Some of You are probably questioning why Ceuta is part of Spain and has a portuguese shield on it. All of this started in the XV century when Portugal conquered ceuta from the moors and it kept it until 1578 when the portuguese king D. Sebastião died/disappeared in a battle against the north africans. After that, his uncle ruled Portugal during 2 years, until 1580 when died. In this year the king for Portugal was disputed between three candidates which the chosen was the king of Spain in that time, resulting in the iberian union. It lasted for 60 years until 1640 which had a revolution for independence leaded by D. João IV which dissolved the union, but spain demanded ceuta, which kept the flag until today.
