I have always gotten similar vibes from them, and the fact that they already have a lot of similarities doesn’t help😭 Though I do know they have differences, it’s still kind of odd for two characters from the same series to be so similar- especially if the media intended mainly for younger audiences who can get confused

I think Pinkie is fully cognizant of how joyless and troubled her childhood was, and it motivates her to bring happiness into other ponies' lives so no one goes through what she went through. It's really beautiful.

The issue isn’t Pinkie Pie’s depth. It’s Izzy’s. The new generation had so much potential, but they fumbled it. Opaline being a flat character, (while Izzy isn’t EXACTLY like Pinkie they definitely took a lot of her personality and made a cookie cutter pony), and Sunny not getting the character development she needs. What happened to the Pillars? To the student six? Weren’t they building up for every generation to have 6 ponies with their own version of one element? I get the new generation is doing this (sort of) but it just feels so bland. Plus, the whole story is just crapping on everything Twilight and her friends built. They could’ve gone way more outside of Equestria, but they chose not to. I get some people like the show, and they can. But in all honesty, this show will never be as good as G4. Animation wise and plot wise.

A scrapped episode about mlp said that Pinkie was throwing parties ever since she got her cutie mark and as she got older she realized her parties weren’t doing as well and went to ponyville looking for a job (where she met the cakes) and upon hearing her problem they gave her the idea to throw personalized parties instead of the same kinds of parties for every single pony. Her business skyrocketed after hearing this and implementing it into her partying business, and the cakes offered her a place to stay since she decided she liked ponyville so much. 😊

But sunset was like twilight when she was Celestia’s student. friendless and always just trying to learn . And she was angry that Celestia was telling her to make friends when she had none . And she thought that she is a hypocrite. And left

Pinkie is actually the best exemple of BPD i have ever seen,, and im not talking about headcanon stuff but purely canon information we have about her her over the top acting her fear of abandon her obsession with being loved by everyone her constant acting and saying random stuff to make people react when she end up in a down,, she act like she hate everything and everyone to not be hurt act dumb on purpose to make other react constant mood swing unable to know herself constantly entertain herself and hate to be with herself multiple time refer Pinkie as someone who help you get out of misery and sadness and always say it in the third person (like if it was a mask she was putting on to hide her true feeling) dangerous behavior for herself (know what Spiking the punch mean and is shown to have alcoholism due to her buying way too much Cider) actually the time i think Pinkie as been the most real to who she really is was seen in "Every little thing she does" where at the end Starlight Glimmer try to help her with a Cake and Pinkie is keeping to herself,, still in a mood until she notice Starlight is litterally all messy due to not being able to mix correctly,, which make Pinkie smile a little and finally show a genuine smile,, the only one that is not over the top exagerated,, a smile that is really,, to me,, Pinkie real smile,, i really like that scene

I personally think the time on the rock farm was traumatic for every pie sister, because all of them seem to cope with something, which is why all of them have extreme personalities, but in different ways.

I didn't notice it almost at all when I was a kid but having rewatched FIM recently there were SOOOOO many instances of pinkie pie having BPD moments, it's really interesting watching the show with more knowledge about mental conditions in general and also my own and seeing myself and close people to me in those characters. The whole main cast is very neurodivergent and I love that they're able to portray different mental disabilities and disorders while still showing them as good people, despite flaws. They are able to learn to cope and manage certain things and sometimes they mess up, but they still grow, despite some conditions they can be read as having not seeming to go away over time

Pony culture seems to have a 'it takes a village' approach to raising foals. The CMC roam around relatively freely, for example, so long as their families are certain they are okay. The nature of the show makes violent crime seem almost nonexistent and magical hijinks are largely reversible, so this would be sensible in Equestrian culture.

Honestly, when I first saw the new movie of the next generation of MLP, I got reminded about the Main 6 from the last generation, its almost like they were trying to use them as inspiration to make the ponys a bit similar but not the same like for example we have Izzy = Pinkie Pie Sunny = Twilight Sparkle Pip = Rarity Zip = Rainbow Dash Sheriff Hitch = Applejack + Fluttershy But you see, even if they are similar, they will never be the same. They will never be the Generation 4 we all know and love and no offence to the new generation its just about how they will never be the same as the MLP I grew up with and will continue to love and forever be my favorite And thats a fact.

As much as i understand wanting to make fun of new mlp I would presume it's not that she's meant to be a pinkie pie clone but instead it's more about a theme where an important characteristic of both is being happy and upbeat despite their circumstances. In a way being outliers despite the odds which in a way feels like it'd just a common tool/trope when used to bring together characters from different places that usually are enemies together

I lean more towards an AU, with characters like Spike & Twilight being, to borrow from another franchise, variants. Consider this: sure, several of the G4 characters seem to be historical figures, but the only thing the same about Equestria itself is that it's called Equestria. NONE of the geography is even close, and there are a couple of mentions of locations that existed in G5 at what would be the time of G4, yet don't exist in G4 (the alleged home town of alicorns mentioned by Opaline, f'rinstance).

SAMEEE, I LOVE Pinkie. Adore her, and out of the main 5 in G5 I really like Izzy a lot and they are absolutely NOT the same at all! I don’t know much about Izzy because I have not and probably never will watch the newest MLP show because it was so garbage that someone decided to write a fanfic that made it better. (Wish I remembered what it’s called) but yeah, Pinkie Pie grew up on the rock farm with a boring life that she thought she would live with forever until Rainbow’s Sonic Rainboom, but Pinkie Pie was a fun outgoing girl who when we first met her was a bit overbearing and eventually that was addressed in the show where she slowly became more relaxed and didn’t practically force her friendship onto everyone. The show actually gave character development to the mane six and it really showed how far these girls have gotten.

I hear what you’re saying- but as a show that’s directly (mainly) towards younger audiences and children, it’s still kind of odd seeing how similar they can be in certain fronts. The silly, bubbly personality combined with their creativity and higher pitched voices throws me off, and while I admit that yes these are definitely two two different characters who have many differences- the core idea of what kind of character they are in the story just feels too similar to me personally And considering most children aren’t going to consider all the intricacies that go into making these characters different, I feel like they could have used a little more differences to set them apart All imo, ofc! 😌

Honestly Starlight and Sunset, while not identical, are far too similar to be occupying comparable roles in the same franchise. Their obsession with making off-brand Twilights is painfully obvious. As for Pinkie and Izzy, it really depends on who’s writing Izzy. Her interpretation from a bad TYT episode to ANG varies wildly.

I'd say that of course they're different, but their most prominent personality trait is similar. Hence why people tend to see Izzy as a copy. Sucks because in the film I felt like Izzy, while quirky, had a truly different vibe from Pinkie. Something that I didn't feel that much in the rest of the show...

Izzy and Pinkie have some things in common in major aspects, but that doesn't mean they're exactly the same. The quirkiness and comedic relief roles are there, but other than that, there's nothing because Izzy's part of the next gen. Well said, Quantum.
