There's a remix with Nas on it where he explains Cole didn't let him down at all. You really need to do more Nas too if you're into storytelling. Nas is one of the best ever.

Don't worry guys he made Nas proud. Nas spoke his mind on the remix & did the hook. Months after this release so they squashed this issue. Both stronger for it. You should do part 2 sometime down the line.

Cole says “No I.D. my mentor now let the story begin.” at the end of one verse. This is a line from Kanye’s ‘Big Brother’ off Graduation, which was a someone similar track about Jay-Z being his mentor, Kanye’s eagerness to impress and his admiration for Jay, but also a very honest reflection on how he approached the early years of his career. Well worth a listen.

First of all, thank you guys for doing this video! You don't know how long I've been waiting to see this! there are a few more J Cole tracks that you REALLY need to do and need to hear. I'd say the top three are... 3) '03 Adolescence 2) Love Yourz 1) Lost Ones * I guarantee you'll really like all three songs, and you'll get massive views from all of us Cole fans. Much respect to the Hardest Working Channel in the Game! Blessings!

If it's sampled or not it's usually put together/created by producers and then given to the rappers or the rappers will ask for something in particular. Usually instruments are done electronically. Idk sometimes it would be actual instrumentation

8:10 to answer your guys' question, yes and no. Cole would have always had enough fans to make noise but the songs popularity on the radio was a 1st for him. His name started to become a more mainstream artist. Besides his first two mixtapes a lot of people's first exposure to him was this song.

The all star game dunk contest was him helping out Dennis Smith Jr, who grew up in the same city as J Cole did and went to NC State (a North Carolina college in the state he’s from) and the all star game was in North Carolina. Dennis Smith Jr was one of the basketball players J. Cole references in his verse on 21 Savage’s “A Lot”. So Dennis Smith Jr wore J. Coles high school basketball jersey and had J Cole help him

It's funny that you said "Work Out" sounds like a song from the 80's. He actually sampled a 1988 Paula Abdul song called "Straight Up" in order to make that track.
