Hi Gregory, Thanks mate, I will sort the clear coat review out along with a few other's featuring the LPH400, I was quite excited to get the LPH400 , I know like a kid in a sweet shop 😀, it hasn't disappointed although it does appear the orange cap version is a W400 WBX with a different tip, still more experimenting to do but I'm pretty sure that's the case. I have been pretty good when it come to getting colds but this is the second in 3 months, still it doesn't stop me doing what I want to do, just the vocals which my wife is happy about 😂 Thanks again buddy 👍

Very glad you did this video Pete. I've used the lph400 strictly for clear using the chrome cap and thought it was the best clear coat gun out of all of what I've tried. When I finally bought the ws400 base coat gun, I just took the lph400 nozzle out as I thought the holes were the same after we talked about it. It works better for me than the lph400 so now that you've told us the holes are even larger in the ws400 than the lph, I'll have to buy a ws clear tip and see if it could possibly be any better. One thing about you Pete, you always seem to come up with something else for me to spend my money on lol

Hi David, and thank you, I will get around to doing a more comprehensive video to show the tips so the difference is more visible, but yes, there are 3 different outer air hole sizes with the WS400 clear tip being the biggest, it simply flows more air which for basecoat makes it too dry but excellent for clear coat, cheers mate 👍

Pete, I have lvx, wbx and w400 lv4 air caps and all of them are the same! Absolutely the same! Iwata makes the same air caps but only the different color and name.

Hi Mate, I did realize the WBX and LVX were the same apart from the color. It's the tip that's different in some of them. The size of there are 3 sizes of air holes around the tip. As I think you know, we don't get access to the LPH400 over here, so it's difficult for me to get the caps and tips, but certainly it's only the recommended pressure and tips that differ, for example the standard WBX has 3 flutes on it's tip not 4

Thanks, Andrew 👍, Do you mean the Sata 5500 RP CC ? I have seen it, I haven't used that setup yet. It's the standard 5500 with a different cap and graphics. I do know a few people that have used it, and it would appear it's an acquired taste. It is quite slow, something that a Sata isn't renowned for and not noticeable better than the original as far as finish goes, cheers mate 👍

They definitely produce less overspray. Do you need a full-size gun ?

Hi Marc, These benefit from a better quality clear coat as they can lay nice thin layers, so a clear that flows out nice helps with that, I think you'll like it 👍

Hi Ben, unfortunately, Iwata changed the thread pitch on the bezels of the Wider4 and Kiwami4 models, so it's not just a case of swoping it over. Think I was saying somewhere in the video that the LVX cap looks identical to the W400 WBX cap, and I have the Kiwami4 WBX, so I could try that cap, it's designed for a higher pressure but looks same so should work. It is possible to remove the centre of the cap and swop them but it normally puts a kink in the sealing ring, which isn't so good. I'm glad you liked the video. Cheers, mate 👍

Hi Pete, thanks again for another video mate it was very enjoyable, I've seen a few YT videos of people in the USA painting with the LPH400 and they all seem to like it, it does look and seems to spray like the W400 which is no bad thing as I really like my W400. I will say though that I do prefer the look of the Wider4L as it just looks a more up to date or modern compared to the LPH and W400 but I don't know how they compare quality wise but I assume they must be similar quality wise🤔 I think people are getting a bit board with my flow coats on my IG page as my views, likes and comments have dropped of plus I'm loosing followers over there😥I'm not surprised really as it was bound to happen but these days I can't afford to keep changing colours each time as clear is cheaper than basecoat. Anyway thanks for doing your vids mate keep them coming👌👍

Hi John, yes, the Wider4L does look the more modern gun , built quality is the same, which is good with no tip seals to worry about. These guns are totally lost in the UK, hardly anybody knows what they are or more importantly what the differences are, I was surprised that there was a in-between tip compared to the WS400 clear and the WS400/LS400 base guns but there is with these. I'm sorry to hear about your IG page, I didn't know you could see the number of views something had anyway, but obviously, it sounds like you can. Cheers, mate , chin up 👍

It would be great if the Kiwami and the Wider were available in the UK I'm hoping they will be at some point as they are very nice guns. Yeah I think you need to upgrade your account to professional or business I really cant remember what I did but on each post I have there is a link above the Like, Comment and the Share button called "View Insights" where you can view a lot of info about each post, it's a bit like the analytics on YT, there is also info about how your page is doing and mine is on a downward trend🤷‍♂🤣

The kiwami and wider4 fit better in my hand. The air valve has no pressure drop moving from air to fluid, which is better for pressure adjustment. The fan control is more linear in adjustment, and it is more difficult to blow out the middle of the fan on the wbx and the 4L models.

I've seen in Russia they have a kiwami4L which is the replacement for the LPH LVX but additionally it seems there will never be a replacement for the purple LVB cap. in the video I had seen the Russians did mention the wider4L but they do not have it in their country and were very doubtful that Japan would send them; I had even contacted iwata Russia to see if we'd ever receive these new models they didn't have an answer and said to contact iwata USA but here in the states they had no knowledge of the newest stuff and I highly doubt I'll ever see it over here

Hi James, According to a few people who have contacted me, Iwata in the UK also has little or no knowledge of these newer models, something I find hard to believe. I think the official importers have to protect their dealer network, so simply deny any knowledge of new models until they are launched in said country. I think the above applies everywhere 🤔, cheers mate 👍

Hi Pete, appreciate your videos. Ive been using the wider 4L lately I've gotten great results. But I noticed it runs thru air. Comparing it to my kiwami4 ba2 cap. I do use the wider4l at a lower pressure, but the air horns on the cap are quite larger. So I believe that's why it runs thru air. I really enjoy the split tip, is there a air cap that uses less air I can mate with the split tip? Ive seen your video on the wbx and wb caps but i believe those use even more air. I Really enjoy using the wider4l but doing multiple panels, I loss air

Hi Buddy, the BA4J cap uses the least air of all the Iwata full-size guns. You won't find anything that approaches it that will accommodate a split tip. The WBX only uses more air because it runs at 29psi, so 2bar, the air holes in the cap are a similar size to the Wider4L cap. The only way you could do something is a WB1 cap from a W400WB, with obviously a WB1 cap, and swop the centers over with a Kiwami4 bezel that would run somewhere between the BA4J and the Wider4L cap, it does flow less material as it obviously flows less air, hope that helps

Thanks for replying. Are you familiar with the w400 lv4 cap? Its not hvlp and the air holes are smaller also. Your previous reply stated trying a wb1 cap and swapping the bezel. To fit the wider4l. After swapping will the cap screw on and seal up perfectly?? I wanna try either the w400lv4 cap or the w400wb1 cap like you mentioned. Your opinion on those two different caps will be much appreciated and help me decide which to buy. But i wanted to make sure swapping bezels to fit wider4l. Screws on properly. Hi Mate, I only tried once to swap the W400 and Kiwami4 caps over and it did work, that was the standard version, It should work for the Wider4L with the WB, WBX etc, so the split tips but I have never done it. As you may know, it's normally a little bit if a drama to get the sealing ring out, normally it gets distorted a little so I never bothered to try it on any others, I'm presuming it should work but I can't say, yes, I've done it with the split tip versions

@peteshobbies5383 Thanks again. And yes, I figured getting the sealing ring out would be difficult to keep in perfect condition. I do see their available on eBay, so I may give it a try. I haven't found the wb1 air cap 4sale yet. I did find a w400 lv4 air cap. I've heard it also has a lower air consumption. Guess I'll give this experiment a try. I enjoy your videos very informative thanks.

Hola amigo, Sí, el Wider4L tiene un patrón más húmedo, no mucho, pero es más húmedo. Ambos usan la misma cantidad de material, que es baja en comparación con la mayoría de las armas.

Pete with the split tip does it have to be inline with the air cap so it will have a good fan

Hi Gregory, no, not on these. The reason will be they run on a lower pressure, and the size of the air holes in the tip are smaller. It's the same with the LS400 and WS400 base coat guns, it doesn't have to line up in those either to be able to use full fan, it just the clear coat WS400 gun that has the problem, cheers mate 👍

@gregoryjowers3629 line the tips up, it sprays evenly & better with them lined up. Sometimes you have trouble Ling them up once you take em apart but lining them up is the best thing for these Guns.

@gregoryjowers3629 I have the LPH400s with all caps. Silver cap great for solids & clears, Orange cap great metallic and the purple great superior control over metallic but extremely slow. ( works well with kandy colors)

@gregoryjowers3629 The overspray from both these is lower than the Kiwami4 variations, simply because they run at a lower pressure. Having said that, many run there LPH400s26 ti 27 psi, so the overspray increases

I just got a new Wider4L off Amazon here in the US and it’s awful. Zero information available, no technical help, hard to get parts, the air inlet is some weird style thread that doesn’t exist in the US. All around head ache, not worth buying one.

Hi buddy, are you sure it is real? The Wider4L is actually very good and certainly comparable to the LPH400. What problems are you having with it, considering it's a new gun? What parts do you need considering it's a new gun? , the air inlet is the same thread as any other Iwata gravity feed paint gun and every other make as well. It's 1/4" BSP. As for technical help, it's a Japanese import and not officially imported in the US, so there will be no help from Iwata USA, that's where buying from a reputable seller comes in handy, they would also be a good source of spare parts when needed. What problems are you having with the gun?

@killian665 The box has a QR code to access its TDS. I have bought two from Amazon as well and I've been able to put adapters and regulators on with no issue
