To me, these newer relationship terms and jargons are coined to satisfy people who are confused about the circumstances in their life or who wanted to have less of a stigma attached to them for not wanting to commit to a long term relationship which can easily fail. To put it even more bluntly, some people refuse to put in effort, time, sweat and tears into a long term relationship because their hearts don't want to settle down in this cupnoodle relationship era. It's the dilemma of choices. Too many choices. And always thinking that the pasture is greener on the other side. And I agree with the host that marriage is no longer seen as be-all and end-all of a romantic relationship. This opens up the can of worms for couples regardless of sexual orientation. End of the day, it requires two people who are ready for a long term relationship to commit to a long term relationship. Any lacklustre performance by either party will just cause the relationship to fail.

The thing is people complain about labels only to label themselves into other more confusing categories and they are just doing this because they have options.

Some people are different (have a different self) when in a relationship vs not in one. Maybe it would help knowing if that is the case.. and how different it may be. at least for me, it will let me understand what is stopping the other from going into a labelled rship. Or if there’s no difference to them, then the reason could be something else.. hope I make sense?

Is there growth in non-commital relationships? Without the investment in the relationship, I believe it is hard to understand the other half to build stronger and deeper bonds. So much of my commited relationship is built on that invested connection and it is hard for me to fanthom what sort of good can come out of these new label relationships...

Either its a relationship or it is not a relationship that's it..all the labels things..just seems like an overly complicated way to say it is not a relationship..by using labels aren't you just following the norms?...hence you are no longer just doing your thing..but confined to the said labels?....lol..then you cannot say just do your own thing?...just stay alone easier then can do whatever & piak (safely - condom) whoever you want & no responsibility to no one. 😂

Why ? One perspective is the bad connotation with the term FwB perhaps ? Cos that usually meant the benefit is sex. Why not the girl just enjoys the guy's company and has higher earning power ? Then they will call the guy a sugar baby... but I am fine with that.
