This song is the song that made J-Hope want to be a dancer so it's very important to him so he wanted to do it justice. He paid over 2 mil in royalties to the original artist, said he dyed his hair to match the old school aesthetics, filmed it in LA when he was on vacation all so he could release the song for free. When you get to hear more from JHope and see his live performances he really raps with his whole body. RM raps with his brain, Suga with his heart and JHope with his whole body and soul. See the Outro Tear Performance. Or any of the their cypher performances when its just them three, they each bring a different vibe and energy to the stage. (Its hard to describe until you see it). Edit to add: on stage Suga is pure swag, RM is pure confidence and JHope is all charisma and becomes the biggest bias wrecker.

Jhope paid the original artists something like 2.7 mil for the rights to this song because it meant that much to him, and then he released it for free. Neuron was the dance team he was on so he was an accomplished dancer and winning competitions before he joined BigHit. And you are right, this is his rap style: Namjoon raps with mind, Suga with his soul, and JHope with his heart. His rap vocal is as unique as Suga's and Namjoon's and you can tell which one of them rapping without looking. He learned how to rap after joining BigHit.

That Taehyung thing is not true!! He started rapping when he joined BTS yes true but he was already a rapper before V joined Namjoon, Yoongi and Hoseok are the 1st 3 members of BTS! Supreme boi was also meant to be a part of BTS but decided to be a producer instead!! Hoseok was signed because of his dancing yes and then asked to be a rapper because they felt that he would adjust to it better then the others as he already has a feel for Rhythm and hip hop!!! It was not for Taehyung! He was a rapper before the rest joined.

Something interesting that an ARMY said was that "RM questions the world, Yoongi criticizes it and J-Hope colors it", the three of them have different perceptions of the world and it shows in a very clear way in their solo work and I think that this really makes sense when you think about it.

A few things about this song and video.... 1. J Hope has said (as did Becky G.) When he started dance classes, this song was the first dance he learned...and that it hold a massive piece of his heart. 2. The beat of the song is stronger as I'm sure you noticed. That is because J Hope is also a beat maker. He remixed it to have a stronger baseline (NO PUN INTENDED ARMY!) 3. The orginal artists of this song Webstar and Young B (Bianca, who is on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta) were happy to give him permission. However, he didn't leave anything to chance and spent almost 3 million for the song. Not to mention any proceeds that Hobi may recieve from the song go directly to them. 4. In the later part of 2018, the guys took a small break and went on Vacation (by themselves) and the first thing that Hobi did was to fly back to L.A. to film the video. As a matter of fact this is in an industrial area of L.A. off the 10 freeway...and I'm not sure if you noticed...it was a one shot video (with the exception of the blimp shot (which was from Big Hit and BTS). Hobi had mentioned that the vars were damn near deafening they were so loud. The first monster truck was real, the one they "Dropped" wasn't at first...the next scene it was. All the low riders were real. 5. The dancers! They were all amazing!!! J Hope wanted to show how important the dancers were not to mention that he knows what it like to be acknowledged for your work and passion. That is why he gave all them credits at the end of the video. He had said that they were an amazing group of dancers. Very professional and great at their craft, especially the kids. As for your question, rapper or dancer? J Hope just Hope's to be acknowledged as a preformer... and that is what I believe ARMY sees him as, an amazing preformer...as well as the whole group... One last note: at the SoWooZoo 8th Muster for ARMY, The group as a whole helped J Hope sing this live for the very first time. Jungkook did Becky's singing parts and RM and Jimin both learned her Spanish verses. So I guess u can say that RM knows, I believe 4 or maybe 5 languages and Jimin 3.... I apologize for this post being as long as it is. But I wanted to give you an understanding of why Hobi wanted to do this song.

I just hate how people said jhope was cultural appropriating when this was the literal style back then. hes a damn underground dancer turned idol/rapper. and his roots are in dancing. he is FULLy aware of dance/music origins and is paying homage and respect. (EDIT) I will edit because I will recognize cultural appropriation IS a thing when you take something from a people that has been used against them. There is no mistake KPOP does a shit ton of that, looking at JAY PARK and his trash music video and his lame excuse of an apology. But Jhope, this is aint it.

I've never understood why people get mad over something like style or hair or music etc. If the person using those things to express themselves is not showing disrespect or racism in the way they're using it, then how is it wrong? Especially if they have a personal connection to it.

Yeah it’s only appropriation when someone is blatantly mocking a culture, and clearly Hobi was NOT doing that. The little kids on Twitter have thrown around ‘cultural appropriation’ so much to the point that the true meaning has been lost. And if you really wanna get into it, he had gel twists which is not considered a black hairstyle.

Hobi is a performer first. He's been dancing most his life--he won a national championship in hip hop dance before even joining BTS. And he's been rapping and writing for over a decade (112 songs to his name!). He puts a lot of care and affection and passion into every aspect of his art. He's just very well-rounded. But he's said the stage is where he feels most himself. "Free like a bird." It's ARMY canon that everyone leaves a BTS concert j-hope biased. It happened to me. haha. I went in a Jimin bias of 8 months but you see him in person and his aura is just ridiculous. You can't help but watch him every second. He's the dance and performance leader so he's technically perfect but there's so much charisma on top of it...it's magnetic. I find Hobi's rap to be incredibly impressive because it's so new. There's no one like him. He's 1 of 1. Some people use that against him--he's non-traditional so they think it means less of a "rapper." He does add a lot of melody and, because he's a vocalist too, he does sing. His raps tend to be bouncy and swaggy, his flow is really unpredictable but always hits just right (great musicality), and his production is old school and kind of funky. So it's not as aggressive or hard as RM & Suga's. But it's innovative. And it's so him. It's crazy cause he's built out this brand that is so easily identifiable as his own. His point of view is really well-developed and highly specific. He always stays loyal to his aesthetic but he still manages to surprise and challenge fans and I think that is so impressive. He's got so much range but whatever he delivers you know is going to be super high quality, super thoughtful, and super "j-hope." I'm gushing now...but I really am just in awe of him as an artist.

I think jhope just loves dancing so much that it shows on his face all the time. I must admit every time I have had to pause a music video with him in his face always looks good in the pause. 💜

The reason you hear a variation of RM and Suga's rap styles on jhope sometimes is due to the fact that he was originally a vocal member but the company decided to teach him how to rap and ended being a rapper and main dancer

When I say this is the best reaction video I've ever seen I mean it. I just love that you point out all these details in the lyrics and the dancing that so many people skip over. Hobi's style especially in his album Hope World he has that style of very lively and colorful vibes. I also respect the hell out of him for putting dancer credits. BTS in general always put producer and music credits in all of their videos (most of the time in the description or in the physical album) and it means so much because I rarley see artists do that.

Another tidbit in this mv, the choreographer was Sienna Lalau who also did "ON" and "Dionysus" for bts. She appears in this one too (black/yellow top with braids) and also is front and center at the beginning of ON.

I enjoyed your first ever reaction to j-hope! I love it when reactors have a connection to the original CNS. I love what they did and since Bianca approves I love it with my whole heart. Go j-hope! Go Becky G! Seeing them perform it in Chicago was so freaking hype btw. I was GA but my friend in the VIP stands said that people were jumping up and down so much for CNS that it seemed like the stands were gonna collapse.

Jhope's music brings smile to your face since he's a sunshine of the group. He's the sun that brings energy to your life. If you hear an upbeat music smiley smiley song of BTS, Jhope is part of that production team. And yes, that is his style. You might want to check out his other solo. - Daydream - Airplane Also, he's originally a dancer before BTS. He started rapping after joining BTS and RM and Suga are his mentors. He's the hype man of the rap line. You will notice the rap line's rap styles on their Cyphers.

Jhope started as a street dancer. He once said after joining BTS that rap conformed to his body. He definitely is a master at his craft. You feel his performances, not just watch them. BTW, you are a great reactor, and if you don't mind the compliment, you have a very beautiful voice and infectious smile. Always enjoy your breakdowns.

So what I wanna tell u about Jhope is that as u said he has a really cool fun vibe and that’s how he is. He is a person who hides pain and sadness behind a big smile and never shows his sad emotions. That’s exactly how his songs are build too. At first you’d think “oh wow sounds so fun” and then u read the lyrics and rethink ur whole life lmaoo. I would definitely recommend u to react to more of his solo works/ songs from his mixtape as well as from bts albums. He has a lot of nice and deep lyrics and the way he covers the deepness with his fun and dancy personality is mind blowing.Thank u for ur cool reaction!

I believe they've probably already explained the significance of this song to J-Hope, I will not stay here and repeat it 😂😂 but with regards to the question would he say dancer or rapper or both, I feel like his answer would have changed through the years in accordance with his growth as an artist. I think for a couple of years in the beginning he just would have said dancer but now I don't know I feel like he sees himself more and more as an entertainer/artist so ... both? I don't know really, but obviously dancing will always be up there for him, that's for sure 😁.

I wonder if it's fair to say this is an East-coast style homage to the orig? Plus mixing Eng, Kor, and Span just shows how love of music is universal and the influence of Hip-hop/R&B is global (and has been for decades.)
