My family pathology is not good. I came from a damaged home and damaged my first born child mentally and spiritually. She is 29 with two kids of her own and has told me, I am now dead to her and I deserve it, I have been horrible to people for no reason and mean spirited. I ask god to forgive me but I have to fix my broken pieces. I've been watching this powerful woman and all her videos, she is helping me get right with myself. They say you can't love anybody until you love yourself and I need to heal as I am so damaged. This is the first time I have spoken these words but I will take one day at a time. A total stranger said to me yesterday, "God bless you". I was like oh my and I wanted to shed a tear. I am going to fix myself.

I applaud your loving courage. Acknowledgement is powerful in and of itself. It helps you to take the next step on your healing journey. None of us can heal without acknowledgement. Because you want better for yourself, it is possible to secure better for yourself. Don’t give up. If you fall, don’t stay there...keep getting up and continue moving progressively/positively forward.

Azure Rainn I’m going through a hard time right now someone I loved with all my heart married someone else (he’s Haitian he married a Haitian girl and they have a child together). I’m having a hard time to move forward without him I don’t know how to do that. It is so hard emotionally and I just cannot picture my life without him (of course I am not with him now). How do you move on from this pain.

I watched this alone, then had my husband watch it with me. That was surprising in itself, lol, because he usually doesn't care to watch my "girl shows". He watched the entire thing. susan gardens Pretty rare deal for a guy to not watch sports. But then sports to guys are soap opera or girly reality shows to females, but I don't watch soaps or reality shows. I have not seen soaps since the early 2000s and glad I stopped. In recent years I've come to see the spiritual downside of watching that stuff, even if you don't live the soap life yourself.

Every time I go thru moments when I loose faith, forget all the spiritual lessons, and feel completely lost in the situation, this is what I come back to and it gives me peace again. I really don't know what it is but nobody else takes me out of the hard moments and gives me peace as she does. I learn and follow Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Dalai Lama etc... and I've learn so much from all of them. Only Iyanla brings me back from depressing moments, God bless Her.

I didn't really know very much about her. At first I was impatient... I thought she was rambling too much and I just wanted her to get to the point. But then after a while I cried a lot and it all hit me... and by the end of it I just wanted to hug her and felt a huge admiration for her. This moved me and inspired me a lot.

There are plenty of people now a days that "act out" their dysfunction on television...I love love Ms. Iyanla Vanzant she is full of so much wisdom from her experiences...In her earlier years before OWN she wrote a book called "In the Meantime" this book changed my life twelve years ago and I am grateful for it!

today is easter and i am alone. suddenly i feel my inner child of 3 years old. She feels so abandoned. As if she will be abandoned from love forever. I see I repeat this pattern of being abandoned or abandoning myself all of my life :( not believing anymore I can live with people near. I am grateful to look at the broken peaces of my life. Not to act happy. But to see what's going on. can I just fix it? no. but, glad to listen to iyanla. she teaches me..

I'ts amazing that you are able and now see that you repeat this pattern. I'm aware of the thoughts that some times, some more than others that are of pain from the same thing. When I'm aware enough I recognize that these are old thoughts repeating themselves to affirm the story of being abandoned and that it has no real function, what so ever. Then it looses it's over me and I can breath deeply and be at peace. Thank you for sharing : ) love, Angelica. I loved this message. I am broken, have been for many years but slowly putting the pieces together of my life. All of my hurt & pain I am putting it behind me. I'm finding love & comfort within myself & forgiveness of those who have hurt me. I've removed people out of my life who doesn't have my best interest at heart. Be it friends or family. My Mother was the only somebody who could talk to me & give me the love, encouragement, & faith I needed to endure. She inspired me to do my best even if it meant failing several times. I have the determination to get up, dust myself off & keep moving forward. With all the broken pieces in my life, I'm putting them together, one day at a time, & piece by piece. Sleep well Mother. I love that despite all she has gone through, she celebrates life and has a sense of humor. I love how she explains ideas, but manages to get some humor into it. I think it allows people to accept it more. It does not make it serious and dry. It makes it a fun lesson.

Lyanla come from a long line of motivational speakers the world is hungry for this type of message and will seek out this type of message because we live in a world of broken family.Very few people are good orators that can mirror other persons behavior and frame things in such a way that can bring understanding to the mind shine the klight on our darkness and ignorance that as been bothering us for generations
