@eelijarvinen40859 ай бұрын
Hi Cody! For an authentic sauna experience, the temp should reach at least 175F and you should go in naked. Often we use a dedicated piece of cloth to sit on, the bench gets hot. Also remember to hydrate and get out if you get light headed.

As a finnish person I’ve never felt more represented than watching the sauna portion in this video. And the from the sauna to the cold plunge is why we swim in ice water after sauna in finland. Feels so refreshing
@GeographyGeek9 ай бұрын
The slower long runs work. I’ve been stubborn about it forever. I’d run in Zone 3 and up every run up until like 2 months ago. I pretty much instantly broke out of a plateau and had more energy the rest of the day.

i went to a sauna in finland last month and one of the rooms they had was so intense that i only lasted about 30 seconds in it. i felt my nose hairs actively burning off. it was also pitch black so maybe i was just scared of the dark. the rest of the sauna experience was amazing, including the cold plunge in the gulf of finland all that to say i'm jealous of your barrel

Be careful going straight from sauna to cold plunge, causes unnecessary strain on your heart. You see the most benefit from cooling down to neutral after sauna, then doing cold exposure

Cody! The reason you train better when not drinking is because when you drink it lowers your body’s ability to convert food into energy. It’s a diuretic and makes you more likely to be dehydrated. It affects your body’s ability to transport oxygen due to decreasing absorption of B1 and B12 which play a key role in oxygenation. Hope that helps!! **this is a very watered down version but I didn’t want to bore you with details

Hey Cody! Thanks so much for making these videos. I’ve been watching since the start, and I never miss a week! You have truly made a positive impact in my life as a result of this channel. I actually used to be in way better shape than I am now.. but about 3 years ago, I started at paramedic school, I got injured, had surgery, and then Covid all happened. Since then I’ve been trying to get back in shape. Last week something clicked for me, and I’ve finally gotten back into running. At first I couldn’t even run 600 metres without dying. And now only about a week later, with a bit of consistency, I can do a whole mile without stopping!! Keep doing what you’re doing. The impact you’re making is huge! With love from a girl in Ottawa

Hey Cody! On your comment on long runs, the pace of the long run really depends on the purpose of the long run and what you are training for. For marathon training, it's best to start them 20% slower than your marathon pace, and cut down to 10% slower than marathon pace. So decently fast I'd say. But for ultramarathon purposes, slow long runs will benefit you more.
