarium content if you ever do saltwater I can hook you up, just come to best fish by the fiserv forums on the weekends and I’ll be there. We also have tons of freshwater fish and inverts too.

@@TechplantChannel yes I do, don’t mind all my old bs on there from way back in high school I haven’t used it since then besides to look at shit lmao but we actually just recently talked a bit about sundews it’s Taylor__pink . I love these frogs and can tell you pretty much anything you need to know about them, the care is ultra simple tho so don’t be worried and they aren’t actually poisonous in captivity either so you can even touch them. But the species I have to is I kid you not… the most toxic animal with a vertebrae on planet earth in the wild which is kinda cool.

Videos - Your experiments are great, you can probably make more than 1 video from the footage (release experiment update videos) to maximize the footage since I understand people appreciate the long period experiments but this leads to slower video releases. I think people would appreciate even just more plant/grow tip vids. Or plant spotlight videos. Species Collection videos. How to pollinate. Tissue culture. Etc. Plant store too - plants for sure, moss pole, trellis, etc. i think sell the actual products would be good, most ppl likely don’t have 3D printer, including me. But there are some people w 3D printers so you can also sell the designs for cheaper than the actual product price, if you would like. I personally am not in terrarium/aquarium at this time but would be open to the content and I do know a lot of people in this community are into either one or the other as well. You are great and we wish you all the best in the years and ventures ahead

Firstly, congratulations on the second tiny human on the way soon! Secondly, i am so here for Terrarium/ Aquarium content. I just started watching a KZfaq channel called Ants Canada and i'm obsessed with the terrariums on there. I would love to see some experiments with Alocasia, growing in different Mediums or other things as i have 9 different Alocasia and am finding them quite different from each other in terms of their care. If a shop is on the horizon, selling 3D printed parts and the files would be good to accommodate everyone. I don't personally have a 3D printer but i know that people who do would probably prefer to purchase files. Anyway, can't wait to follow the 2024 journey for the channel but remember to take breaks when you need them 😊

When I clicked on the video I was hoping that the thing that was going to be different was that your content was going to be getting even more bonkers, I'm glad to see you had the same thing in mind. If you have a setup for time lapse photography, that could be a fun addition to the experiments. I have a few things I'd like to try myself but first I have to make some space to set such things up.

overall general ideas regarding experiments being terrarium experiments and how to deal with those more humid pests and moulds with the lack of ventilation in closed terrariums?? ive been struggling with terrarium building and i live in a relatively arid climate. small diy greenhousing racks on relative budgets and limited tools as well? an enclosed space that could look like. at least nice or slick for presentation but uses relatively cheap materials! and talking tech regarding lighting fixtures & bulbs?

oh you got me !!! LMFAO . OK so i have a wild suggestion. remember the time you tried to splice a pothos and monstera? OK, so, take several kinds of monsteras (with matching stem sizes) and splice different nodes together to make a grafted/spliced variety. I think the reason the pothos one didnt work is bc they werent the same kind of plant. Be so cool to see a regular monstera plant start growing Thai Con, albo, verigated etc. ALSO congrats on the new baby! Hope all went well.
