Big thanks to NewTypeHQ for sending me this kit to build and paint to make this video. All the Anime clips & music had to be removed Bandai claimed the last video. Yes, I know it is Bar-BAT-Tos, but I had Freudian slip Noticed this while editing And after two days of film + editing I said screw it. I know the top hatch comes out, I questioned why it barely came out. But others in the comment section pointed out this is obviously done for future MG kits like the lupus.

Like the paint job, has a grimy look to it in my eyes. Seems more appropriate for the pilot and MS than the factory clean look.

I think it looks good with the light weathering you did. Alot of people all ovr the internet are doing super weathered mg barbatos so yours stands out. I did a clean paint job which is something I rarely do no weathering at all. And I actually painted the little figure which is another 1st just cause it was super easy and nice to do and I had extra paint to do it

I'm loving that background set. This channel is inspiring me to get back into automotive modeling after a 30ish year hiatus. I have been buying kits for about 15 years but have barely put a single drop glue to plastic in that time.

Three years later: not a single new MG Barb variant, not even another IBO MG. They literally don’t even have to make a new inner frame for another kit due to all the gundams canonically being the same internally. They literally crafted the show to perfectly mass produce MGs, but all we have is one MG and a few FMs

Looks beautiful PapaGundam, the little personal spin on the colour scheme is great. The katana.. so good. The way the light bounces off the edges of the blade. Good choice on the gaia notes. As for the kit I think you've sold me on getting this instead of waiting for the Lupus MG. I didn't expect you to praise the hell out of this kit. I also recall seeing photos where the top hatch opens for the cockpit so check it out. Hopefully, your paint hasnt disrupted it. Yes they'll milk the crap out of not just the Barbatos but the inner frame that can be easily reused for all the IBO Gundam frames

I've built many master grades like sazabi, nu, sinanju stein, freedom 2.0, zz, dynames. But this beast is by far the best mg for me! A lot of detail and room for customizing. I just finished my painted one and ordered a 2nd one for my custom job. Hope we will get lupus rex soon.

This thing was such a treat to build and paint. I'm going to be possibly buying two more to have the different versions of Barbatos.

Given how good this kit came out I camt wait for the barbatos lupus as even the HG had amazing part separation

ItsaGunpla I love how you did your barbatos gundam it looks like it has bin in so many battles and wars. It looks really AWESOME. I got high grade barbatos from the iron blooded orphans for christmas and on vacation I found high grade after colony XXXG Gundam wing 2013 kit. What can I say, you killed it bruh! Love that you stayed close to the anime and darkened the white and most importantly, didnt color the pistons Gold lol soon enough you will be fully converted to IBO! ...Just got my set of SIMP decals today though, they are super nice! Love the mika and the CGS container though. Really nice touch 👌🏼...hate to do it, but its Tekkadan lol not Tenkadda, but tomato tomata😅 and I think the cockpit is anime accurate if I am not mistaken, reg Barbatos opened from top and front but ill have to watch it again because now it will bug me. Nice touch adding the japanes in the title, hope you get mad exposure for this one!

Man -it’s a trip to remember getting my first issues of HOBBY JAPAN 35 years ago?! And now to see a diorama of this pro level from an american let alone filmed w/ commentary is mindblowing and a real treat - it was so much harder and expensive to connect w/ the great works of the hobby world of mech design back then - now just kick back and enjoy a new generation at a touch of a button is a dream come true :) ! glad that its evolved to this level - def nice choice on the “dark white” -

This is my very very first MG I ever build and I'm satisfied with it! Is not too expensive and badass looking Gundam. Would love to see Lupus and Lupus Rex on MG, they going to be so cool!

Id say this is a good opportunity for GBWC goers. This year will be filled with barabatos so the judges would naturally get tired of seeing the thing. Letting the unique entries stand out more.

I really like the Barbatos, probably my favorite mobile suit. What stands out to me is that instead of making it's primary weapon a beam sword, or gun like every other Gundam, it uses a massive hunk of metal on a stick. Very reminiscent of Tekkadan, a garage band fleet made of garbage stolen equipment.

Mika is blank outside of Barbatos. In it he and it become a wild animal. Awesome work dude.

With mine, I painted all the red, blue and yellow parts with dark metallic greys, diff. tones. All pistons and tubes dark copper tone & high gloss for the whites. Man wish we could share pic in YT. I love this kit.

Seriously though, aesthetically I think this is one of my favorites out of those you've done and as always, loving the paint job. From what you said about the articulation though, it sounds like the quality of this kit is what in an ideal world, you should expect as standard. But damn, that shipping container...

The top chest hatch still slides open, but the front hatch opens that way likely to future-proof the frame. Most calamity-war-era gundams use the same base frame, so likely when they make the lupus/lupus rex/flauros/bael/etcetera, they dont have to make a whole new frame mold.

The way you opened the hatch is for displaying the pilot. The actual upper hatch opens accurately as seen in the show. And we have a great chance at seeing any of the other 72 units given the frame is not labeled specific for this kit.

I love how sleek this is. Its almost like they made a fitted business suit of a gundam. Its not the chunky thick bodied mobile suits of yesteryear. Almost moves like a weld built suit of armor.

It's not my favorite Gundam story either but IBO really was about the tragedies of war instead of a Disney ending it was more like watching the inevitable. Raise your flag! Love your view on this kit. I don't know if you know who mecha gaikotsu is, but he has read the translation on the runners and the inner frame is just a generic frame so we may see more than just Barbatos variants.

The wrist joint on this kit is bonkers. So mobile yet stable.

WTF KZfaq!!! No alert for this! Better late than never... Sexy work Gundam 👍 Barbatos always gave me a Armored Core feel to it. It doesn't feel like a Gundam,it doesn't have that blocky look like most Gundums.

That looks amazing! I can't wait to build and paint mine! I have a question for you though. Is there anything to watch out for when painting the inner frame that might make some of the moving parts or armor stick too much or hamper them in some way? Some of the kits I have painted in the past have had that problem (I don't know if it was the design of the inner frame, if I made the paint layers too thick, didn't thin the paint enough, etc.) and I am a little nervous this kit will do the same for me.

The cockpit is correct though. In the show both the top hatch slides open and the front opens out. You see the front hatch opened when it’s the lupus Rex when mikazuki is talking to atra. Also can’t wait to get the rest of the ibo gundams in mg since the frame plates say gundam frame not barbatos.

I'd love some extra option parts for the Barby. Get a bunch of the forms out of the way, then do a RE100 for that space carrier thingy, then drop 6th Form (Space), then Lupus and Lupus Rex. Hell, it'd be DOPE if they just dropped a raw IBO Gundam Frame and had some cool option sets so that you could make your own Gundams from the Ars Goetia.

The cockpit is probably designed that way so they could easily redesign the armour for the Lupus and Lupus Rex, as those two had a modified cockpit hatch that opened that way. Great review BTW.

The hatch opens up 2 different ways. 1 the way you did it and 2 a way similar to the strike gundam
