After Mr. Joey Javier Reyes and I won the Grand Prize at the 1st ABU-Golden Kite World Song Festival in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1989 for the song "Easy to Love You", GMA7 sent Ms. Ivy Violan and I as Philippine representatives to the 1991 International Midnight Sun Song Festival held in Lahti, Finland where Ivy Violan won the Grand Prize singing Easy To Love You and Chilly Winds. I won the Best Arrangement of a Finnish Song Award for Chilly Winds. We made history there because it was the first time a Filipino musical arranger won a Best Musical Arrangement Award in an international competition. Savor the pride we felt representing the Philippines in international competitions!

Matindi si madam! Before Regine Velasquez, there was Ivy Violan as well as Dulce na talagang nagtayo ng bandera ng Pinas sa international arena of singing champions. Grabe 'tong si Ivy. Ang linis ng tirada sa mga nota. And even if she reaches high notes, walang sakit sa tenga akong narinig. Her voice is so sweet yet powerful and the range is crazy high! 🔥

I have been coming back to watch this all over again from the first time I heard her sing this winning rendition of her original song. I'm always at the edge of the chair listening to that last part of your belting out the highest note. Truly, you are the singing contest queen of our beloved country.

Singers now should be like Ivy Violan. I'm honestly baffled how some end up in the music industry despite not even able to sing live, singing songs by lip synging with altered and enhanced notes using modern technology while the real singers are not even given a chance to have an album for not having connections.

In the mid 90s, we also sent Jenine Desiderio sa Midnight Sun Song Festival but she lost. I saw it sa cable noon na may Indonesian channel. Pag natatalo ang mga rep natin, di pinapalabas sa tv😄

I'm having goosebumps ng makita ko ngaun itoh... I remember my childhood... I started admiring her nung sumali cla ni Dulce sa Asia Pacific and this song if I am not mistaken was first introduced in Golden Kite Na nanalo ng Best Original Song... simula nun hnd na nawala sa isipan ko ang kanta na ito... mahirap kantahin ito dahil maraming ng vocal technique ang requirement ang kinakailangan... for me this Danny Tan masterpeiece dhl kung san san lupalop nya nadala ang song na itoh.... stl remain unmatched on its achievement... Bravo! Ivy Violan will always be the Queen of Song Festival....

Eto yung mga singers na hindi mahirap panoorin. Hindi ka kakaba kaba kung pipiyok, maa out of tune o na sirang sira muka na ang sakit na sa tenga ng boses sa taas na wala naman basta lang maitaas. Ivy Violan and the likes wala mapapatanga ka nalang sa galing.
