Jessica Braun if you fry your tortilla in a little oil, for just a few seconds it will firm them up so they dont fall apart!
@AdrianainEP
@AdrianainEP 4 жыл бұрын
Just a tip: Your corn tortillas are probably falling apart because you're nuking them. Try warming them up in a skillet on your stovetop. That helps evaporate the moisture in the tortillas. Nuking them in a towel keeps the moisture in.

I literally paused the video to come comment this lol. The reason why they’re falling apart is because she’s microwaving them. It will take the same amount of time to warm them up on a skillet and it would taste a million times better, plus the tortilla will be sturdier. Back to the video lol.

You can actually grow your own green onions. I learned this from Kelly’s Korner’s channel here on KZfaq. You put them in water and apparently they just keep replenishing! Also, you don’t feel nervous doing new content w food. You’re a natural, still so you but just in the kitchen. I think you did a great job!
@debbyd5729
@debbyd5729 4 жыл бұрын
eobrien1 I’ve done this and it totally works! I bought some back in Feb and I’ve harvested from them eight times (no joke)! The greens get a little bit thinner the more you cut them down but it still works! Just be sure to change the water often or it gets slimy. You can also replant the whites into some potting soil and that works, too. 👍🏽

Im a professional chef in St.Augustine Florida and its always interesting to me to watch regular people cook at home. Sesame oil is definitely an essential if you enjoy eating and cooking asian inspired food. In your taco recipe instead of starting with olive oil in your pan to ground the meet you can go straight in with the sesame oil. Adds a lot of flavor and i personally think it helps cook the flavor into the meat.

We made the tacos last night & they were a hit! My husband LOVED them. And my 2 & 3 yr olds were gobbling up the meat from their plates (rare for my son). Made the corn tortillas in the skillet like all the comments suggested. Delicious! Came back to get the recipe to send to my mom.

Have you seen taco bowl forms? You can use corn tortillas in them and bake them so they aren't quite hard tacos, but they also don't fall apart as easy. I make shrimp ceviche taco bowls with pico and avocado this way, so good. Also ground turkey can be subbed into most things that call for ground beef, I like it better actually.

We had the same issue with not eating as much salad as we thought we would. We bought a vacuum sealer attachment for the tops of mason jars and put the washed and dried lettuce in there, and it kept for so much longer!

Hi Jessica! On you saying you need to buy scallions more often... I saw something this week that says you can keep regrown them from the bulb end you cut off. Put the bulb in a small amount of water to sprout and eventually you can plant it and then keep using the bits that grow! I’m definitely considering doing it as I love having them on hand!

I am looking forward to more videos like this. I just printed out all three recipes to try. Your PDF's are AMAZING. I wish all recipe print outs were that easy to follow, as well as ONE PAGE. ha. I hope you all are doing well during these difficult times. Keep up the great work!

Jess a tip fir the corn tortillas, heat up a small amount of canola oil/or whatever you like to use fir frying....about a 1/2inch in pan, when its simmering place your shell in it and cook on each side for approximately 20 to 30 seconds...a little longer if you like, my hubby likes them cooked 45seconds, after place on a paper towel lined plate, ill lay like 3 on one piece of paper towel spread out, then put another paper towel on top, and do 3 more shells, then another paper towel...ETCETERA ...till your done with the amount you want to cook...i them place a paper towel on top...it kinda soaks up the extra oil...this method is the only method I use for my soft Tacos, it heats the corn, they are pliable but less likely to fall apart so quickly, they might still split , especially if you over stuff them but hey grab a fork and eat the rest after your shelled taco is gone...you might have tried already but thought I would share...the corn tortilla just has a more robust flavor this way.

I’ve been doing the tomato, chickpea and egg recipe for a while now. Ever since Tyler posted it on one of your vlogs. My husband and I love it. Sometimes I had avocado to it and cilantro. And it’s great with warm naan to. The sesame beef tacos were really good. I had some pickled red cabbage (not sour kraut !) from the last time I made tacos and it was a great addition to your tacos. It adds a little bit of acidity and balances the flavours. Thanks again 😊

I have started using chickpeas in my cooking pretty frequently. Today I made a curry with chickpeas, sweet potato, and lots of veggies. I am interested to try this with the runny eggs. I keep thinking about getting that cookbook and now that we're quarantined maybe it's finally time.

Love all of yours and Tyler’s recent videos, you’re the one KZfaq family I still enjoy watching (and I think it’s because you’re still real people ❤️) and Omgosh compelled to comment cause how wonderful is Gigi during the adult Mac and Cheese recipe in the background! Taking her phone calls, very important girl on the move! 😂 So adorable!

I have a tip for scallions / green onions - clean them and cut them up and store in a sealed container lined with a paper towel. They will last 1-2 weeks in your fridge (and this means you can add a bunch to each grocery shopping trip and always have them on hand and ready to go)

We have the mix and chop tool as well, it works so good. Also try getting the street taco size corn tortillas. They don't break apart when you are trying to eat.

When I make tacos I take about tablespoon of oil in a pan. And I put my corn tortillas in the oil for a few minutes. It's so good! Way better than just heating in microwave.

I will be making ALL THREE of these! Always looking for quick dinners. And after LeighAnn & Grant’s reaction to the tacos, I had to see what was so magical. Also! Love using sesame oil for Laura in the Kitchen’s egg roll in a bowl. Another super fast meal we make all the time (I add scrambled egg). Highly recommend!

I have little suggestion for your corn tortillas so they don't fall apart (so easily, at least lol). This is what my husband and I do, and it is soooo good. Double them in a small nonstick pan, heat them on medium heat with a lid until you start to see brown spots, then flip them over like a pancake as only to cook one side of each. Then put your taco fixings on your double tortillas. It makes them a tiny bit crispy and chewy, prevents them from getting soggy, and brings out the flavor. It is super easy and quick! No oil needed.

OMG I love anything with sesame oil. I use it for stir fry with chicken or beef. Or just veggies! I will use orange marmalade and ginger and won't even need sugar.
