A square yellow sponge named SpongeBob SquarePants lives in a pineapple with his pet snail, Gary, in the city of Bikini Bottom on the floor of the Pacific Ocean. He works as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab. During his time off, SpongeBob has a knack for attracting trouble with his starfish best friend, Patrick. Arrogant octopus Squidward Tentacles, SpongeBob's neighbor, dislikes SpongeBob because of his childlike behavior.

"Dying for Pie" was the first that made me respect Squidward. See its one thing to admit that you genuinely like SpongeBob even though you're very grumpy to him most of the time, but Squidward made sure to spend his whole day doing whatever Spongebob wanted to do because he thought he wouldn't see him again after that and felt responsible, it's kind of heartwarming actually.

One line that had me rolling was one random guy saying “Spongebob, how could you be so cold” after Spongebod says “Shake that bubble butt. It’s kinda hard to hear it with other bits of dialogue overlapping with it, but I hear it vividly every time watch that scene.

The "No, this is Patrick" scene is so iconic because not only is it so funny, but it's also cleverly stupid. Obviously, Patrick is dumb as a rock (pun intended), but if you try and put yourself in his shoes, you can kinda understand why he said and thought what he did. Just another part of why the pre-movie SpongeBob writing is SO DAMN GOOD!! As always, I love this series of reactions and also looking forward to them!!💖👍

To me, Big Pink Loser is the most relatable SpongeBob episode. When I left high school and my internship job, I was left with a doubt: what if I don't get another job, given that I have little to no experience? Anxiety about it came to me and I had little to no sleep for an entire week. My remedies were my family's support and SpongeBob. SpongeBob provided laughs in these obscure times. When I rewatched Big Pink Loser, it spoke to me personally. I too was afraid of accomplishing nothing in life, like Patrick was afraid of not getting an award. At the end of the episode, even Patrick of all people got an award and the ending quote touched me deeply: "excellency can be found even under a rock". This inspired me to keep trying. Here I am, four months later, with a decent job as a bank attendant, watching two full grown men laughing their asses off to SpongeBob. I too am. We are all fine :)

The way Squidward feels guilty and regretful about SpongeBob possibly dying from an explosion in the Dying For Pie episode is so genuine to where you feel bad for him. It's another one of those episodes where you see Squidward's soft side for SpongeBob. Great episode, too. Also, the "No, This is Patrick" bit in Big Pink Loser will never not be funny.

I slightly disagree. After all, by trying to make SpongeBob’s supposed last moments meaningful, SpongeBob nearly kills him two times. I’d say the brick wall falling on Squidward was enough Karma for his comment. But then again, the ending is hilarious, and the pie hitting Squidward in the face acts as Karma for him trying to cheat his way out of making a homemade gift. So…*shrugs*

It's pretty clear that Squidward wasn't doing all that to actually be good to Spongebob because it was right, but to clear his own conscience, in which he deserved all the pain at the end.

Fun Fact: The stock footage nuclear explosion in Dying For Pie is Operation Crossroads' Baker atomic test in Bikini Atoll, the same setting of SpongeBob. I thought it was Castle Bravo, but I was wrong as the explosion is way bigger than that.

I miss seeing mr. Krabs as a father figur to SpongeBob. Although it won't pop up occasionally after dying for pie but start making him more cheap and even some episodes don't make him kind of bad guy

Come on y'all really got to stop with the myth that Mr. Krabs was never too greedy in the early seasons or how he never becomes a so called "father figure" to Spongebob in the later seasons. There's plenty of episodes in later seasons where he is. Like seriously if you think Krabs wasn't one dimensional in the early seasons then you have a lot of excuses to make for episodes like today's set. What's your excuse for Bubble Buddy and Krabs not caring for his employee's well being like the work that Bubble made Squidward do? How about accepting any kind of money no matter what? Dirty money or not. Next the penny. That's not greed? How about taking that penny out of Spongebob's paycheck? People try to act like he was a father figure to Spongebob in that episode with Bubble Bass and yet what did he do when he supposedly failed? "Those $2 are coming out of your paycheck." He didn't care for him in that episode, he only wanted him back because he was losing money cause no one else could fry cook the food like him. Krabs would have gladly left Spongebob to stay a broken mess if Squidward could make the same quality of Krabby Patties. And today's biggest culprit episode, having to make your new employees pay money to work there. $100 a hour for Spongebob to pay Mr. Krabs when he started working and $50 an hour for Patrick. Y'all need to stop with the nostalgia glasses that all characters were better in earlier seasons, cause in Mr. Krabs case, no he wasn't.

But I actually was prefer in season 1 because season 2 of 3 is where he really started to go downhill. Yes in bubble buddy He force Squidward too take orders for a bobble. But he was doing it because you should respect all customers no matter what they look like. In season one though I think the writers were still finding out his character because they made him more about father figure to SpongeBob. Like in hookey Humiliated SpongeBob at the end teach him a lesson and keep him safe from the hooks. In suds he tells SpongeBob to go home because he's sick. And yes and pickles keep Wanted SpongeBob back because he was losing money but if you own the restaurant and you were losing money you would go out of your way to help your employees because you have to make money to stay in business

having watched Spongebob with my son when he was little, and being a fan of Clancy Brown, it really blew my mind away when I found out that he was the one that did the voice for Mr. Krabs.
