I have a Jericho II that I really like. It isn't my best pistol for accuracy, trigger pull, price, ergonomics, or finding accessories, but it is perfectly acceptable for all those points. It sits in the middle ground for what I want in a pistol. Finding a holster is a real pain since I have a modular Blackhawk setup that I can rotate my other pistols into based on my needs, but the available holsters are serviceable if you are willing to use a drill to make them work. My thumb seems just a bit too short to actuate the safety without breaking my grip, but so do most pistols with a safety lever. All in all, I like it. It's not my first choice if I wanted to go to war (I'm retired so not a concern), or defend my house (I have a lot of guns that I've been working with for years I can rely on for that), but if my life depended on it, I wouldn't be upset if that's all I could get. Quality engineering and lots of thought went into these weapons.

Sales did not "peter off" on the IWI Ace Gen 1. The imports simply stopped coming and we were all left wanting more. Unfortunately, what IWI delivered (as you already said) was an Americanized version with the Gen 2. The majority of us still yearn for a Gen 1 Ace which the collectors have affectively placed out of our reach. Stay classy my friends.

@jaredcaldwell4270 11 ай бұрын
@@humanbass Eh, not really. 6.8 SPC isn't meant to be a long range cartridge anyhow. It's pretty effective within about 300 yards or so. If you had to take a longer shot, you wouldn't use that or a 5.56, you'd use something that's meant for those distances. 6mm ARC guns are all in long barrels so they're too big to maneuver around in close quarters.

According to IWI it wasn’t possible to configure the gen 2 to look like gen 1.

There is a niche purpose for an off gas regulator setting in the US. There are many states where it is illegal to hunt with a semi-auto. One could conceivably turn the gas regulator to off, and remove the op rod, turning the rifle into a straight-pull manual repeater. This is also an easy way to convert a rifle for use in ban states.

Really appreciate the story behind it. Very nicely done! Still can't get over the look and weight of this. I was really surprised this thing weighs more than an X95, being a conventional layout and newly designed, and how much polymer it has. Bren2 Carbine has a pretty heavy barrel and thick handguard but is 7.3lbs, and this is 8lb 2oz?? Same 16" barrel length, short stroke, adjustable gas, AR-180-ish. A SCAR16 is 7.25 lbs, but Carmel weighs more than a SCAR17. Sorry I just don't get it. For Galil ACE at least I can understand that is a fully modified, accuracy-improved milled receiver AK.

@@TheHouseAlwaysWins-xs8zd When I see the weight on official webpage. I usually believe the actual item is ≥ what they market it at. In this case 8lb 2oz w/o mag. Good vid. I'm a huge fan of IWI rifles, and this rifle is compelling and tempting. However...though I see some advantages of this over the SCAR, I don't see how it outperforms the Bren...except just so slightly on price. No, I disagree with you. $1600 is not "pricey" for a quality rifle recently developed. Manufacturers develop it, build it, then sell it to a distributor who then sells it to a retailer who then sells it to an end user...if that's done near $1500@, that's great. To all the budget AR and AK users out there feeling cheap and insulted, well, get over it.

The buttstock should fold the other way to completely mitigate any issues with the ejection port as well as making it easier to deploy for a right handed shooter. Also the buttstock is a loose fit which is noticeable when adjusting the length of pull. This gun is definitely a work in progress but does have some very good design elements incorporated into it and just needs a few tweaks. When people pay a premium for something they expect perfection or near perfection. 😎🇦🇺

@MrRobknell no. It wasn't the first absurdly false claim about weight. He even goes out of his way to accidentally disprove his own claims about the bren 2s weight. He claims his was almost 7 pounds out of the box, but the people who have exactly 6 pound bren 2s must be using just a red dot. Because adding equipment decreases weight. The other excuse is that everyone is using an 11" over his 14". Because we all know 3" of pencil barrel equals a pound extra in steel.

You should test the velocity of the bad federal. I have noticed that many of these companies are under charging their ammo and aren’t reaching the velocities they claim….. especially in m193 & m855. I am not sure if it’s poor QC or equipment maintenance or that they are short charging to cut costs. ( most cases it was 100 to 200 FPS slower even in a 20” barrel

Nice intro to the rifle. I wonder if the closed position on the initial run of development rifles was a throwback to the use of rifle grenades and rubber bullet launchers. Not a lot of militaries bother with them over underslung or stand-alone 40mm now and little need on the civilian /commercial market so the shut-off/closed position is pretty pointless now.

Great video! Been waiting for this gun since Shot Show. Just picked mine up 2 weeks ago. It is heavier than my Bren2 & Jakl but neither of those guns have a full 16" barrel. I've put 3 mags of 55gr Winchester white box down range to sight in the 1-6 LPVO and had zero issues. My groups were very similar to yours. I dig these side-charging piston guns.

@@xxdizannyxx Thanks. Ditching the LPVO for a Primary Arms 3x prizm scope. That will shave off some weight.

“Big, bulky nature” Same as with IWI TS12. LOOKS big & awkward. But, really isn’t. Both are great guns! :))

Thanks for the awesome video, Tim! Question…with that removable hand guard, I would think that you would *not* want to mount a front iron sight to that… Is that your take, or is it a nonissue? In any event, thank you for posting by far the best video yet on this new rifle. I really appreciate your research and the education that you provide. Thank you!

The tender you are talking about might be the Indian tender which lead to the adoption of AK203. But it is still not fielded heck even the factory for it is not online. Had Carmel won Punj Lloyd, its Indian partner would have manufactured it. The only other recent adoption of 7.62x39 I can remember is French one won by CZ and the Vietnamese and Ukranian ones won by its fellow IWI stablemate Galil Ace.

I didn't like the gun with ANY of the people that have tried it so far - only finally liked this rifle with you. Keep it in mind. There's a couple of threads on ARFcom for this rifle. I have both the ARX and the ACR, both SBRs and didn't see a place for this rifle in my collection - MAYBE that may change thanks to you, your explanation (only thorough one I've seen so far). What I wanted is shorter barrels and I liked the original shape of the rifle as it came out in the early pictures with the OG hand guard. I dislike this hand guard still - though I now see this rifle under a different light

This rifle has a lot of well thought out functionality. This is a nice change from other gun companies that simply make all the controls ambi and then pat themselves on the back for being innovative.
