It's not possible to express just how much Madonna changed the game, not only for music artists, but for minority groups of all shapes, sizes and colors. She was, and still is, a beacon of hope for so many of these groups long before it was the popular thing to do! Madonna was also instrumental in bringing MTV and music videos to the forefront which, believe it or not, was not very popular among many music artists of the time. 💙

The brazenness of this video and entire era was at the height of Madonnas popularity which made it even more shocking. The video was played after midnight on MTV and the song went to #1. The video was intentionally shot to give it that “vintage porn” feel.

G'day it's Steven from Down Under What can I say... Madonna went where no one else would dare to go, it wasn't just about being controversial but to also create conversation. This video was released in the early 1990's, it was of course another major hit and if I recall correctly it was being aired on tv, I believe MTV was also playing it. There are also few celebrities in this video if you look closely. Y'all may be aware of her very successful metal cover SEX book, during the photo shoot of the said book some filming took place and was used in this video. I recall around 1993 when Madonna visited Sydney with her world tour; The Girlie Show ( I think that's what it was called ), she performed a version of this song, it's worth watching that, actually it's worth watching the entire concert. Oh and there's a really cool version of this song in the Concessions Tour too. ALL HAIL THE QUEEN OF POP

Here's a little story if you've got a minute, when this song came out in 1992 I was a sophomore in college and living in boston. I had just gotten my first ever Visa card and the very first thing I purchased on it was the Madonna sex book as well as the album erotica. Those were the first and to this day the best things I ever put on my card. Well not really but you know what I mean

It was a revolutionary times in feminism and of female sexuality that nearly destroyed Madonna’s career in the United States. Her S. E. X. book, Erotica era, and Justify My Love video- should be your next reaction- were all about sexuality from a female point of view and more importantly inclusivity of all. These were the beginning of 90’s. Playboy, Hustler, Penthouse could objectify women the way men wanted to see women but a woman like Madonna was crucified when she did the same thing. You two are my new favorite Madonna reactors. I love the Mrs’s love, appreciation and understanding my queen’s iconic and legendary archive. You guys should react to her live tours, starting with Blond Ambition 1990. If you love M with her music and videos, you will go head over hills. Back in 1989 i was entering High School and to say I AM GAY freely and openly was the same as saying I HAVE AIDS . Back then Aids was the Gay Disease , a punishment from God or so Straight America thought , you were cast aside on every level of your life , Interracial couples were seen as taboo , as weird , to talk about sexually openly was also taboo , more so when the church was in control of people`s minds, then MADONNA came to the scene and changed all that . Erotica is not just about her sexual desires , and sexual fantasies , it also shows her ( a white woman with a black man ) and a 3some (Madonna , Daddy Kane and Naomi Campbell ) shows women with women , men with men , and son on . For you guys that are younger , the 90`s must feel so long ago but for us , it`s like just yesterday we gained some Rights , the right to live , the right to love whoever we want , the right to be ! Madonna broke many barriers and this is one of them .
