The background chanting you hear is called fanchant. It's very common in kpop culture. You'll hear it in any kpop performance with fans present. It's basically fixed lines for the fans to chant along as the song progress to show support, and personally I think it is one of the best things about kpop. You can go to IU's concert for example and memorize all these fanchants. Make you feel like you are participating in it so much more.

You can see why IU, became so popular and I think she is the best selling solo female artist in South Korea. All her CD releases are good, in my view. Over the years she has varied her musical style with her CD releases and as you know, appeared in various Korean TV dramas.
