I have had many broken ribs in my 44 years. When you feel a sneeze brewing it is hellish. You know you’re in for a huge shock of pain. I twice had collapsed lung as well and sneezing with chest tubes in is terrible.

Just got over broken ribs. Just be careful not to try come back too early. You can damage them again. Took me 2 months before I could surf. It’s super hard to just watch when it’s on the pump but long term you’ll be better off for it.

Wow! That's some great surf. Doubt Trestles ever gets that walled up. Did I see Derek Hynd on an ALAIA SURFBOARD!? Tough about the ribs, man. Just paddle sessions over here for the next few months, we'll have to see- my neck is completely frozen. Face-plant padding isn't very good. 😟

Brother, sorry to hear you what you been going through. I broke a couple of ribs myself. When you said that, I gringed as if I felt that pain again. I hope you heal soon. Duck tape, by the way, doesn't help, lol.

Elo, broke my ribs in Jan …. Got this advice after a week, help a stack as I was sick, if you cough or sneeze bear hug a pillow, makes it a bit easier. Hope it helps.

I hope the ribs heal up quick. Surfing is so fickle. I guess the longer you surf, the more of these cases of being injured / sick and out of the water we all go through. I was thinking for me for example in light of these similar interruptions to surfing consistently, it might be good to try to keep the stoke high but the expectation low....

broken rib sounds farked! a guy i know recently tore half his face off falling on a rock while surfing. he's recovering ok i think. at least you still have your good looks 😁
