Hey Guys It’s Joel!
Welcome back to the channel, and a particularly exciting video. From the title, you will have seen that my friend Louis has bought a BMW Z4.
I had no idea he was going to do this, until he told me that he wanted to have a look at one. I’m pleased to say, I convinced him to check out the 3.0 model, and he ended up buying one!
Hopefully now we can do plenty more videos with the two cars!

Joel, When I was your age, I was driving an Austin Healey 100 6. Now that I'm a bit older (80) I'm driving a 2008 Z4 3-0i. I like it but It will never replace the true sports car that the Healey is. PS. The Healey didn't have cup holders!

He almost crashed it already :D His Z4 looks really good in sterling grey with the 18“ wheels but then again I’m biased as it’s identical to mine. Keep spreading the e85 passion. I don’t know anyone with that many Z4s in his circle. :D

I love those door lock pins! Makes me wanna get some for my z4 3.0i. And honestly the cup holders break so easy in z4's(mine are broken 😂) that it's not a big deal if he doesn't have them or not lmao. Those rims though, the best kind of rims you can get 👌

I have 2008 3.0i purchased it with 43,000 miles. It's the best purchase ever. I have cupholders but I don't use them. Zed4 for life!!!!!

wheel spacers .... front 25 mm, rear 30 mm is must have for these wheels. I had spacers exactly those sizes and wheels looked 10x more agressive , while not pumping out of shape side

Retro fit cruise control. Should just be plug and play on that like it was on mine. Best thing I’ve done on it by far. I’ve got a set of 19” 5 spokes in for a refurb just now. Should have them back by the end of the week 😎

I blame you Joel, I watched your Z4 video’s and fell in love with the idea of owning one. In June this year I bought a 3.0i and couldn’t be happier with it. Compared to my old E87 116i (with the N45) it is so much easier to drive day to day. I put my old wheels on the beast (Riva DTM 7.5x18 square) and it’s awesome. I’m tempted to a stud conversion & put spacers on her, have your followers done the same/similar without issue?

Come on mate time to move up to a z4 coupe ! If you love the convertible you’ll love the coupe different league I loved my 03 but the coupe is the way to go 😀

I had one when I was about your aqe, then marriage came along, so now im old I just bought 1, yes it needs work im a bodywork person so no issue there, but there are a few lights on the engine light and the DTC, I bought the 2.5 5 speed 72000 miles, its not rapid fast compared to my Audi's but its a lovely tourer for the very low price I paid

Congratulations! Just a few thoughts; there are drain plugs in front of the rear wheel wells that help remove water build up from destroying your convertible top motor, there is a fix for 'sticking steering wheel' on KZfaq if it becomes a bigger problem and lastly, my brother-in-law just recently brought a 2005 2.5i Z for 4,654.50 pounds. He then went out (foolishly in my opinion) and spent 2,715.19 pounds for a sound system upgrade. And for your information; 1,800 pounds for insurance is equal to $2,320.16 U.S. dollars. A bit high considering your driving record.

the bmw lock things look anything but cool. more like chavy, cheap ebay bits you can buy on ebay for 5 pounds or less. i should know, i had a set at some point on my e36, lol.

Great video mate! Im 6'3 - 6'4 and looking at getting a Zed but worried about the legroom and headroom (I do have fairly long legs). Do you know any taller people in Z4's and what its like?

Haha, I have up holders on my 05 Zed 4 2.5i ...triple black.I have NEVER used them in the 2 1/2 yrs. I owned the car. They are brand new replacements. While checking the service reports that came w/the car I see they were replaced twice, a heavy set Dude owned the car before me and kept knocking the drivers side out with his knees. The cup holders , like most plastic parts on a BMW interior are cheap and chintzy.

It's 2020 now and seen some cheap z4's around £2000 mark is it a waist of time buying or would you still recommend with around 100 to 150 mark on the clock was thinking about a weekend car not daily drive as retired

You both need to get clear side repeaters at least :) (De-gingering headlights can be a tricky depending on if you have Xenons or Halogens, but swapping the sides is super easy)

The sides are only about £21 each from BMW for clears, but the headlights would be expensive, well, unless you try the DIY approach

Im 22 with 1 year no claims and my insurance quote for my 06 2.0 z4 was £2500, my previous car was a 04 suzuki alto (wheelie bin) and my insurance with a black box was 1700. 😭

If you're going to buy a car from a private seller, use an App called Cuva. You can insure yourself by the hour.

Question for you both; what is your takes on the Z4 as a daily driver/ longer drives? Also, talk about the leg room a bit. I am 6'1" and all legs, so while the height wouldn't be a problem for me, I was curious about the legroom under the dash. My wife's 2009 328i sport coupe has decent leg room. how does the Z4 compare? thanks, in advance

I personally find it very comfortable, although I’m average height. On bumpy roads, the ride can be stiff - but for the most part it’s smooth. Again, I’ve relatively small so feel there’s enough room to spread out, you might struggle more though, hard to say!

I bought my 3.0 Z last Year for £3K 04 plate. It has cup holders and all extra's except the sat nav..............bargain!! Why don't you add cup holders? I was told by another Z4 owner you can add after market.

Wow, just £3,200? How come it's so cheap -- in Germany Z4s with similar mileage go for about €7,000 and they're usually just 2.2 or 2.5 l.

Why don’t you just buy some from a beaker for the cup holder that’s what I did. Full unit for both sides £85 definitely worth it unless you get small coke bottles as not 100% secure but Maccys cups perfect

Oh man, I’m have replaced the $40 cup holders a crazy 6 times liter stopped getting larger drinks and now it’s broken again on my side! I had a insulated cup from hold to keep it cold. Booooo

bought 3Lt for 2700 red heated leather seats ..Sat Nav black with believe it or not cup holders on both sides .. 123 and in good nick ..think i was lucky saw plenty in worse nick for more money

I love my remapped 320d M-Sport but having been in a mates 330i, now i want that straight 6 noise, and the low down weight of a Z4 :D Don't care about the fuel economy, we won't be driving dino burners for too much longer anyways so make the most of it before Musk takes over the world.

PS cupholders on ebay for about £100 a pair. On my 320 it was a 10 min job to fit.

@@itsjoel I'm serious, the 3rd brake light will develop cracks over time if you slam your boot. Had to learn it the hard way but feel free to test for yourself :)

No you are right, mine is cracked, although at least they’re very cheap to replace!!

@@itsjoel that's true, it's 50€ for a replacement part in Germany. There is a lot of tension on that part, you can avoid it by simply shutting your trunk slowly :)
