“Forward with the plot. One - seven - forty - five “ If you fast-forward 17 minutes and 45 seconds from this line, you’ll arrive near the end of “Change” where the plot is told. This album is dedicated to the slain friend of Cole’s named James McMillan Jr. who “died” selling drugs yet lives on through this album. ^Copy and pasted this out of genius^

This album should be a classic and magnum opus, when you account for the background of it, every track is cohesive! The only reason this album is a jarring listen is people come to this album off the back of 2014 FHD which has a lighter atmosphere.

This album takes time to get used to. It’s a genius album and in order to completely enjoy it, it took me many listens. The whole album has a chill undertone but some of these songs go hard. I perceive it as the first half being Jame’s perspective and also Coles but then change comes and James gets killed which causes Cole to change and Cole leads himself down a good path in the final songs talking about his present life and family and how his life has turned out. That’s what I think of it. It’s truly deeper than it seems on the surface and with me being a huge Cole fan I have come to appreciate this almost as much or as much as Forest hills drive. Thanks for the reaction man!

@@MyPimpinAfro14 the line and song, like Jon said is so anti hip-hop, which makes it really cool. It's a simple line that speaks about settling down with someone you love and finding beauty in the simple things in your life with that person. Also, you can't tell this person which line is one of the most meaningful to THEM. To each their own.

This album is about his best friend who died. The album track by track is a story from being raised in the street, wanting better for yourself but unable to grow out of the environment around you, finding love, changing to a more aware and unselfish person, having a daughter and still stuck in the streets and ultimately dieing in the streets. Also Cole had beat years before Bryson...Bryson producers copied that beat...it became Bryson hit and Cole never felt the need to sue...a classic act let the young new artist eat.

you have to remember that the first song was cole thinking is life even worth living and being unsure with what he was doing on this earth, then goes to him being a teen and being hard and thinking hes bulletproof, being the top dog, fast forward to she's mine pt 1. he now has been humbled by the 2 females in his life and he now wants to live his life and he wants to live for his family. continue on to changes where the name explains itself, he tries to change from being a gangsta to become a family man. onwards towards the end of the album his past has now caught up with him and is killed bc of what he did when he was younger. and then cole goes on to reveal that the whole album was in his late friends perspective telling a story to his daughter, but that cole is also telling a story to his own daughter of what he would've become if he had not gone down the path that music led him on.
