That's great. I'm writing a story in the Starfinder rpg universe. (Think D&D in space) And I imagine this as being the song that plays when the main character meets the red dragon about to sacrifice his long lost estranged family. The dragon almost drinks an elixir, the main character shoots it, it spills, but the Dragon still eats it, dirt and all. It collapses, and then still manages to rise...as a dragon lich, eyes slough off, hide tightens, cue this song and battle starts. Edit:typo

The scene where the beat drops and the song changes to a more proper remix of the theme always gets me, the perfect way to do a remix truly and the only other game to do a beat drop like that is KH3 with the rock titan and the remix of the deep end

For me it just sent me right back to when I was 10 years old and playing the game for the first time. I had the biggest and dumbest grin on my face the entire time as those old memories just flooded back to me after all these years! :)

I dunno why, but this played at 1.25x feels more powerful. Needless to say, Uematsu did NOT have to go this hard on the remake, but goddamn it I’m so glad he did!!!

Honestly, this is the only FF game I've seen that straight up screams "Final Fantasy" in the past decade or so. We can only hope that they continue to nail FF games as well is FF7R.

the slow motion is part of the game :) as soon as you open the menu on the bottom left the game slows down to make choices easier :)

@@Eishern Yes I know! I just appreciate the fact they recorded scenes of characters doing the entire animation in slow motion and compiled them in this video! It's easy to get it in game, but having it recorded is really cool and convenient!

My problem with FF7R's music is that it's not synthy enough. The original game was very diesel/cyberpunk, and while the OST may have used the PS1's MIDI system mostly by necessity, it actually fit the setting _extremely_ well. Better than the other two FF's that were constrained to the same system. The main arpeggio in this song has the right sound, but the rest doesn't really capture the extraterrestrial grossness of Jenova that the original song had with its eerie sine wave-esque synth pad samples.

You know. I feel the same way. The remake music is very good. The OG was as well. I don't think anyone would say one version is better than the other, but that they are different. I have played the OG a bunch and it was nice to hear a new take on an old song. I still listen to the OG ost once in a while when I'm chilling around the house. It has that special vibe to it that you mentioned.

I appreciate the orchestral "upgrade" the music got in Remake. It makes everything that much more epic and grand, just like the game itself is a massive upgrade from the OG. The OG has a special place in my heart, especially the music. But that was what it was capable of at that time, and this is what it's capable of now. The new arrangements are AMAZING and very complimentary (and complementary) to Uematsu's original creation. The Mako Reactor theme, for example--it lost a lot of its industrial sound in the Remake version but also added a lot to the ambience and underlying sinister tone with the new arrangement. It's not that Remake's version is better per se, it's just different, and it matches the tone of the game that I don't think keeping the synth-iness would have.

This is the main/first reason the immersion seemed to be lost, in my experience. The bombing mission should have at least stayed synthy.

This song definitely excuse the fact you're not fighting her on a boat. Hehe. Still, such a beautiful game, definately went over expectations for me, but my 10 year old ps4 absolutely hates it 😂
