Antivirals in Japan
Ivermectin allowed as a treatment on August 13
Doctors can prescribe without restrictions
People can buy it legally from India
Dr. Haruo Ozaki, Chairman of the Tokyo Medical Association
www.tokyo-np.c...
The situation is that the whole country is suffering from disasters.
No one will listen to me, so I will come up with a new policy
The antiparasitic drug "ivermectin" shows the number of infections and deaths of the new corona in a country that is prophylactically administered for another disease in Africa.
It is necessary to thoroughly study the clinical trial, but it seems that we are at the stage where it is okay to have the patient give an informed outlet and get permission to use it
Japan
www.japantimes...
Population, 126 million
Cases, + 79
Deaths, + 2
Lowest since June 23, 2020
Currently reopening
More than 76% of population is fully vaccinated
(South Korea, high vaccination but uptick in infections)
Boosters to start in December
Ingrained pre-pandemic flu seasons mask wearing
Delta variant wave ends
Delta variant “self-extinction”
Viral genetic mutations
Ituro Inoue, professor, National Institute of Genetics
Delta variant in Japan accumulated too many mutations
Virus’s error-correcting protein, nsp14
Majority of nsp14 specimens in Japan seemed to have undergone many genetic changes in mutation sites called A394V
Non-structural protein, made by the virus
Therefore errors accumulated leading to non-viability
Also
More people in Asia have a defense enzyme called APOBEC3A that attacks RNA viruses,
Including the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19,
when compared to people in Europe and Africa.
National Institute of Genetics and Niigata University
Research to discover how the APOBEC3A protein affects the nsp14 protein
A394V discovered in 24 other countries
SARS ended abruptly in 2003
Working on a drug to inhibit nsp14

Hello Dr. John! Thanks always for videos. The situation in Japan has changed a lot for the better and we are grateful for it. However, I'd like to share a correction with what I think is either a misunderstanding or a mistranslation on the use of ivermectin here. I've seen many English people on twitter claiming that ivermectin became approved for use in Japan on August 13th. This is not the case. (1) The source article that caused this confusion, which you've kindly showed in your video, quotes Dr Haruo Ozaki talking about its viability for treatment. The relevant part is at the bottom of the article. In English, what he's saying is basically "I think it's unlikely that the drug does not work at all. I think we're at a point now where we can ask for approval to use [ivermectin] after giving informed consent to patients. However, we do need to conduct a thorough clinical trial and study it first." He does not state here that ivermectin is approved. The "approval"/"permission" here is not in the context of "yeah it's okay to use as long as we ask patients" but rather "we need to ask approval of the medical regulators to use this medicine." (2) You can confirm the status on Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PDMA) website. If ivermectin were approved it would appear in the latest FY 2021 file here www.pmda.go.jp/english/review-services/reviews/approved-information/drugs/0002.html It does not at the time of this comment. While the misunderstood approval news seems to be floating around everywhere on the English internet, there hasn't really been any such news here, nor is ivermectin being used regularly for the treatment of COVID-19 in either Tokyo or elsewhere in Japan. That said, people are able to find sources to buy it and take it if they so wish, at their own risk. One more tip: I highly recommend you try DeepL for translations from Japanese. Google Translate is sometimes absolute rubbish.

There should be no surprise that CV19 ripped through the nursing homes/retirement homes of the US. The whole CV19 hysteria has been missing one critical thing - context. I would normally turn to the government and their health department for information to help me make a decision about what I should do but, when Bloomfield dismissed Ivermectin as "horse paste", I was puzzled. I could see only 2 possibilities; first that the minister and his advisers were unaware that over 3.7 billion doses have been given to humans over the past several decades and that, alongside it's de-worming properties, it has antibacterial and antiviral properties OR that they were deliberately misleading the population, presumably in order to pursue some unknown agenda. Either way, I no longer believe a word my government says without third-party verification. I sincerely hope that these individuals and departments will be taken to task when this is all over but, unfortunately, I have my doubts.

I would like to draw everybody's attention to the fact that very similar development took place in India in April-May of this year. They managed to overturn a very nasty covid situation by distributing Ivermectin to positively tested people. Another point I would like to make: In contrast to Japan, India's vaccination is at the level of 30% if I am not mistaken. So this fact denies the correlation between the Covid case development and the level of vaccination. On the other hand, India and Japan data support a correlation between the Ivermectin usage and the overturn of the development.

At Japan's peak for new cases (Aug 26), only 43.9% of Japanese were fully vaccinated, and only 55% had at least one dose; meaning, the next day was the begin of the decline, with a far lower vaccination status than other developed countries. 1 month later on Sept 26, new cases were down 90% - NINETY PERCENT - and fully vaxxed population had only grown to 57.6%, and one dose population grew to 69.1%. I am extremely hesitant to give credit to the vaccine.

John, live in Japan I’ve not heard anything or anyone taking ivermectin either prophylactically or in response to infection. you don’t explain at all that slight kink comes from delay in reporting due public holiday. Strengthening of mitigation measures during mambo and the fact Japan started vaccinating much later and peak of doses was around mid to late summer, very different to South Korea, additionally in general testing has been woeful at best of time. The strategy of treating was mainly around clusters and contact tracing as opposed to tests been widely available. Therefore it’s tricky to compare the shape of graphs between other countries and Japan. A sharp decline seems reasonable when it seems transmission is slowing due to the wide uptake of vaccine and immunity. The labs respond reducing the test output

As a some kind of academic myself it was so refreshing to go trough the studies and see the data analyzed compared to the clickbait fear journalism that world was going trough. So I can hands down say this channel has been the best source of information regarding the pandemic for the past two years now. I did have my moments of doubt when the vaccinations started and this channel (like almost the whole world) took it as this is it. My caution did not rise from your analyzis but from the fact that here in Finland all the senior executives of our national health institute (THL) are either former employees of Pfizer or has gotten huge research funds from them. And as I would call it, the propaganda has been very strong all the way to today. So now getting to the point I'm absolutely delighted to see that you are still following the facts and data and giving us information about alternatives and you will not hang yourself in the one truth. Japanese doctors are generally in agreement that they don't really know if the jabs did anything. Lastly, therapeutics were introduced late into the surge and my impression is that they were not widely used. I did see them used though. By comparison Canada, which has a population of 40 million has had 29,550 Covid deaths to date. Clearly, one country's approach is better than another's. Guy in Japan here...Google Translate from Japanese to English is terrible, even for simple, conversational phrases. Maybe that's why you got this wrong. Four weeks later, it's clear that much of what you are saying in this video isn't correct. Japan has made it almost impossible to travel here if you are not a Japanese national. If you do travel here, you are REQUIRED to isolate in a government-run hotel for a minimum of 3 days (up to 6 days depending on where you are coming from/have been in the last 14 days). In that time you are given two PCR tests and not allowed to leave the room. After that time is over, you continue to be tracked by app (you are REQUIRED to install this app before you leave the airport, and have to rent a phone if you don't have one that can run the app). You are required to self-isolate for the remainder of 14 days and are required to be recorded on video for 30 seconds up to two times a day, while also having your location tracked. Nearly everyone here wears a mask when they leave their house, even at 3am on an empty street. Most businesses have ceiling-to-countertop plastic shields up between cashiers and customers. Social distancing is taken seriously. Also, how does a drug used to treat people who have ALREADY been infected and developed COVID affect the transmissibility of the virus in the general public? Sure, it would shorten the recovery time of people in the hospital for treatment, but it doesn't stop the virus from being transmitted. And we know that asymptomatic people are an important vector for transmission, so how would ivermectin play a role there? It doesn't really add up that ivermectin played a significant role in that curve.

I lived in Japan and have many friends all over the country. So here is what I know from trustworthy sources. Tokyo had by far the hardest measures, but never a real lockdown. Other cities such as Nagoya had nearly no measures, just canceled bigger evens for example. Most measures were never enforced by the state or prefectures but suggestions from the government, so some nightclubs and such (mostly run by yakuza) didn't close at all. Restaurants never closed, although far fewer people went out to eat during a long period. Mask wearing was before and is still a thing, and at the moment and probably for a long time close to 100% of people are wearing masks in public and at work. In clubs and in Izakayas (Bars) they are mostly not. This, a friend of mine said, seems to have become the new normal. Also Japan until a week ago completely shut off from travel and immigration. It has to be said that the Japanese are generally very concerned with cleanliness and are generally very healthy. Obesity is extremely rare.

Wow thank you Dr Campbell! I’m so glad you reported on this - and from several angles! Very, very interesting. It hasn’t received a lot of mainstream media attention as yet, and I did wonder about a possible ivermectin connection. I think a lot of information is flying under the radar, but I did find a video anecdote on another video sharing platform (beginning with R), of a doctor in Japan successfully treating around 500 patients with ivermectin. The reaction of the interviewer at the end is priceless.

The Brits have just realised their government on top of the emergency powers are paying millions to the media industry for advertising. But Of Course, advertising these days is about being suttle, manipulating the audience etc. Given the fear threats and abuse by governments in the west are consistent across the board one begs the question, how many other governments and indeed pharmaceutical companies are paying out millions to control the narrative. Now everything makes sense, MSM is financially struggling against the web.

I didn't wonder about a possible Ivermectin connection. I think it is obvious personally. When is Britain going to allow Ivermectin instead of this less effective very expensive Pfizer concoction.

Just to let you know John, they have flagged this as false information on Facebook. My friend has been able to get ivermectin over the counter since aug 13 th and has been taking it for two months twice a week. They have 147 cases . The graphs don’t lie IMO .

Some places are allowing it, but not all. America's Frontline Doctors have posted ways to get it, something about compound pharmacies or labs, I think.

I haven't found a single Japanese language website that claims Ivermectin has been allowed for COVID treatment in Japan on or since August 13 except for one that reports what they claim to be a fake news circulating in Taiwan. Not only that but Ivermectin clinical trial in Japan has only started this month (yesterday) and only at institutions in Aichi prefecture.

The Chairman of the Tokyo Medical Association making that statement is not the same as "Ivermectin was allowed from then on". He wasn't the one in charge of policies, in fact to my knowledge the Tokyo Medical Association is not a government institution, he was making an open letter to the government at best. Maybe I'm missing something but you did not demonstrate that they started allowing ivermectin on the 16th of August
