I'm 5 years late but I'll never get tired of seeing people hear this dude for the first time. America gets a lot of things wrong but I'll put our music up with anyone else.

When my dad was a kid in Texas they listened to Western music. People in the East listened to Country. There was a distinction.

I am new to your channel and I understand that different people have different perspectives about things but this reaction is by far the worst. I may be biased but stick to logic you’ll attract your target audience that way.

You must have the right headphones when you do reviews of such songs as this. Otherwise, you're not getting the full effect.

The transparency here offers a refreshing and insightful perspective. As a Hip-Hop artist I was initially intrigued by the inherent juxtaposition of Metalheads discussing Kendrick Lamar. To THIS song(s) no less. While I was a little underwhelmed by the disconnect in you guys’ reception of the material (but probably more related to the dissonance of my own appreciation for Kendrick 😂) I became more interested in where it would all land. The succinct honesty in concluding “I think that’s him at his experimental best, but it’s just too out there for me.” highlighted a few things for me: 1. I’m encouraged. This reaction is not ONLY authentic but watching the progression from “We can’t put this out” to “No, that IS the reaction.” also struck me as profoundly sincere. I respect you guys following through to understand and, at the very least, articulate that disconnect and share your thoughts honestly. This is a preference thing to me, which takes me to 2. 2. I’m enlightened. I grew up hearing that says “Everything ain’t for Everybody”. It informed my outlook that taste is self-contained and differences in opinions are naturally occurring opportunities for us to identify, or further distinguish, the uniqueness of our own palette.. As a product of Black American Culture my reverence for the scope of what Hip-Hop encapsulates is, as we say, “deeper than rap.” However, given its sociopolitical conception and many of the themes, language, and forms associated with its music, I’m understanding of the widespread disconnect historically denoting Hip-Hop’s value as more of a lesser “form of art” than a reputable art form. Hearing Simon say “I respect it, but I don’t get it.” resonated with a closely held belief I have about that exact disconnect, which is, if people gave it a chance, they’d respect it - even if they don’t like it. 3. I’m informed. This has shown me how music helps acquiesce our understanding to the intricacies of nuance in a world only understanding itself in absolutes. I love that you guys could sit in front of it and go “Yea, this is for a specific demo that’s not me, and that’s cool.” Embracing the disagreement to divulge its value isn’t the same as conceding and accepting an opposing view. When you engage something you know you don’t understand the distinctions drawn between the knowledge you don’t possess and ignorance you do become more pronounced. We develop awareness that enables us to see necessary distinctions between ourselves and the world. This is critical in the formation and shared recognition of many important social boundaries. To understand and be in agreement about where we are may not be crucial in bringing opposing worldviews together, but it’s definitely a requisite for Peace. Without that communication at its basis, any reasonably placed boundary can be mistaken for a barrier and previewed as a threat. Great work guys. 🙏🏽🖤

Your reaction to this song was great!! Other Chris Stapleton songs you may want to listen to if you haven’t already: Barely Alive - Higher - Sometimes I Cry - I Was Wrong -- It's a Man's World (cover) - Death Row - Fire Away (video)- Either Way. There are so many other songs (past and present - the list would be too long to list).
